This study intends to analyze materials which Korea and Japan have investigated about each other during last In years(1901-2000). To the end, we collected monographs and constructed DBs('Korea-Japan Information Retrieval System'). Using it, this study analyzed a characteristic of the publication period, subjects, and producers from a bibliographical point of view. In particular, this study concentrated upon the subject of sociology, education, public administration, and law fields.

The purpose of this study is a survay and analysis about the curriculum for assistant librarian. for this pupose, first a literature study was done along with interviews with assistant libraian, second a questionnaries survay was conducted among professor, library administriatiors and assistant librarians, and the survey data were analysed by SAS packages.

With the advancement of internet technology, traditional university libraries are going through metamorphosis into digital libraries. Digital libraries substitute digital files for printed materials, metadata for catalogues, world wide users on the network for localized patrons, while offering limitless possibilities for easy downloading of information. The aim of the study is to present a model for our digital library based on the knowledge auquired from the analysis of the state of the art technology employed in building and managing digital libraries and the management of large quantity of SGML electronic documents. This paper is our belief that the national information infrastructure for university digital libraries are mandatory for an open information society.

The purpose of this study was to find out how the leadership of superiors at the university library - transformational and transactional leadership - could affect the job satisfaction of subordinates. For this purpose, verification was performed with the subject of 155 librarians working at 11 university libraries in Busan. The following are the results of this study. 1) There was positive correlation between the leadership type of superiors and the job satisfaction of subordinates. Transformational leadership turned out to have higher correlation with job satisfaction than transactional leadership. 2) Intellectual stimulation·inspiration affects promotion practices and supervision style. 3) When analyzing the controlling effect of individual characteristics, only gender and marital status are used as a controlling variables between transformational leadership and job satisfaction.

To improve the dCollection system, it is suggested that the usability tests of the dCollection system are needed to find out whether submitters or IR managers are satisfied with the system or not. For the usability evaluations, we used sixty participants, thirty for its management module and thirty for its submit and retrieval modules and for its test constructed the five evaluation indicators including architectural/visual clarity and effectiveness. Based on the results of the usability tests, some improvements in terms of supportiveness, usefulness and visual clarity were suggested.

This study looks at the reading related qualifications that examine the issues into the curriculum of reading-related qualifications specifically. The results of analysis, 278 reading related qualifications are both operated by the private non-accredited. And reading related qualifications system was required the effort and systematic enhancement of the quality management system of education information. On the basis of the survey, It is proposed operational plans for the quality of reading-related qualifications by cooperation of the private and government that are utilized as a reference in the promotion policy.

The goal of this study is to suggest the models for establishing the collaborative repository for public libraries in Korea. For this purpose, author analyzed the collection space shortage of public libraries, priority of establishment of collaborative repositories by province, key functions and practices to accomplish, and a desirable location. And based on these analysis results, author proposed the basic principles and architectural scales of the collaborative repositories, transfer criteria and ownership of public library' collection, desirable management and operation unit of the collaborative repository. Therefore, the government and all of metropolitan must establish the collaborative repositories as soon as possible.

The evolution of librarian job is influenced by the change of paradigm in library. in theses days, a "good job" is the job that is sensing the changes and applying them in the field. The research is the comparison between '70s and 80s' and 21st century's tasks as a librarian; the law of library, the standards, the influence of department on library and job analysis. The results; the number of technical services have been reduced while professional information services increased as well as media resources. This is because they are trying to satisfy all kind of users. The librarians are acquiring of digital resources, preserving the resources, preparing on-line access, cooperating with other information centers to adjust the great increase of work in digital library.

The planning process of complex projects in tall building is characterized by the cooperation of many involved specialists and by a high degree of information exchange. In order to improve the quality of the structural design of tall buildings, information of different involved partners in the planning process has to be integrated. This paper aims to introduce a concept of the integrated structural design for the tall building using STEP(Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data). In this study, the entities of mass, column shortening, and serviceability evaluation for structural design in tall buildings are proposed.

In the current information environment around the library community, metadata is recognized as a sophisticated and powerful tool that can manage and represent information resources. However, with the discreet use of the concepts of metadata and metadata standard, there is no clear boundary that differentiates metadata standard from simple resource description and traditional bibliographic structure, leading to confusion as to what a metadata and metadata standard is. To consider these issues, this research discussed what metadata and metadata standards are based previous definitions of metadata. Based on those definitions, the fundamental concept of metadata is reestablished to be properly used in the library community.
