Recently, the speed of changes surrounding university libraries requires a hybrid library environment that supports integrated services, combining a virtual space with physical space of traditional libraries. Through changes, university libraries have faced the need to review their missions and visions, laying stress on the core values of university libraries. This study analyzed the central keywords in the contents of mission and vision statements of university libraries in America, England, Canada, and Australia. The research was acquired from mission and vision statements containing core values of developed university libraries. Core values are present in each area such as correction and information resources, services, place, people, environment and infrastructure, community, and parent-university relations. Ultimately, this study tried to provide the directions and the basic materials for the establishment of missions and visions for university libraries in Korea.

Internet is having the most significant impact on library and information services. This article describes introduction of Internet and the value-added information services using Internet resources. As a current awareness service using E-mail, Zephyr of the University of Washington, BM-SwetScan of the Boehringer Mannheim GmbH, and JContent of the KAIST are introduced. As a web-based integrated system, HarperSource, Ei Village, IPL, and ETLARS are introduced. Locating, filtering, evaluating, and organizing Internet information resources remains a main challenge.

Evaluation of an academic library is a key to its success. Library and Information Policy Bureau of the President of the Republic of Korea conducted a trial evaluation on academic libraries with a university evaluation index developed by KERIS in 2005. The committee decided to review its feasibility based on the feedbacks from the academic libraries after the trial. This study aims to address the indexing issues appeared during the trial and suggest a new evaluation index tailored to academic libraries. First, the evaluation field is condensed from 7 to 6 as "financing" and "infrastructure" are integrated into "budget and infrastructure." Secondly, both "user charter" and "planning" are removed from the "library management" field category. and "library self-assessment" is added instead. In "information resource" field, "non-books and etc." is added. Third, evaluation categories for "budget and infrastructure" field are altered to budget-related items and library equipment. Forth, "collection turnover rate" category is incorporated into "collection usage" in "information usage" field, and "library use rate" in "information service" field is moved to "information resource" field and renamed as "use rate."

The purpose of this study is to find the cause and solution of the situation where library LOD does not spread after the introduction of library LOD. Research methods include literature research, case studies, and expert interviews. The improvement plan presented in this study is that first, the library needs to avoid the redundancy of the LOD construction target and build the only and specialized data. Second, libraries need to develop LOD services that reflect user needs and implement convenient LOD interfaces. Third, libraries need to establish identification system of data and build a authority file. Fourth, libraries need to recognize the necessity of data opening and linking to librarians and users, and provide opportunities for education and publicity. Fifth, it is necessary to use LOD for integrated search and to establish an integrated platform for search of library LOD. Sixth, libraries need to strengthen cooperation for LOD issuance and utilization, and form a working-level consultative body. Seventh, the government should pursue strong policies with a continuous commitment to LOD promotion and need to continue to provide budget support.

This study aims to apply the concept of Internet of things to library and interpret a library as ecological space where human, thing and data are communicating and organically networking through internet. First, we defined various things existing in physical spaces of the real world and internet spaces as elements of Internet of Things. Then we proposed to apply a semantic web platform to integrate different meta-data formats and communication protocols from things. Finally, we provide the model of Internet of Things based on Semantic web to utilize a variety of information from things for library management and user service.

In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.

This study analyzed the functions, organizational structure and activities of NCLIS, LIC and Resource in USA and UK. In result, NCLIS as an independent agency within executive branch performs the powerful advisory function to U.S. Congress and government agencies and supports to improve the library and information services with IMLS conducting the government policies. LIC and Resource in UK renders advisory function to improve library and information services with government fund although they are only committee under the Department for Culture , Media and Sports.

공개자원운동의 일환으로 등장한 OER, OCW 컨텐츠를 정보자원으로서 관리해야 할 필요성이 커지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 대학도서관 OER 현황분석을 하고자 한다. 이를 위해 성균관대학교, 숙명여자대학교, 부산대학교를 분석대상으로 선정하였으며, 컨텐츠 및 컨텐츠 품질, 홍보, 플랫폼 세 항목을 기준으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, OER을 정보자원으로서 체계적으로 수집 관리해야 할 대상으로 보고 있지 않았다. 둘째, OER 서비스 활성화를 위해 적극적으로 홍보가 이루어지지 않고 있었다. 셋째, 이용자들이 참여할 수 있는 OER 플랫폼은 구축되어 있으나 이용자들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 수준이라 보기 어려웠다. 이에 대한 해결 방안을 모색하여 대학도서관이 교내정보자원의 통합관리기관으로서 역할제고 방안에 대해 고찰하는 것에 의의가 있다.

In this study, we propose an approach of building a portal site that can offer integrated services for textbook through special libraries For this purpose, we analyzed previous related studies and investigated textbook portal construction sites domestically and abroad. Based on this research, we developed survey questions and conducted a survey targeting users of textbook libraries. As a result, the following projects are required for creating a textbook library: a comprehensive list of textbooks and other content construction, digitization projects of library holdings, collection and delivery of various textbook-related reference books, building a textbook database by topic, collecting and providing textbook-related research publications, a cooperation network with textbook-related organizations, and active promotion of portal sites.

With frequent use of the internet these days, academic libraries are offering the "Document Delivery Service" through the Internet in our country. The current "Document Delivery Service" utilized over the Internet was researched according to the method used by each library to connect to the internet. and this research, based on each library's current service conditions, service data types, document format of service data, whether the libraries used OPAC for document service or not, and user types. As a result of the research, it was discovered that most of the "Document Delivery Service" is served by website, mainly PDF format, use another interface differs from OPAC, and the personal users in our academic libraries.ers in our academic libraries.
