A Study on the Application of Latent Growth Model for Measuring the Outcomes of Library (도서관 성과 측정을 위한 잠재성장모형 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss the application of the Latent Growth Model to measure the outcomes of public library. For outcome measurements, library circulation data were collected to identify longitudinal changes of library users' reading habit. The latent growth model was applied to statistically test the changes over time. The circulation data of 95,962 users registered in some public libraries in Seoul, ranged between 2010 and 2015, were analyzed using unconditional model, conditional model, and growth mixture model which all are called the latent growth model. The results show that the intercept of the model is 4.19 and the slop is 0.24 in the linear growth model. The gender difference in two latent variables including intercept and slop was a shade difference. The result from the growth mixture model analysis, additionally indicates that the number of books checked out by children under age 10 is rapidly increased. The application of the latent growth model in library fields is expected to widely spread out for the longitudinal data analysis.

  • Big data refers to dataset whose size is beyond the ability of typical database software tools to capture, store, manage, and analyze. And now it is considered to create the new opportunity in every industry. The purpose of this study is to develop of big data services in public library for improved library services. To this end, analysed the type of library big data and needs of stockholders through the various methods such as deep interview, focus group interview, questionnaire. At first step, we defined the 16 big data service models from interview with librarians, and LIS professions. Second step, it was considered necessity, timeliness, possibility of development. We developed the final two services called on 'Decision Support Services for Public Librarians' and 'Book Recommendation Services for Users.'

  • 본 연구는 수행공학 모형을 적용하여 공공도서관의 서비스의 주요 문제점과 원인을 탐색하고 적절한 해결방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 A공공도서관 서비스를 대상으로 ISPI(International Society for Performance Improvement)수행공학 모형을 적용하여 이 모형절차에 따라 문제점분석, 원인분석, 해결책 선정을 순서에 따라 시행하였다. 문제점에 대한 원인은 Gilbert의 BEM 모형의 틀을 사용하여 환경적인 요소와 개인적인 요소로 나누어 분석하였다. 이렇게 발견된 원인들 중 선택된 원인에 대하여 해결책을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 수행공학 모형의 도서관 서비스 적용을 통해 향후 도서관 관련의 다양한 영역에서의 문제점 해결책을 강구하는데 아이디어를 제공하고자 한다.

  • 새로운 정보환경과 매체의 발전으로 인하여 오늘날 대학도서관은 인쇄자료와 전자자료, 웹 자원이 공존하여 수집, 가공, 유통되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 도서관 내·외적인 정보환경과 운영환경의 변화 요인을 수용하여 새로운 평가모형을 개발하고자 전통적인 도서관의 기능을 기반으로 하여 디지털 형태 정보의 수집, 가공, 유통을 통합한 하이브리드(Hybrid)형태의 디지털도서관 평가모형을 제안하고자 한다.

  • It's been taken a profound interest in the user eduction of the children's libraries, as they have taken the conveniences, resources, children's librarians after 2000. The purpose of this study is to consider whether the children's library can use the story-telling in library use education, to develop the instructional model based on the story-telling method for children, users in children's libraries. After all, it's reviewed to understand the concept and principle of story-telling method, to consider whether the method can be adopted to the user education in children's libraries, and to propose the instructional model based on the story-telling. The result of this study will give the good examples for the user education, especially the planning of user education in children's libraries and public libraries in Korea.

The Design of a Place Branding Model for Public Libraries and Its Application to Creating a Public Library Brand Image (공공도서관을 위한 장소브랜딩모형의 설계와 브랜드이미지의 창조)

  • In this study, a place branding model for public library was designed to revitalize public libraries' user visits by modifying and extending the Cai(2002)'s Place Branding Model. By applying this model, an example of creating a brand image of a public library was presented, and it was verified that this example is suitable as a brand image. To this end, literature research on the place branding models and brand marketing was conducted, and the types and contents of marketing suitable for the place branding model of public library were founded. And to verify that the example of the public library's brand image created by applying this model is suitable as a brand image, A survey of user perception was conducted on the brand image and brand identity of the applied library for this model, and the results of the survey were used to analyze the correlation and simple regression between these two variables. In this way, this study is meaningful in increasing the realization and real potential of place branding for promoting public libraries' user visits through the design and application of a conceptual model that embodies the place branding of public library.

  • LAI(Library Assited Instruction) distinguished from classroom instruction viewpoint of use of school libraries's material and collaborative with teacher librarian. Thus LAI must be emphasized student's information activities and teacher librarian's support activities. This study is supposed to LAI model (information presentation-guide type, information search-organization type. information analysis Interpretation type, information synthesis-representation type, information query-projects type, information query-discussion type) based on student's information activities. The student's information activities were derived from the model of information use process. The Model of proposed LAI is constructed the role of classroom teacher, teacher librarian, student and the process of LAI process.

  • The purpose of this paper based on the preliminary research is to dove)or the standard job models for children's service of public and children libraries in Korea. To do so, the author surveyed and analysed the perception of library staff of current jobs for children's service using the online questionnaire. And author proposed the standard models(importance difficulty, professionalism, and performance requirements) of library jobs for strengthening children's services. In addition, the this study suggested a plans to enhance professionalism of children's librarian and to introduce its qualification system.

  • This study was to build a collaborative digital library model between KSTI and JST for sharing science and technology information created in Korea and Japan. For this study, digital library framework, it's main concepts and widely-used digital library technologies were investigated. And also, best practices of collaborative digital library were surveyed to characterize collaborative digital library trends. Collaborative Sci-Tech digital library model proposed in this study can be applied in real environment and expanded into other institutions and/or subject areas.

The ASK_a Service Model for Public Library in Korea (우리나라 공공도서관의 ASK_a 서비스 모형 개발)

  • The new service of Korean public library, ASK_a service model suggests a new management practice in collaborative digital reference services. The model has three functions: input transaction, process transaction, and output transaction. The best form for input is the web form. The best form for process is a model with a hybrid type of public libraries(hierarchical and lateral type). The output suggests the archiving policy for gathering the query-answer data. The core of this model is providing an advanced information service to its users through cooperation with public libraries and external manpower.
