The purpose of this study is to analyze academic research trends of the library management in Korea and to suggest its outcomes and limitations. For this purpose, the study analyzed a total of 2,567 papers from 2001 to 2010 at the five authorized journals of the National Research Foundation of Korea. As a result, library management papers were occupied by about 21.8%(560 papers) of the total paper. The sub categories showed a high performance in library management research were general management, policy and system, human resource management, measurement and evaluation. However, the organization and budget management, building and facility, marketing and PR were very weak in the research performance.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has been promoting strengthening energy efficiency of old buildings through public green building remodeling projects since 2020. Green remodeling includes both essential and optional construction of passive and active elements. However, there is a lack of integrated designs of passive and active systems and no standards for prioritizing these systems according to the building's age. Therefore, this study examined six public libraries in central region 2 that were expected to be high energy consuming. Remodeling strategy priorities were selected based on potential energy reduction. The libraries were divided into three groups based on their year of construction, completed in the 1980s (Model 1), 1990s (Model 2), and 2000s (Model 3). ECO2-OD, based on ISO 13790 and DINV 18599, was used as the primary energy consumption analysis tool. Simulation results indicated Model 1 and Model 2 benefited most from higher insulation and replacement of mechanical equipment. Model 3 benefited most from upgrading to more energy efficient windows.

The purpose of this study is to suggest some interior design directions for university library in the circumstances of rapid change of user's demand for the library. In order to extract some ideas about designing the library, I analyzed the libraries of UC Berkeley which has tried to transform the existing condition of the building for satisfying user's new needs. Informations of compositions, layouts of furnitures and book shelves, environmental conditions of 25 branch libraries of UC Berkeley, and spatial behavior patterns in libraries were surveyed and analyzed to get insights to design a new model of library buildings. The interesting phenomena got from the survey is that most of the library users used their own laptop computer in the library regardless of environmental conditions of the library or book types. In conclusion, as the library is changing to the place of studying, not of reading books, four design directions for the library are suggested in this research as like these; 1) Establishing a Regulation Free Environment for a user, 2) Enhancing the Aura of Books as an Interior Design Element, 3) Supplying Personalized Spatial Characters, and 4) Providing an Impactful Space.

This study aims to suggest the ways to apply Information Commons to local university libraries, which face various changes in users and information environment, for using the libraries' space more effectively and for providing users with more satisfying services. Information Commons, which is a concept having been gradually spreading mainly in the U.S. from the early 1990's, is a service place where users can work out anything related to their studies or various lecture-related jobs because they are provided with various information and electronic resources in that one spot. Researches show that physical and human resources should be prepared before executing Information Commons to minimize the problems and to maximize the effectiveness from applying it. Physical resources are such as PC rooms, multimedia rooms, education rooms, one person or group study rooms, and cafe or lounge. Human resources are the librarians who can do reference services including giving the lectures on using library information resources and who can solve the operating problems related to IT.

This paper aims to describe the measurement and improvement of academic library service quality by ISA (Importance-Satisfaction Analysis). This research established service quality model on based LibQUAL+(R). It consisted of 18 items that formed three dimensions, affect of service quality, information control quality, and library as place quality. To execute this research, the service quality according the users' importance and satisfaction of library service is measured through Gaps model and ISA. The data for this case study was collected through the survey conducted the users of the H University library. By applying SPSS 17.0 and Excel 2007, the final 113 surveys were used for analysis.

According to the changing of information environment and user's need, discussion of changing role is increasing gradually in the library, in consequence, interests about the concept of Information Commons, which are integrated IT, education, learning, and cultural functions, are becoming larger. However, in order to adopt the Information Commons in the University library, the model about the consideration and application of basic element is essential. So that, the purpose of this study is to suggest the ways which are adopting the elements and process of the applying Information Commons. In addition, based on Information Commons of Arizona university Library & Indiana University Library which is well organized with model, researcher tried to attempt the virtual renovation to the 'S 'University library'. Through presenting the applicable model of Information Commons, it aims to provide the example of discussion with actively about Information Commons.

The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze which kind of factors have an effect on the number of users in the public libraries. For this, this study analyzed various factors, such as personnel, collection, budget, event, influenced on the number of their users of 55 public libraries in Seoul. The results of this study indicated that the number of users in the public libraries is influenced by the number of their seat, librarian, the building size and the number of librarian. Besides, the result of multiple regression analysis to verify these regression models was revealed that the factor influenced on the number of users of public libraries is only the number of seat. The result of this study is expected to practically use in establishing the plan to increase the number of their users in public libraries.

This study attempts to identify the influence factors on the numbers of visitors and reference room users of public libraries through log-log multiple regression models, using the Korean National Libraries Statistical Data 2018. The fact found is summarized as follows; Even though books collection and seating capacities might be the most important factors in attraction of visitors and reference room users to public libraries in the past when the storage and propagation of knowledge and information was the top function of public libraries, very various and compound factors such as cultural or lifetime education programs, library operation, and user activities have an effect on inducing people to visit and use public libraries at present. This means that these days, public libraries are being transformed into some kinds of comprehensive cultural center where software elements such as cultural programs, user education, events, budget, membership, opening days, building style and age, and group activities rather than hardware elements such as books, literature material, and facilities constitute their essential parts in connection with visitor and user induction.

Although university libraries run by the subject-oriented serviec systems are increasing more and more, many problems are emerging as a result of tying out the subject classification of the sources without an enough advance knowledge, consideration of reality, and the study about effective management of subject-oriented sum system. Through the research of 37 university libraries run by the system of subject-oriented service, it was proved that for the effective subject-oriented service system, the reasonable classification of the subjects, considering the form and structure of the building, the number of users on each subject and the organization of the collection, and the subject librarians, who would take charge of subject-oriented service systems are indispensable. Therefore, the subject-oriented service system to be rooted strongly, the role model of the subject-oriented service system adequate to the reality of Korean university libraries should be developed, and the efforts of the people on the spot such as acquiring enough supports and training of the subject librarians should be arranged.
