Implementation of A Dielectric-Resonator Oscillator for the Microwave Radar Sensor Applications (마이크로파 레이더 센서 응용을 위한 발진기 설계 및 제작)

  • Recently, sensors which use the infrared light, supersonic waves, and electromagnetic waves have been used for many applications to detect information of the object. For these sensors, the accompanying system which utilizes the sensor should be systematically developed. In this paper, a general microwave radar sensor system is briefly described, and then basic applications of a CW doppler radar sensor system are introduced. For the CW doppler radar sensor applications, a highly-stable, low-cost Dielectric Resonator Oscillator (DRO) has also been designed and implemented, which can be used for commercial microwave sensor systems. The implemented DRO has output power of +5.33 dBm at 12.67 GHz and phase noise of -108.5 dBc/Hz at the 100 kHz offset frequency.

  • 최근 무선통신기반 열차제어시스템의 국산화 개발이 진행 중에 있으며, 이동폐색 및 열차간격의 효율적인 제어를 위해서는 열차에 서 직접 열차의 이동위치와 속도를 정확하게 실시간으로 파악할 수 있어야 한다. 하지만 기존 철도시스템에서는 열차의 위치 및 속도확인을 위해 궤도회로와 타코메터를 이용하고 있으며, 효율적인 열차제어를 위해 지상설비의 도움없이 안전하고 정확한 열차위치정보의 확보가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 위성항법수신기, 관성센서, 도플러레이더센서, 타코메터와 같이 열차에 탑재 가능한 위치 및 속도센서를 통합 적용하여 단독으로 열차 위치 및 속도파악이 가능한 차상기반 열차위치검지 장치를 구성하고, 한국형 틸팅열차 탑재시험을 통해 위치정확성을 평가하고 철도운영 환경에서의 적용성을 확인한다.

  • 전방감지용 밀리미터파 레이더는 밀리미터파를 이용하여 자동차 등에 부착하여 송신파와 수신파 사이의 도플러 주파수 편이를 이용하여 선행차량 또는 전방의 장애물과의 거리와 상대속도를 판별하는 장치로서 적응형 순항제어 시스템(adaptive cruise control system) 등에 이용되는 핵심 기술이다. 적응형 순항제어 시스템이란 레이더 센서를 통하여 전방 선행 차량, 장애물의 속도 및 거리를 측정하여 차량의 충돌 경고, 주행 상황에 따른 자동적인 감속 및 가속, 정속 등 안전주행을 가능하도록 하는 기술이다. 본 기술 동향 분석보고서는 전방감지용 레이더 센서에 관한 기술 동향을 살펴보기 위하여 미국, EU, 일본, 한국의 전방감지용 레이더 센서에 관한 특허를 1991년부터 2005년까지의 특허출원을 중심으로 연도별 추이와 국가별 특허출원 동향, 출원인별 특허출원 동향 등을 분석하여 전방감지용 레이더의 세계 기술 추이에 대하여 알아보았다.

  • This paper reports the absolute position tracking algorithm of underwater vehicles such as ROV, AUV in global region by fusing sensor informations of IMU, DVL, USBL, DGPS etc. This algorithm is to be used in the position tracking of the 6,000m class deep-sea unmanned underwater vehicle, HEMIRE for scientific exploration.

Automatic speech recognition using acoustic doppler signal (초음파 도플러를 이용한 음성 인식)

  • In this paper, a new automatic speech recognition (ASR) was proposed where ultrasonic doppler signals were used, instead of conventional speech signals. The proposed method has the advantages over the conventional speech/non-speech-based ASR including robustness against acoustic noises and user comfortability associated with usage of the non-contact sensor. In the method proposed herein, 40 kHz ultrasonic signal was radiated toward to the mouth and the reflected ultrasonic signals were then received. Frequency shift caused by the doppler effects was used to implement ASR. The proposed method employed multi-channel ultrasonic signals acquired from the various locations, which is different from the previous method where single channel ultrasonic signal was employed. The PCA(Principal Component Analysis) coefficients were used as the features of ASR in which hidden markov model (HMM) with left-right model was adopted. To verify the feasibility of the proposed ASR, the speech recognition experiment was carried out the 60 Korean isolated words obtained from the six speakers. Moreover, the experiment results showed that the overall word recognition rates were comparable with the conventional speech-based ASR methods and the performance of the proposed method was superior to the conventional signal channel ASR method. Especially, the average recognition rate of 90 % was maintained under the noise environments.

Sensor Fusion for Underwater Navigation of Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (무인잠수정의 수중합법을 위한 센서융합)

  • In this paper we propose a sensor fusion method for the navigation algorithm which can be used to estimate state vectors such as position and velocity for its motion control using multi-sensor output measurements. The output measurement we will use in estimating the state is a series of known multi-sensor asynchronous outputs with measurement noise. This paper investigates the Extended Kalman Filtering method to merge asynchronous heading, heading rate, velocity of DVL, and SSBL information to produce a single state vector. Different complexity of Kalman Filter, with. biases and measurement noise, are investigated with theoretically data from MOERI's SAUV. All levels of complexity of the Kalman Filters are shown to be much more close and smooth to real trajectories then the basic underwater acoustic navigation system commonly used aboard underwater vehicle.

  • Spray combustion has been used in many industrial fields, for instance, such as diesel engines, gas turbines and industrial furnaces, and furthermore various measurement techniques have been applied to elucidate the phenomenon of spray combustion. In order to measure simultaneously the droplet velocity and the droplet size of spray, phase doppler anemometry (PDA) was frequently used in spray combustion. However, the measurement error is occurred due to existence of flame, which is considered as influencing the precision of measurement. Therefore, the purpose of this study is experimentally to conduct the systematic evaluation on the measurement error when PDA measurement is applied to combustion field.

  • This paper presents the outlier detection algorithm in the estimation method of a source location and velocity based on two-step weighted least-squares method using time difference of arrival(TDOA) and frequency difference of arrival(FDOA) data. Since the accuracy of the estimated location and velocity of a moving source can be reduced by the outliers of TDOA and FDOA data, it is important to detect and remove the outliers. In this paper, the method to find the minimum inlier data and the method to determine whether TDOA and FDOA data are included in inliers or outliers are presented. The results of numerical simulations show that the accuracy of the estimated location and velocity is improved by removing the outliers of TDOA and FDOA data.

  • An acoustic velocity profiler is developed, which is able to be used for open-channel flow measurement. It measures flow velocity based Doppler effect on acoustic signals, which is estimated by using pulse repetition frequency technique. Laboratory and field tests were made to verify velocity measuring performance of the developed device. It is confirmed that the acoustic velocity profiler can normally measure vertical velocity profile in the range above 0.1 m from the bottom and has equivalent performance to commercial acoustic velocity measuring devices.

  • A Missile Warning Radar is an essential sensor for active protection system to detect antitank missile in all weather environments. This paper presents the design, development, and test results of L-band pulsed Doppler radar system for main battle tank. This radar system consists of 3 LRUs, which include antenna unit, transmitter and receiver unit and radar signal & data processing unit. The developed core technologies include the patch antenna, SSPA transmitter, coherent I/Q detector, DSP based Doppler FFT filter, adaptive CFAR, SIW tracking capability, and threat decision. The design performance of the developed radar system is verified through various ground fixed and moving vehicle test.
