  • This study aimed to investigate the period-specific changes (Library 1.0, Library 2.0, Library 3.0 Period) of job factors and performance features in academic libraries. For this, the study categorized an academic library's job into five dimensions: 1) library administration 2) collection development and management 3) information organization 4) information services and 5) information system development and management, After the categorized library's job was defined in detail, the Delphi survey was conducted twice on librarians and professors of library and information science. The result showed that there were many changes in job factors and performance features in academic libraries towards the period of library 2.0 characterized by user participation, sharing and openness and into library 3.0 characterized by social network and semantic web. Library 3.0 is likely to bring about a significant change in user services with ever changing technological advances stemming from library 2.0, such as mobile services, RFID and NFC etc. The finding of the study suggest that library systems need to be continually upgraded in the period of library 3.0.

The interview utilized open ended questions in the order of starting, introduction, main, and ending questions. Analyses of the interviews were based on methods presented by Morgan and Scannell(1998). Results of the study show that experiences through therapy sessions consisted of 7 different themes, 26 specific categories, and 84 unique concepts. The purpose of the study was to observe the problems bibliotherapist have or may encounter in library settings, provide feedback to make each session better, and as a result, help both the library and bibliotherapist during the bibliotherapy process.

  • This study attempts to identify a profile of the university library's overall organizational culture and to analyze the difference of the organizational culture according to library's characteristics(size, location, control and unit). A questionnaire that is based on the competing values framework is used to survey staff in university library. In conclusion, the highest score is in the internal process quadrant(39.92), toward consolidation and continuity, but emphasizing control aimed at stability. And the weakest in the overall culture profile is the open systems quadrant(13.27) which may indicate that external support and resource acquisition are not strong measures of effectiveness to the staff. Research on university library organizational culture using both qualitative and quantitative method needs to be further considered. Furthermore, the strategy in library organizational culture for library administrator to manage human resources efficiently needs to be developed.

  • This study focused on the domestic hospital libraries, the policies and support projects for them, and the current operation status of them. To this end, a list of hospital libraries was established and the operation status was investigated by conducting telephone interviews with 73 libraries collected. As a result, it was found that hospital libraries were established through support projects of other institutions (foundations, enterprises, etc.) rather than by the parent institutions, most of which were barely maintained except for certain actively operated ones. In terms of space, hospital libraries equipped with independent space were mostly operated on a small scale, and bookshelves were deployed in space for other purposes such as lounge and hallway. In terms of operation, a dedicated department or personnel for the library operation hardly existed, and more than half of them did not purchase additional books, simply maintaining the donated books at the time of the establishment. It was also shown that for services and programs, only booklending services are provided, except for a few libraries. Therefore, national policies and support will be needed to revitalize hospital libraries in the future, and the government needs to seek ways to continuously operate them through links with local representative libraries and public libraries.

However, some of the problems of KOLAS could be resolved, but not all of them. Thus, this study proposes the developmental plan of the KOLAS for future. The National Library of Korea should open the KOLAS to open source software for public, so that libraries and vendors may develop new ILS based upon the KOLAS.
