Performance Enhancement of RMRAC Controller for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor using Disturbance Observer (외란관측기를 이용한 영구자석 동기전동기에 대한 참조모델 견실적응 제어기의 성능개선)

  • PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) current control is a most inner loop of electromechanical driving systems and it plays a foundation role in the hierarchy's control loop of several mechanical machine systems. In this paper, a simple RMRAC control scheme for the PMSM is proposed in the synchronous frame. In the synchronous current model, the input signal is composed of as a calculated voltage by adaptive laws and system disturbances. The gains of feed-forward and feed-back controller are estimated by the proposed e-modification methods respectively, where the disturbances are assumed as filtered current tracking errors. After the estimation of the disturbances from the tracking errors, the corresponding voltage is fed forward to control input to compensate for the disturbances. The proposed method is robust to high frequency disturbances and has a fast dynamic response to time varying reference current trajectory. It also shows a good real-time performance duo to it's simplicity of control structure. Through the simulations considering several cases of external disturbances and experimental results, efficiency of the proposed method is verified

Analysis of Current Control Stability using PI Control in Synchronous Reference Frame for Grid-Connected Inverter with LCL Filter (LCL 필터를 사용하는 계통연계형 인버터의 동기좌표계 PI 전류제어 안정도 해석)

  • In this paper, current control using PI controller in the synchronous reference frame is analyzed through the relationship among bandwidth, resonance frequency, and sampling frequency in the grid-connected inverter with LCL filter. Stability is investigated by using bode plot in frequency domain and root locus in discrete domain. The feedback variable is the grid current, which is regulated by the PI controller in the synchronous reference frame. System delay is modeled as 1.5Ts, which contains computational and PWM modulator delay. Two resonance frequencies are given at 815 Hz and 3.16 kHz from LCL filter parameters. Sufficient phase and gain margins can be obtained to guarantee stable current control, in case that resonance frequency is above one-sixth of the sampling frequency. Unstable current control is performed when resonance frequency is below one-sixth of the sampling frequency. Analysis results of stability from frequency response and discrete response is the same regardless of resonance frequency. Finally, stability of current control based on theoretical analysis is clearly verified through simulation and experiment in grid-connected inverters with LCL filter.

A Stable Startup Method of V/f Scalar Controlled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (V/f 스칼라 제어 영구자석 동기 전동기의 안정적 초기 구동 기법)

  • This study presents a stable start-up strategy for v/f scalar-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). The v/f-controlled PMSMs easily lose synchronism under low-speed conditions if an insufficient stator voltage is applied to the machine due to errors in measured motor parameters and inverter nonlinearity, such as inverter dead time and on-state voltage drop. The proposed method adopts the I/f control method to ensure a stable start at low speeds and then switches to the v/f control method at medium speeds. A smooth transition method from I/f control to v/f control is proposed to minimize the oscillation of the stator current and rotor speed during transition. Moreover, the stability of the I/f and v/f control methods is analyzed using a small-signal model. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the performance of the proposed control strategy.

  • The mechanical informations such as the rotor speed and angle are required to operate the Cylindrical Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM). A resolver or encoder is typically used to supply the mechanical informations. This position sensor adds length to the machine, raises system cost, increases rotor inertia and requires additional devices. As the result, there has been a significant interest in the development of sensorless strategies to eliminate the position sensor. This paper presents an implementation of the new sensorless speed comtrol scheme for a PMSM. In the proposed algorithm, the line currents are estimated by a observer and the estimated speed can be yielded from the voltage equation because the information of speed is included in back emf. But the speed estimation error between the estimated and the real speeds is occured by errors due to measuring the motor parameters and sensing the line current and the input voltage. To minimize the speed estimations error, the estimated speeds are compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power in synchronously rotating reference frame. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is not affected by mechanical motor parameters because the mechanical equation is not used. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.

  • This paper presents a new vector control algorithm of the surface mounted permanent magnet motor (SMPMM) without any rotational tranceducer. Originally, SMPMM does not have any magnetic saliency in structure, but it has a little magnetic saliency due to the saturation by the flux of the permanent magnet. Moreover, it varies according to the load conditions and the control performance of schematics using the saliency can be easily degraded. To prevent it and to improve the performance of the proposed algorithm, the saliency of a SMPMM under various load conditions is analyzed. In the proposed algorithm, the saliency or the impedance difference related to the saliency is utilized in order to estimate the position and speed of the rotor. And the high frequency signal is injected into the motor to measure the impedance difference and also to enhance the control performance of the system. The experimental results verify the performance of the proposed sensorless algorithm.

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • Recently industrial control systems have been required to ensure intelligent, high tech automation, interconnection and interoperability demands. Therefore, there is a need to redefine the structure concepts of SCADA system for wind power. Also, at this time, the integrated management system is required for the distributed development of wind farms where are needed often interoperability features and exchange information between different wind farms, wind turbines or SCADA systems. In this paper, an integrated structural concepts for SCADA system are defined. Based on this definition of an integrated SCADA system, the basic designs are analyzed on physical layer, system layer and application layer which are corresponded to wind turbine controller, the SCADA server and the SCADA client, and implement HMI. Between the implementation SCADA server and the client, their normal functions were verified at the small scale wind energy test facilities.

Sensor-less Speed Control of PMSM for Driving Oil-free Air Compressor (무급유식 공기압축기 구동을 위한 영구자석 동기 모터의 센서리스 속도제어)

  • This paper suggests the sensor-less speed control of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) without the position sensor of oil-free air compressor. It estimated d and q axis back electro motive force using Back-EMF (Electro motive Force) observer to control sensor-less speed of PMSM. Also it used the method that tracks the information of rotor position and speed using PLL (Phase Locked Loop) based on estimated d and q axis Back-EMF. The sensor-less speed control of PMSM for oil air compressor application is carried out with the introduced rotor position and speed tracking method. In this paper, the experimental characterization of the sensor-less drive is provided to verify the accuracy of the estimated position and the performance of sensor-less control is analyzed by results obtained from the experiment. Moreover, the potential of PMSM sensor-less drive in industrial application such as compressor drive is also examined.

다목적실용위성 3호 초기 궤도조정 결과 분석

  • 다목적실용위성 3호는 2012년 5월 발사되어, 위성 기능점검을 위한 시험을 성공적으로 완료하였다. 위성이 발사체로부터 분리된 이후 임무궤도(고도 685km, 승교점 지방시 13시 30분을 갖는 태양동기궤도)를 획득하기 위해서는 궤도조정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 다목적실용위성 3호의 초기운영 기간 동안 수행한 총 10번의 궤도조정 계획 및 결과에 대해 기술하였다. 궤도조정 1 단계에서는 궤도조정 절차 및 기능을 점검하기 위해 6번의 시험 궤도조정을 순차적으로 수행하였고 이후 2 단계에서는 임무궤도 진입을 위해 4번의 궤도조정을 실시하였다. 궤도조정을 위해서는 원하는 추력분사 방향을 맞추기 위해 롤 방향 또는 피치 방향의 자세제어가 필요한데, 추력기를 사용하여 자세를 기동하는 모드(Del-V Mode)와 휠을 사용하여 자세를 기동하는 모드(Fine Del-V Mode)로 구분된다. 시험 궤도조정에서는 우선적으로 두 가지 모드에 대한 모드전환 시험을 실시하여 위성체 및 지상국 운영절차에 대한 이상 유무를 점검하였고, 이후 추력기 분사량을 10초로 설정하여 예측 대비 실제 궤도변경 결과값을 확인하였다. 시험 궤도조정의 결과를 토대로 본 궤도조정에서는 임무궤도를 획득하기 위한 경사각 조정 및 고도 조정을 수행하였다. 경사각 조정 시에는 승교점 지방시의 변화량을 줄이고, 이후 자연 교란력에 의한 궤도변화를 고려하여 목표궤도를 계획하였다. 또한, 고도 조정 단계에서는 연료 사용량 및 이심률 변화를 최소화 할 수 있도록 전형적인 호만 궤도천이 방식을 적용하였다. 궤도조정 결과 당초 목표한 값을 정확하게 달성하였고, 궤도조정 이후 궤도변화도 장기간 동안 임무궤도 범위를 유지함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Extended Kalman Filter Design for Sensorless Control of IPMSM Drive (IPMSM의 센서리스 운전을 위한 확장 칼만 필터 설계)

  • In this paper, a design of speed and position controller based on the EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) for sensorless control in IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is proposed. The proposed method subdivides the state estimation interval for improving the accuracy of state estimation. and each subdivided interval estimated first order term using Taylor series. The proposed state estimator comparison with the second-order extended Kalman filter reduced calculation amount of a priori estimation. And the simulation results were proved that The accuracy of priori estimation is increased.
