In the knowledge society the main resource is knowledge, and the role of library to manage knowledge and information is very important. Therefore it is necessary to knowledge and information management that provides on demand service to user. The purpose of this research is to design model for web-based help-desk knowledge management system. This study used Qualitative methods as interviews and surveys through BBS and e-mail on information service in the university libraries. Here the investigated component factors are followings Q/A service user's education service to use the library, user's online reference service, e-mail service, FAQ service electronic service(BBS), lecture and research service for faculty, my library, SDI service, and open data service. The purpose of this study was to clarify similarity and identity between university library and archives through comparison of their information materials, functions and organizations. As a results, the archives are so much similar to library in the records, functions. It means what they can use the library resources together. The archives organizations mainly belongs to museum and rarely to libraries and administration organizations.

This study aims to examine and analyze the operations and activities of Friends of Libraries groups in foreign countries. Friends of Libraries are groups of people who are voluntarily associated in order to assist libraries in their work. They have been involved with various libraries in many countries for almost a century. They support libraries by raising funds, working as volunteers, performing P.R. activities, operating political campaigns and being involved in the community. Nowadays. Friends groups are considered more important than at any time in their history because they provide such diverse support. Thus, new groups are being established in many countries. This study suggests that the establishment of Friends groups could improve library operations and services in Korea.

This study was performed in order to to suggest the library service direction and program provision method for single-person households in the Seoul Public Library. by analyzing the current status of the operation of public services and library services for domestic and foreign single-person households and the results of the survey on perception of library users and experts. As a result, the suggested library service direction for single-person households was proposed to secure and provide information resources closely related to the lives of single-person households, and establish a support center in charge of services to utilize human resources efficiently with local libraries, and create a user-centered facility infrastructure including single-person households away from the material-oriented library, provide regional specifications and customised services based on the characteristics and distribution of single-person households. In addition, the reading culture program for single-person households believes that social activities support for vulnerable single-person households, social ties, care, volunteer work, leisure and cultural activities are more necessary than anything else, and proposed specialized library services and programs for young, middle-aged, and female single-person households.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the present stage of children's services of public library in Korea. Data were collected from 171 public libraries and analysed according to five aspects of library services; physical aspect, collection, human resources, user services, and management and program. The results shows that budget, human resources for children's services should be increased and every local library authority should be on an active and effective way to services.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of the operation of small libraries in Seoul and to assess the perception of their importance and satisfaction. For this purpose, 861 small libraries in Seoul were surveyed on the overall operational satisfaction, operational improvement, and the importance of operation. As a result, it was discovered that there is a demand for increased operational support for small libraries, enhanced publicity, improved education and treatment of volunteers, improved quality of the book collection, and continuously improved space and facilities. Furthermore, the public and private libraries should be classified to reflect operational characteristics of the operating entity, rather than implementing the uniform budget support and guidance management.

The Purpose of the study is to analyze present state of the volunteers in cultural program activities in Korean libraries and for reinforcing library volunteer activity. 2,349 volunteers were asked questionaires for the purpose looking into present state. The factors were number of regional participants, libraries which have partaken, number of participants per program, and participating programs. The programs that volunteers have partaken, its kind, relative importance of the partaken program, "non-reading" program's contents, preferable program by each targeted users, and the most participated program were analyzed.

Recently, public libraries have increased in quantity, while various problems have arisen regarding the operation of public libraries, such as lack of librarian manpower and facilities. Additionally, an increase in the number of public libraries does not correlate to an increase in the utilization of public libraries, and thus developing various services is needed to maintain the continued use of public libraries. This study examined which types of use motivations affect the intention of knowledge exchange in public libraries when using public libraries based on the self-determination theory. It also looked at how the use motivations and the intention of knowledge exchange vary depending on the frequency of public library use. According to an online survey of 230 users of public libraries, extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation, autonomy, competence, and relatedness as independent variables had a positive impact on the level of knowledge exchange. In addition, the higher the frequency of public library use, the higher the needs for autonomy and relatedness were. Based on the results, it was suggested that the knowledge exchange needs to be established as a new service of public libraries by offsetting extrinsic motivation that emerged from by negative influences and promoting intrinsic motivation, autonomy and competence.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the necessity of secure budget in public libraries with regard to promoting library usage. It is namely to attempt to find out if there really is a connection between library funding and library usage. For this purpose, the relevant data of all the 31 public libraries in Busan were collected from the 2013 National library Statistics of Korea. To determine the connection between library funding and usage, two variables were selected, 'TFI (Total Funding Indicator) = $\sqrt{personnelcosts{\times}materialcosts}$' for independent variable and 'LU (Library Usage) = (visits per year) + (loans per year)/number of inhabitants' for dependent variable. The results showed that there is a clear relationship between TFI and LU and If more cost is spent on personal resources and material resources, the total usage of the public library also increase. The findings are limited due to the fact that the observation was focusing on public libraries in one community and the period of observation was one year in 2013.

This study attempt to suggest a policy for the effect of using in the public libraries by the verification that are different between groups by their using patterns and types of book collections. by using patterns and system of desired-book for user. by using patterns and system of desired-book for user. The questionnaire is distributed to the delivery lending library's user and librarian in public libraries. The summary of results are as follows 1 The Circulation period of public library is one month per every delivery lending library. 2. The Circulation volume of public library is '100-200' books per every times. 3. There are significant differences by their using patterns and types of book collections. 4. There are significant differences by their using patterns and system of desired-book for user. 5. There are significant differences by their using patterns and placement of book collections. Their results show that library is most effective place of book collection services. 6. Circulation services must carry out only in the sphere of jurisdiction 7. A Lost books must set up treatment basis of natural reduction ratio 8. The Interference factors of delivery lending library are lacks of human power, lost books and negative attitute of user in order 9. The Effects of using a delivery lending library are a positive attitute and specialty of top management, the optimum of budget and the effect of deposit system 10. Natural reduction ratio of lost books appropriates 0.5-0.6% of total loaned books
