Study on CMPO (Carbamoylphosphate) derivative functionalized ordered mesoporous silicates for selective removal of lanthanide (희토류 원소의 분리를 위한 표면 개질 된 메조 다공성 실리케이트의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Carbamoylphosphate (CMPO) [CMPO analogue; 2-(diphenylphosphoryl)-N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)acetamide]silane, as a functional self-assembled molecules, grafted mesoporous silicates were prepared by simple hydrolysis and condensation reaction. Pore sized tailored mesoporous silicates such as MCM-41, SBA-15, or amorphous silica nanoparticles were adopted as host materials. The surface area of ordered mesoporous silicates was ranged from 680 $m^2/g$ to 1310 $m^2/g$ with different pore diameters that estimated to be ca. 2.3~9.1 nm by BJH method. Among the OMMs host materials, SBA-15(II) has higher loading ratio (~35 wt%) of CMPO derivative than other OMMs. Accessibility to CMPO silane functional groups in the surface of mesoporous silicas was studied by lanthanide ions sorption experiments. All of the CMPO modified OMMs favors the smaller Eu(III) and Nd(III) cations than La(III) for relative larger ionic radius.

The Preparation of Antibacterial Activated Carbon fibers and Their Application (항균성 탄소섬유의 제조와 그의 응용)

  • Upon the Preparation of activated carbon fiber(ACF) using chemical activation method and vapour activation method, the fiber obtained from the vapour activation method shows excellent surface Properties. The preparation of antibacterial activated carbon fiber was tried to open the new areas in application of carbon materials. The BET specific surface area and the average pore radius of the antibacterial ACFs were in the range of 844.27~1575.6 $cm^2$/g and 10.6~12.9 (equation omitted), respectively. From the adsorption studies on the antibacterial ACFs, typical Type I isotherms were obtained. And, from the SEM morphology results, it was observed that the surface of ACFs was partially coated by antibacterial materials after the treatment. Finally, from the antibacterial effects of antibacteral ACFs against E. coli, excellent antibacterial activity was shown. Concerning the above results, antibacterial ACFs can have wide application in the areas of sterilization, anti-fragrant. anti-insects.

Determining the Optimal Frequency of Ground Penetrating Radar for Detecting Voids in Pavements (도로동공 탐지를 위한 지표투과레이더의 적정 주파수 선정에 관한 연구)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to determine the optimal frequency of ground penetrating radar (GPR) testing for detecting the voids under the pavement. METHODS : In order to determine the optimal frequency of GPR testing for void detection, a full-scale test section was constructed to simulate the actual size of voids under the pavement. Voids of various sizes were created by inserting styrofoam at varying depths under the pavement. Subsequently, 250-, 500-, and 800-MHz ground-coupled GPR testing was conducted in the test section and the resulting GPR signals were recorded. The change in the amplitude of these signals was evaluated by varying the GPR frequency, void size, and void depth. The optimum frequency was determined from the amplitude of the signals. RESULTS: The capacity of GPR to detect voids under the pavement was evaluated by using three different ground-coupled GPR frequencies. In the case of the B-scan GPR data, a parabolic shape occurred in the vicinity of the voids. The maximum GPR amplitude in the A-scan data was used to quantitatively determine the void-detection capacity. CONCLUSIONS: The 250-MHz GPR testing enabled the detection of 10 out of 12 simulated voids, whereas the 500-MHz testing allowed the detection of only five. Furthermore, the amplitude of GPR detection associated with 250-MHz testing is significantly higher than that of 500-MHz testing. This indicates that 250-MHz GPR testing is well-suited for the detection of voids located at depths ranging from 0.5~2.0 m. Testing at frequencies lower than 250 MHz is recommended for void detection at depths greater than 2 m.

Two Modified T2 Sympathicotomies in Palmar Hyperhidrosis (수장부 다한증에서 두가지 변형된 교감신경절 차단술)

  • Background: Thoracoscopic T2 sympathicotomy had been performed as a simple and effective method in treating palmar hyperhidrosis, however, this method had the complications of compensatory hyperhidrosis and facial anhidrosis. Therefore, a more limited and modified methods for T2 sympathicotomies were introduced and comparative analysis of the modified upper and lower T2 sympathicotomy were made in the treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis. Material and Method: From January 1997 to December 1998, 41 patients with palmar hyperhidrosis had been treated by modified T2 sympathicotomy at the Kon-Kuk University Seoul Hospital. Twenty-four patients underwent a modified upper T2 sympathicotomy(Group A), and seventeen patients underwent a modified lower sympathicotomy(Group B). A comparison between groups A and B were made according to the medical records and interview results. Result: All patients showed symptomatic improvements after the operation. The anisocoria, facial anhidrosis and dissatisfaction for compensatory hyperhidrosis were more common in Group A and the individual satisfaction for the operations were higher in Group B. Conclusion: The modified lower T2 sympathicotomy might be a more effective and less complicated method than the modified upper T2 sympathicotomy.

Histological Characteristics of Korean Red Ginseng in Steaming Processes (증숙과정에서 고려인삼의 조직학적 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate histological characteristics of Korean ginseng in steaming process. The Korean red ginseng were prerared with 6-years-old ginseng according to the steaming prcess and dried with $13{\pm}0.5%$ moisture and than cut in vertical section and horizontal section. The tissues are separated into epidermis, cortex, and xylem observed with Scanning Electron Microscope. The materials dried without steaming process contain cell membrane and crystallization of starch particle within them. But Korean red ginseng with prolonged steaming process are condensed, and the large hollows and cell membranes of vessel and resin duct are disappeared. In addition, Ca-oxalate rosette crystal is not found in the case of above 60-minute steaming time. The reason is that the tissues are condensed because of dry after elements' gelatinization.

  • 최근 염료감응형 태양전지(DSSC)는 광변환효율 측면에서 향상 가능성이 높으며, 전기화학적 반응을 바탕으로 하므로 생산단가가 낮아 차세대 태양전지로 관심을 모우고 있다. 염료감응형 태양전지에 있어서 주요 구성성분 중의 하나는 다공성 산화물 광전극 재료이다. 다양한 반도체 물질과 비교할 때 $TiO_2$는 전도대의 위치와 전자이동성 면에서 비교적 적합하며, 유기물과의 흡착성 및 안정성 측면에서 대단히 우수하다. 염료감응형 태양전지의 $TiO_2$ 광전극이 갖추어야 할 요건은 표면적이 넓어서 염료 흡착량이 많아야 하며, 전자전달 및 전해질 이동을 위한 효율적 구조이어야 한다. $TiO_2$ 광전극 제작을 위한 재료로서는 나노입자가 널리 이용되며, 입자의 크기는 20 nm 부근이 적합한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 발표에서는 나노입자 외에 나노막대, 나노섬유, 나노튜브, inverse-opal 구조 등과 같이 지금까지 연구되고 있는 $TiO_2$ 나노구조 관련연구를 소개 한다. 한편으로 효율적 전극구조를 제작하려면 $TiO_2$ 나노구조 제어 외에도, 투명전극과 $TiO_2$ 전극과의 계면층(interfacial layer) 제어, 빛의 효율적 이용을 위한 산란층(scattering layer) 및 $TiO_2$ 전극에서 전해질로의 전자손실 억제를 위한 blocking layer 도입 등이 필요하다. 이에 대한 기본개념을 설명하고 다른 연구자의 연구결과를 소개한다. 본 연구실의 연구 결과인, 메조 포러스 구조, 다공성 속빈구 구조와 구형구조체를 합성하고 이를 염료감응형 태양전지에 응용한 내용을 소개한다. 다공성 속빈구의 경우, 산란층으로 대단히 우수한 결과를 나타내었고, 다공성 구형구조체는 광전극 주재료로 적합한 특성을 나타내었다. 즉, 다공성 구형구조체를 적용한 광전극은 표면적이 대단히 넓고 또한 효율적 동공구조가 형성되어 전해질 이동에도 매우 효율적이다.

Rotation-Invariant Iris Recognition Method Based on Zernike Moments (Zernike 모멘트 기반의 회전 불변 홍채 인식)

  • Iris recognition is a biometric technology which can identify a person using the iris pattern. It is important for the iris recognition system to extract the feature which is invariant to changes in iris patterns. Those changes can be occurred by the influence of lights, changes in the size of the pupil, and head tilting. In this paper, we propose a novel method based on Zernike Moment which is robust to rotations of iris patterns. we utilized a selection of Zernike moments for the fast and effective recognition by selecting global optimum moments and local optimum moments for optimal matching of each iris class. The proposed method enables high-speed feature extraction and feature comparison because it requires no additional processing to obtain the rotation invariance, and shows comparable performance to the well-known previous methods.

Case Report of Oculomotor Nerve Palsy with Mydriasis Improved by Sa-Am Acupuncture (사암침으로 호전된 동공산대를 동반한 동안신경마비 1례)

  • This study aims to report a case of oculomotor nerve palsy with mydriasis improved by Sa-Am acupuncture (大腸正格). The patient visited our clinic due to Right oculomotor nerve palsy with symptoms such as periocular pain, diplopia, vertigo, ptosis, eye adduction disorder, and mydriasis on November 11th, 2019. For the treatment, Sa-Am acupuncture (大腸正格) which used to give a significant effect on eye diseases and headaches and to remove toxins from the body was performed every time the patient visited the clinic. About a month after the treatment, ptosis disappeared, and eye adduction disorder also changed from -2 to 2 points, showing a significant improvement. Subjective symptoms such as vertigo, diplopia, and eye pain also significantly decreased from 13 to 4 points. At the second month of treatment, the eye adduction disorder improved to a normal level, and subjective ocular discomforts disappeared. The pupil size decreased from 5 mm to 2.5 mm. After 3-4 months from the start of treatment, most of the symptoms including the light reflex returned to normal. After a total of 32 acupunctures treatment, subjective symptoms such as periocular pain, diplopia and vertigo, as well as ptosis and eye adduction disorder disappeared, and the pupil size, including the light reflex, also improved to the normal level.

4H-SiC bulk single crystal growth using recycled powder (재생 분말을 활용한 4H-SiC 벌크 단결정 성장)

  • This study is to verify the feasibility of SiC single crystal growth using recycled SiC powder. The fundamental physical properties such as particle size, shape, composition and impurities of the recycled powder were analyzed, and the sublimation behavior occurring inside the reactor were predicted using the basic data. As a result of comprehensive judgment, the physical properties of the recycled powder were suitable for single crystal growth, and single crystal growth experiments were conducted using this. 100 mm 4H-SiC single crystal ingot with a height of 25 mm was grown without polytype inclusion. In the case of micro-pipe density was 0.02 ea/cm2 and resistivity characteristics was 0.015~0.020 ohm·cm2, commercial level quality was obtained, but additional analysis related to dislocation density and stacking faults is required for device application.

Design and Implementation of a Concentration-based Review Support Tool for Real-time Online Class Participants (실시간 온라인 수업 수강자들의 집중력 기반 복습 지원 도구의 설계 및 구현)

  • Due to the recent pandemic, most educational systems are being conducted through online classes. Unlike face-to-face classes, it is even more difficult for learners to maintain concentration, and evaluating the learners' attitude toward the class is also challenging. In this paper, we proposed a real-time concentration-based review support system for learners in real-time video lectures that can be used in online classes. This system measured the learner's face, pupils, and user activity in real-time using the equipment used in the existing video system, and delivers real-time concentration measurement values to the instructor in various forms. At the same time, if the concentration measurement value falls below a certain level, the system alerted the learner and records the timestamp of the lecture. By using this system, instructors can evaluate the learners' participation in the class in real-time and help to improve their class abilities.
