The purpose of this study is to identify reading competency and its components according to the concept of reading competency in order to strengthen the reading competency of children and adolescents with disabilities, develop diagnostic questions, and provide basic data for the development of a reading competency diagnostic tool for children and adolescents with disabilities, Research methods include literature research, brainstorming, delphi survey, and preliminary research. As a result of the study, the components of the reading competency diagnostic tool are broadly divided into 2 areas (affective domain, environmental domain), 4 categories (reading motivation, reading attitude, human environment, and physical environment), and a total of 13 components in each of the 4 categories (Reading interest, reading value, reading recognition, reading expectations, reading habits, reading efficacy, reading immersion, reading anxiety (avoidance), home/family, school/teacher, peers, reading environment, media environment) and the corresponding questions. was developed. Based on these results, a direction for developing a reading competency diagnostic tool for children and adolescents with disabilities was presented.

In this study, I examined the current situation of the reading instruction policy and the entity of the arguments and criticism surrounding the reading instruction policy. In addition, on the basis of this research I analyzed the problems of the reading instruction policy. Moreover, I suggested for the desirable direction and alternative of the reading instruction policy and the reading instruction.

The purpose of this study was to survey the current situation of young adults' reading programs in public library. For this purpose, this study conducted a questionnaire survey to the young adults' program librarians on the current state of the young adults' reading programs. The public libraries have managed reading classroom as a way of life-long education. This reading education is very important to children and young people. But reading education program done by the public libraries is not scientific and systematic. The purpose of this study are to identify real situation of the reading classroom management program through a practical materials(ex: the schedule of reading classroom) and a questionnaire survey of librarians managing this program and to provide developing model for effective reading education management program in public library.

A public reading campaign is a sociocultural movement that can stimulate a sense of community. The 'One Book, One City' reading campaign, as a typical public reading campaign, was established as a new reading paradigm by sharing cultural experiences among community residents through discussions after reading 'one book,' thus evoking a sense of community. This study focuses on the 'One Book, SeongBuk' reading campaign in Seongbuk-Gu, Seoul, which was awarded the title of '2012 Year of Reading' program. In line with this, this study examines the theoretical background of the public reading campaign, looks into the background and contents of the 'One Book, SeongBuk' reading campaign in Seongbuk-Gu, and analyzes and pinpoints the factors that influence the campaign. By so doing, this study aims at enhancing our understanding of the public reading campaign.

Present study was conducted to explore the effect of productive reading habit (PRH) and construal of reading on reading performance, and to identify any psychological differences between those who read continuously and those who do not. For this purpose, 309 adolescents were divided into a group with a lowly level of productive reading habit(PRH) and a group with a highly level of PRH, and a concrete(why) versus abstract(how) construal of reading were primed, and reading performance were investigated for 6 weeks. After that, chi-square analysis and analysis of variance were performed on the collected data. As a result, the group with highly PRH had more days of reading and longer total reading time than the group with lowly PRH. Also, in the group with a highly PRH, the number of days of reading and reading time did not differ according to the construal of reading. On the other hand, the group with a lowly PRH had more reading days and a longer total reading time under the condition of concrete construal of reading than the condition of abstract construal. This study shows that a concrete construal can be helpful in enabling people with lowly productive habit(PH) to initiate a task and maintain concentration to the task.

The purpose of this study was to identify ways in which to improve assistance of reading culture promotion for reading disables in Busan Metropolitan City. The research conducted a survey on reading culture promotion works which were conducted through related public institutions, private organizations and facilities for disadvantaged class, including public libraries. This study analyzed the situations in Busan. The Results indicated promotional strategies are needed in reading culture for the handicapped. This study suggest ways in which to improve assistance through analytical research which are models of mutual cooperation for reading culture promotion in Busan.

For the sake of activating web-based reading education in the public libraries, This study examine the practical use of web-based reading education and research into its activation. Web-based reading, red the book at any time/where with librarian and user, is to achieve the goal of reading education. The methods are to set up Home page of reading education through Internet, to guide user in various web-based reading materials and reading planning at any time. In addition, It is to be completed interactive action such as book review, reading dicussion through E-mail, a bulletin board, chatting etc. with librarian or user.

The students were instructed to prepare the materials for the reading discussion as they read books by the analytical reading, in order to make them know the efficient method of the reading discussion as activity of after reading. As the results, They understood the plot and substance of the book, comprehend the whole subject and selected the subject of the discussion better after they read books by the analytical reading than after they didn't. But it's not satisfactory to communicate their own ideas mutually during the reading discussion as before.
