Flight Range and Time Analysis for Classification of eVTOL PAV (eVTOL PAV 유형별 항속거리 및 항속시간 분석)

  • To overcome ground congestions due to growing number of cars, a lot of companies have proposed personal aerial vehicle (PAV). Among PAV, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts capable of vertical take-off and landing with electric power are drawing attention, and their configurations vary from multicopters to tilt ducted fans. This study tries to analyze the characteristics of each eVTOL design configurations. Parasite drag was calculated using component build up method for Vahana, Aurora, Volocopter representing each eVTOL PAV type of tilt-wing, compound, and multicopter. Wetted area and induced drag was calculated using OpenVSP and XFLR5 that are aircraft design and aerodynamic analysis software. The batteries used in the eVTOL PAV was assumed as Tesla 2170 batteries and flight ranges were calculated. Also, energy consumption and maximum flight time for the given mission profile including take-off and landing, cruising segments were compared for each eVTOL.

  • 발전소 냉각수 배수로에는 유속 2 m/s 이상의 빠른 흐름의 수로가 존재하여 수력발전을 꾀할 수 있어, 하동화력의 경우 조류발전 수차인 헬리컬 수차를 이용한 수력 개발이 진행 중이다. 하동화력 배수로는 약 630 m의 암거와 약 250 m의 개수로로 이루어져 있는데, 현재 상업용 발전설비 개발을 위해 시험용 수차발전 설비를 개수로로 이어지는 암거 출구부에 설치하여 성능 시험을 추진하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 발전 설비의 설치로 인한 수위 증가가 냉각수 순환 계통에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 배수로 구간의 수위변화 또는 압력변화를 수치해석을 통해 분석하였다. 배수로 암거 출구부에 가로 3.6 m ${\times}$ 세로 1.5 m 헬리컬 수차 1 set를 설치하는 경우 저조시에는 seal well 후단(하류측)의 수위가 seal well의 위어 정부표고를 넘지 않아 수차구조물에 의한 압력변화가 상류로 미치는 영향이 없었다. 그러나 고조시에는 seal well 전 후단이 만관 관수로 흐름이 되어 하류의 압력변화가 상류로 전파되었다. 단, 수차구조물을 설치한 경우 순환수 펌프를 처음 기동할 때 압력파의 전파로 인해 초기 약 10 분간 불안정한 압력변화가 발생하나 수차구조물 설치 전인 현상태에서 발생하는 압력변화 범위를 벗어나지는 않고 이내 안정되며, 수차구조물 설치로 인한 수위 증가분만큼의 펌프 양정고 증가로 소요 동력이 증가할 수 있으나 0.2 m 내외의 미약한 증가이므로 정상 운전에는 문제가 없을 것으로 판단되었다. 따라서 수차구조물 설치 시, 저조시에는 순환수계통에 영향을 주지 않으며, 고조시에도 일부 시간 동안 미약한 수두변화만 있을 뿐 순환수 계통의 안전에는 지장을 주지 않을 것으로 확인되었다.

Design and Output Characteristic Analysis of Electro-Mechanical Ignition Safety Device (전기-기계식 점화안전장치 설계 및 출력 특성 해석)

  • Electro-Mechanical Ignition Safety Device(EMISD) for solid rocket motor is designed and manufactured. The EMISD utilizes a true rotary solenoid for arming mechanism and an electric squib(initiator) for generating ignition energy. In order to prove the ignition capability of the EMISD, 10-cc Closed Bomb Test(CBT) is performed, which measures the pressure built by high temperature and high pressure gas generated by operating EMISD. The pressure built in the free volume of 10-cc closed bomb and the opening time of the ignition gas outlet are calculated using one dimensional gas dynamic model which is composed of the ideal gas equation and mass-energy conservation equation. Comparing the test result with model prediction, it is realized that the pressure built in the free volume of closed bomb due to the firing of EMISD, has the efficiency ratio of about 34%.

Numerical Study of Agitation Performance in a Drilling Mud Mixing Tank to Non-Newtonian Rheological Properties (시추용 머드혼합탱크의 비뉴턴 유체 모델에 대한 교반성능의 수치해석적 연구)

  • Non-Newtonian fluid mechanics takes charge of an important role in the oil industries. Especially in the oil well drilling process, the drilling fluid such as mud keeps the drill bit cool and clean during drilling, with suspending drill cuttings and lubricating a drill bit. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of fluid mud rheological properties to predict different characteristics of non-Newtonian fluid in the mud mixing tank on offshore drilling platforms. In this paper, ANSYS fluent package was used for the simulation to solve the hydrodynamic force and to evaluate mud mixing time. Prediction of the power consumption and the pumping effectiveness has been presented with different operating fluid models as Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid. The comparison between Newtonain mud model and non-Newtonian mud model is confirmed by the CFD simulation method of drilling mud mixing tank. The results present useful information for the design of the drilling mud mixing tanks and provide some guidance on the use of CFD tool for such non-Newtonian fluid flow.

  • In this paper, a mechanical analysis model for steep-slope log-skidding operations of a rubber-tired tractor is discussed and the applicability of the model is investigated. The model largely consists of mathematical analysis models for log drag, dynamic vehicle weight distributions and soil-vehicle traction. For the case study, a theoretical data set for log skidding operations is used in investigating the effect of the factors influencing the results of mechanical analysis or the productivity of skidding operations. The analyses include 1) the effect of log choking methods on tangential log-skidding force, 2) the effects of the change in travel speed and log load on the required input power to the wheels and 3) the log skidding performance of a two-wheel drive compared with that of a four-wheel drive.

Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Spacing in Coaxial Propeller Multi-Copter in Hovering (멀티콥터용 동축반전 프로펠러 상하 간격에 따른 제자리 비행 공력 특성에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • In this study, a numerical analysis was performed on 26 inch single and coaxial propeller using the ANSYS Fluent 19.0 Solver to analyse the effect of the distance between coaxial propellers as one of the design parameter. The Moving Reference Frame (MRF) method was used for single propeller, while the sliding mesh method was used for a coaxial propeller to analyse the flow field varying with azimuth angle. The thrust and power are decreased as the upper and lower propeller approaching each other. As H/D is increased, interference between the propellers is decreased. According to the flow field variable contour of the coaxial propeller, it appears that the change in aerodynamic performance is due to the loading effect and the tip vortex wake effect.

  • In this study, the performance of a thermo siphon type radiator made of copper for LED lighting system was evaluated by using an inverse heat transfer method. Heating experiments and finite element heat transfer analysis were conducted for three different cases. The data obtained from experiments were compared with the analysis results. Based on the data obtained from experiments, the inverse heat transfer method was used in order to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient. First, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, without the refrigerant. The evaluated heat transfer coefficient on the radiator surface was 40W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Second, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, with the refrigerant, resulting in the heat transfer coefficient of 95W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$ for the radiator body, 5W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. As a result of inverse heat transfer analysis, it was confirmed that the thermal performance of the current radiator was best in the case of the vacuum state using the refrigerant.

  • 남강은 낙동강에 유입되는 지류 중 가장 큰 하천으로서 낙동강 하류의 수질에 매우 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 남강댐은 저수 용량에 비해 유역면적이 주요 저수지들에 비하여 월등하게 크므로 홍수시 순간적으로 다량의 유량 및 오염물질이 방류되어 낙동강에 유입되는 특성을 가지고 있다. 남강댐은 서북측에서 유입되는 경호강과 남쪽에서 댐축과 가까이 유입되는 덕천강이 공간적으로 멀리 떨어져 있음으로 인해, 주요 유입물질이 유입되는 시기에 횡방향 및 종방향으로 농도차이를 나타내고 있으며, 과거에 설치되었던 댐이 수중에 존재함으로 인해 국지적인 정체현상이 발생하고 있다. 남강은 현재 경남권은 물론, 거제 및 부산권의 용수원을 공급하거나 예정으로 있으므로 수질관리에 가장 큰 우선순위를 두어야 한다. 남강댐의 합리적인 수질관리를 위해서는 호 내의 공간적 시간적 수질변화에 대한 이해와 수질변화 여건에 있으며 이용되는 만큼 호 내의 정밀한 유체거동 해석이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 남강댐의 수리-수질 특성을 진단하고 예측하기 위하여 3차원 수리동역학 모델인 EFDC와 수질모델인 WASP을 연계하여 사용하였다. 유량 경계조건은 한국수자원공사 및 국가수자원관리 종합 정보시스템(WAMIS)의 남강댐 운영 자료를 바탕으로 남강댐의 유입량과 유출량 자료를 작성하였다. 남강으로 유입되는 지천 및 호 내의 수온, SS 및 수질농도 등은 환경부의 물환경정보시스템의 월 측정자료를 사용하였으며, 기상조건은 진주 기상대의 자료를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 가용한 입력자료를 이용하여 남강댐의 수리 및 수질 및 부유물질 특성을 모의하였으며 EFDC-WASP 모델을 이용하여 성공적인 보정이 가능한 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 자세한 분석과 대책을 수립하기 위해서는 남강댐의 유입 수질 및 유량 자료에 대한 실질적인 모니터링이 수행되는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다.

A Mathematical Model of Undertow in the Surf Zone (쇄파대(碎波帶)에서 undertow에 관한 수학적(數學的) 모형(模型))

  • An analytical model of undertow is presented in the surf zone. Each term of the derived governing equation is evaluated by the ordering methods. Then the turbulent normal stresses and the streaming velocity terms are neglected. The driving force of undertow is derived from the wave profile which is approximated by the 4th order Chebyshev polynomials. The three types of vertical distribution of eddy viscosity are assumed and the coefficient of eddy viscosity is decided from the new boundary condition. So the input parameters for the calculation of undertow become very simple. The theoretical solutions of the present model are compared with the various experimental results. This model shows a good agreement with the experimental results in the case of mild slope and linear type eddy viscosity.

  • The characteristics of bearingless main rotor of helicopter are investigated through non-rotating tests and rotating tests. The stiffness and natural frequencies of rotor blades, flexbeam, and torque tube which are core components of baearingless rotor are measured to obtain input material properties for rotor analysis. The functional test on ground for assembly of one hub with damper, snubber, and no blade is carried out to check interfaces between components, kinematics of components, and pitch motion ranges under applied loads including centrifugal load. The 4-bladed bearingless rotor with 5.82m of rotor radius is tested on the whirl tower with rotation plane of 9.65m height. The thrust and power are measured to obtain hover performance and the frequencies and dampings of the rotor are obtained by excitation of cyclic pitch by hydraulic actuators.
