This Study analyzes the present's children library movement. For this, this research deals with 'Library Movement of Miracle' by Citizen Action for Reading Culture. 'Mini-Library Making Movement in Bucheon' and 'Children Mini-Library Movement' by a variety of Nongovernmental organizations. The writer looks into contents, characteristics, meanings and limitations of these Movements. In conclusion, the writer suggests the direction of children library movement in the future.

1992년 영국에서 시작된 영아독서운동인 북스타트(Bookstart)가 2003년 우리나라에 도입되어 몇몇 지자체들을(서울 중랑구, 서울 중구, 인천 연수구, 전남 순천시) 중심으로 시행되고 있는 가운데, 공공도서관을 기반으로 한 북스타트 운동이 울산남부도서관(관장 고경희)에서 전국 최초로 시작되었다. 도서관은 이를 계기로 지난 1월 26일 도서관 1층에 40평 규모의 영ㆍ유아자료실을 새롭게 마련하고, 북스타트 운동의 확산에 힘을 기울이고 있다. 도서관의 북스타트 운동은 지역주민들의 호응을 얻어 관련 예산이 10배 가량 증액되는 성과를 얻었으며, 담당자는 이 운동에 관심을 갖고 사업을 준비하려는 전국 공공도서관의 문의에 답하느라 요즘 정신이 없다고 한다. 적은 예산과 인원으로 현상 유지도 빠듯한 요즈음, 새로운 프로그램 도입을 개척해나가는 도서관 운동가들의 열정에 경의를 표한다.

The purpose of this paper is to review the school library movement of provincial level. For the purpose current school library movement of Gyeonggy-Do and Gyeongsangbuk-Do are analyzed. The writer looks into motivations, strategies, accomplishments, and characteristics of the movements at the viewpoint of comparison.

This study focuses on the collaboration among public libraries and communities through 'One Book, One City' reading campaign. This study introduced the meaning and trend of 'One Book, One City' program on the world. And this study also suggests the ideas for the collaboration among public libraries and communities making use of this reading campaign; activation of reading campaign, building library network, establishing partnership model between private and public sectors.

학교도서관 운동은 이제 일선 교사들에게만 맡겨 둘 단계를 지났다. 중앙이나 지방의 교육행정 당국이 이 운동의 현황을 파악하고 계획적인 지원과 지도에 나설 시점에 이른 것이다. 필자는 여기에 경상남도 교육위원회의 1964학년도 학교도서관 장학지도 계획을 추려서 소개하기로 한다. 학교도서관 운동의 현단계에 있어서 아주 의미 없는 일은 아닐 것으로 안다.

이번 도서관문화 6월호에서는 최근 ‘기억투쟁과 문화운동의 전개’라는 책을 공동 집필하여 주목받았던 서울대학교 사회학과 정근식 교수를 만나, 사회적 기억의 중요성과 기억 보존을 위한 투쟁과정에서 전개되는 문화운동과 관련한 도서관의 역할 등을 내용으로 대화를 나누었다.

This paper investigates the Bunko, the center of Japanese children's reading movement, and its impact on the development of Japanese school library. Paper is consisted by two parts , one subject is the programs and the law made by government which is related to either the school library or children's reading, the other is Bunko movements initiated by citizen mostly mothers who wish to improve their children's reading environment. The Bunko movements started in 1960's and motivate the establishment of public libraries in 1970's, and it has triggered activating the school library after early 1990's. By analyzing the relationships of the two subjects it can be concluded that they are tightly connected each other by emphasizing the function of school library not as a teaching-learning center but as a reading facility. It makes difficult for the Japanese school library to establish the most important function of supporting curriculum.

작은 도서관은 정책이 아닌 시민들의 자발성을 바탕으로 마을마다 부족한 도서관의 인프라를 구축하고자 시작된 풀뿌리 시민운동이자 대안 공동체 운동이다. 1960년대 마을문고 운동으로 시작된 작은 도서관은 현재의 21세기 지식기반사회에 이르기까지 많은 수가 마을 중심에서 지역주민들에 의하여 설립, 운영되고 있으며, 독서실 이미지의 도서관을 벗어나서 진정한 의미의 도서관을 찾아가고 있다. 본 연구에서는 작은 도서관의 개념과 전국의 사례에 비추어 1998년대 후반부터 시작된 대전의 작은 도서관 운동의 현 단계와 발전 방안을 모색해보고자 한다.

이 대담 시리즈는 학교도서관에 대한 도서관계 안팎의 관심을 높이고 현단계 학교도서관 운동이 나아갈 길을 모색해보려는 취지에서 시도된 것이다. 과거 학교도서관 운동을 주도하였거나 오랫동안 학교도서관 현장을 지켜온 인물들을 찾아 그들의 경험과 의식속에 쌓여 있는 역사를 끌어내어 오늘을 비추어 보고 내일을 전망하는 계기로 삼을 것이다. 첫번째 대담에서 만난 사람은 1960년대 학교도서관 운동을 주도한 김두홍 선생이다. 선생은 경남고등학교 사서교사(1956-1962), 경상남도 교육연구소 연구사(1962-1964), 경상남도 교육위원회 장학사(1963-1966)로 활동하면서 학교도서관 운동을 주도하였으며, 한국도서관협회 기획부장과 총무부장(1966-1968), 한국과학기술정보센타 소장(1968-1980), 신라대(구 부산여대) 문헌정보학과 교수(1980-1993) 등을 거치면서 관계와 학계에서 두루 활동하셨다. 대담 일시 : 1998년 2월 19일 오후 2시-4시 대담 장소 : 김두홍 선생 자택(부산시 금정구 남산동)
