Fast Generation of 3-D Video Holograms using a Look-up Table and Temporal Redundancy of 3-D Video Image (룩업테이블과 3차원 동영상의 시간적 중복성을 이용한 3차원 비디오 홀로그램의 고속 생성)

  • In this paper, a new method for efficient computation of CGH patterns for 3-D video images is proposed by combined use of temporal redundancy and look-up table techniques. In the conventional N-LT method, fringe patterns for other object points on that image plane can be obtained by simply shifting these pre-calculated PFP (Principle Fringe Patterns). But there have been many practical limitations in real-time generation of 3-D video holograms because the computation time required for the generation of 3-D video holograms must be massively increased compared to that of the static holograms. On the other hand, as ordinary 3-D moving pictures have numerous similarities between video frames, called by temporal redundancy, and this redundancy is used to compress the video image. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed the efficient hologram generation method using the temporal redundancy of 3-D video image and N-LT method. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed method, some experiments with test 3-D videos are carried out, and the results are comparatively discussed with the conventional methods in terms of the number of object points and computation time.

Strength and sulfuric acid resistance properties of cement mortar containing copper slag (동 제련 슬래그를 사용한 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 및 황산저항 특성)

  • Each year, more than seven hundred thousand tons of copper slag are generated in Korea as a byproduct during the production of copper. Due to the large amount of copper slag produced, there has been increased interest in the use of copper slag as a construction material. To evaluate the potential of copper slag as a construction material, laboratory evaluations were conducted in this study, and three particle shapes and replacement rates of river sand were selected as experimental variables. Strength, air-void characteristics, and sulfuric acid resistance were the three properties evaluated to assess whether copper slag can be used as a construction material. Test results indicate that the gradation of copper slag has an effect on strength, and the maximum strength was achieved when 60 % of river sand was replaced with copper slag. In addition, when compared with ordinary Portland cement mortar, replacing river sand with copper slag reduced air void size and increased sulfuric acid resistance.

  • Effects of mashed wax gourd (Benincasa hispida) on texture and sensory quality of bread were evaluated. Farinograph results revealed increase in mechanical tolerance index (MTI) and water absorption, and decrease in dough stability with the addition of wax gourd. Addition of wax gourd also decreased loaf weight and volume. L, a, and b values of crust decreased with increasing addition of wax gourd, Whereas no effect on the color of crumb, Firmness of bread crumb increased with the addition of wax gourd at 67%, resulting in significant increase in hardness, gumminess, and chewiness of bread. Sensory evaluation revealed that acceptable quality of bread could be obtained by the addition of wax gourd up to 50%.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for generation of multi-view video from conventional 2 dimensional video. Color and motion information of an object are used for segmentation and from the segmented objects, multi-view video is generated. Especially, color information is used to extract the boundary of an object that is barely extracted by using motion information. To classify the homogeneous regions with color, luminance and chrominance components are used. A pixel-based motion estimation with a measurement window is also performed to obtain motion information. Then, we combine the results from motion estimation and color segmentation and consequently we obtain a depth information by assigning motion intensity value to each segmented region. Finally, we generate multi-view video by applying rotation transformation method to 2 dimensional input images and the obtained depth information in each object. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms comparing with conventional conversion methods.

Fast Video Detection Using Temporal Similarity Extraction of Successive Spatial Features (연속하는 공간적 특징의 시간적 유사성 검출을 이용한 고속 동영상 검색)

  • The growth of multimedia technology forces the development of video detection for large database management and illegal copy detection. To meet this demand, this paper proposes a fast video detection method to apply to a large database. The fast video detection algorithm uses spatial features using the gray value distribution from frames and temporal features using the temporal similarity map. We form the video signature using the extracted spatial feature and temporal feature, and carry out a stepwise matching method. The performance was evaluated by accuracy, extraction and matching time, and signature size using the original videos and their modified versions such as brightness change, lossy compression, text/logo overlay. We show empirical parameter selection and the experimental results for the simple matching method using only spatial feature and compare the results with existing algorithms. According to the experimental results, the proposed method has good performance in accuracy, processing time, and signature size. Therefore, the proposed fast detection algorithm is suitable for video detection with the large database.

The effect of ankle joint mobilization technique on equilibrium ability in the individuals with supinated foot (회외발에 대한 족관절 관절가동술이 균형능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of ankle joint mobilization on equilibrium ability of supinated foot. Both Joint mobilization group(n=20) and control group(n=20) were measured an equilibrium ability by Balance performance monitor at pre-test, post-test in 2 weeks, post-test in 4 weeks and follow-up test in 2 weeks. The sway area, sway path length and sway maximum velocity of the joint mobilization group were significantly reduced among the experimental period (p<.05). The reduction of sway area, sway path length and sway maximum velocity were significantly different between the joint mobilization group and the control group at in 2 weeks, 4 weeks and follow-up test(p<.05). In conclusion, we were found that ankle joint mobilization could reduce sway area, sway path length and sway max velocity and improve a balance for the individuals with supinated foot.

  • Highly integrated MPEG-4@SP video compression engine, VideoCore, is proposed for mobile application. The primary components of video compression require the high memory bandwidth since they access the external memory frequently. They include motion estimation, motion compensation, quantization, discrete cosine transform, variable length coding, and so on. The motion estimation processor adopted in VideoCore utilizes the small-size local memories such that the video compression system accesses external memory as less frequently as possible. The entire video compression system is divided into two distinct sub-systems: the integer-unit motion estimation part and the others, and both operate concurrently in a pipelined architecture. Thus the VideoCore enables the real-time high-quality video compression with a relatively low operation frequency.

Recovery of Copper from Waste Water by $H_2$Reduction (동폐수용액으로부터 수소환원법에 의한 동의 회수)

  • The recovery of copper from $\alpha$-Etchent waste and pure copper solution was studied by the $H_2$reduction process. The results of test were as following: 1) The recovery of copper was increased with increasing hydrogen pressure and stirring speed up to 300 psi and 500 rpm, respectively, and was decreased in the higher values. But the recovery of copper from the fresh copper solution and $\alpha$-Etchent solution reached 90% and 60%, respectively. And in all tests the copper recovery from pure copper solution is higher by 30~40% than that from $\alpha$Etchent solution. 2) The recovery of copper was increased up to 30 minute of reaction time, and after then it became constant. The copper particles prepared in the initial 30 min have the needle-like shapes and in the longer reaction time than 30 min the shape was changed into noudle-like form. The average particle size was about $2~3\mu\textrm{m}$.

The Fluidity Properties of High Strength Concrete adding Copper Slag as Mineral Admixture (동제련 슬래그를 혼입한 고강도 콘크리트의 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the properties of high-fluidity concrete after adding copper slag as a mineral admixture. For this purpose, the replacement ratio of cement to copper slag was varied to 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. A slump flow test, reach time slump flow of 500 mm, and a U-Box and O-lot test were conducted on the fresh concrete. The compressive strength of the hardened concrete was determined at 3, 7, 14 and 28 days. According to the test results, the workability, compaction, and compressive strength of the high-fluidity concrete increased when replacing 30% of the cement with copper slag. These parameters decreased for all material ages with more than 30% copper slag, which was the optimal mixture ratio.

Effective PPL Arrangements in the Screen of Multimedia Contents (멀티미디어 콘텐츠화면에서의 효과적인 PPL 배치)

  • This study explores the attention effects of PPL(product placement) in multimedia contents. PPL has been attracted attention in multimedia as well as marketing communication field as a beneficiary model. For the research, multimedia screen is divided into 9 sections and the serial 9 digit($1{\sim}9$) is assigned to the each part of the screen. The visual exposure forms of each 9 digit are composed by 2-dimension(2D) and 3-dimension(3D). And the visual exposure patterns of each 9 digit are consisted of stopping and moving image. As a result, the 5th quartering has been proved the most attracted attention regardless of all exposure forms including 2D/3D and slopping/moving image. This means center of the multimedia screen is the best place for PPL. Especially in one digit moving screen the attention of the digit has reached the climax. This suggests moving PPL is able to get more attention than stopping. These results provide the most effective PPL position in the screen of the multimedia and PPL's visual exposure forms for maximizing multimedia user's attention. Finally, these findings can be a guideline fer message arrangements of the multimedia screen.
