This study presented the route location method by applying AHP and evaluating quantitatively. This study developed the program that can be easily applied to this kind of road design, and built the decision support system fur route location. The study results are summarized as follows : We could quantitatively evaluate the appropriateness of exiting routes by applying the AHP based on GIS. If we apply this to the roads that will be newly constructed, we can make the objective and reliable route location when making road plans and basic designs. We improved the technique of route location by applying the decision support system with third-dimensional data, which considers even the vertical alignment plan, to the existing decision support system with second-dimensional data. had, since we call set those data such as vertical slope, earth-volume, structure size, location and construction cost to independent variables, we can make road designs more scientifically and reasonably.

Attempts to interpret human perspectives using computer vision have been developed in various fields. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating the walking environment through semantic segmentation results of images from road images. First, the Kakao Map API was used to collect road images, and four-way images were collected from about 50,000 points in JeonJu. 20% of the collected images build datasets through crowdsourcing-based paired comparisons, and train various regression models using paired comparison data. In order to derive the walkability score of the image data, the ranking score is calculated using the Trueskill algorithm, which is a ranking algorithm, and the walkability and analysis using various regression models are performed using the constructed data. Through this study, it is shown that the walkability of Jeonju can be evaluated and scores can be derived through the correlation between pixel distribution classification information rather than human vision.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the seismic behavior of circular reinforced concrete bridge piers with confinement steel and to provide the data for developing improved seismic design criteria. Fourteen circular reinforced concrete bridge piers were tested under a constant axial load and a cyclically reversed horizontal load. The accuracy and objectivity of the assessment process may be enhanced by the use of sophisticated nonlinear finite element analysis program. A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. In the companion paper, the proposed numerical method for the seismic performance assessment of circular reinforced concrete bridge piers with confinement steel is verified by comparison with experimental results.

Dynamic behaviors of a bridge system with several simple spans are evaluated to examine the effects of nonlinear abutment motions upon the seismic responses of the bridge. The idealized mechanical model for the whole bridge system is developed by adopting the multi-degree-of-freedom system, which can consider various influential components. To compare the results, both linear and nonlinear abutment-backfill models are prepared. The linear system has the constant abutment stiffness, and the nonlinear system has the nonlinear stiffness considering the abutment stiffness degradation due to the abutment-soil interaction. From simulation results, the nonlinear abutment motion is found to have an important influence upon the global bridge motions. Maximum relative distances between adjacent vibration units are found to be larger than those found from the linear system. In particular, maximum relative distances at the location with the highest possibility of unseating failure are increased up to about 30% in the nonlinear system. The effects of nonlinear behavior of an abutment on the bridge seismic behaviors are also increased as the number of span increase. Therefore, it can be concluded that the abutment-soil interaction should be considered in the seismic analysis of the bridge system.

Recently, as high resolution satellites data have been serviced, frequent DSM (Digital Surface Model) generation over urban areas has been possible. In addition, it is possible to detect changes using a high-resolution DSM at building level such that various methods of building change detection using DSM have been studied. In order to detect building changes using DSM, we need to generate a DSM using a stereo satellite image. The change detection method using D-DSM (Differential DSM) uses the elevation difference between two DSMs of different dates. The D-DSM method has difficulty in applying a precise vertical threshold, because between the two DSMs may have elevation errors. In this study, we focus on the urban structure change detection using D-nDSM (Differential nDSM) based on nDSM (Normalized DSM) that expresses only the height of the structures or buildings without terrain elevation. In addition, we attempted to reduce noise using a morphological filtering. Also, in order to improve the roadside buildings extraction precision, we exploited the urban road network extraction from nDSM. Experiments were conducted for high-resolution stereo satellite images of two periods. The experimental results were compared for D-DSM, D-nDSM, and D-nDSM with road extraction methods. The D-DSM method showed the accuracy of about 30% to 55% depending on the vertical threshold and the D-nDSM approaches achieved 59% and 77.9% without and with the morphological filtering, respectively. Finally, the D-nDSM with the road extraction method showed 87.2% of change detection accuracy.
The governmental investment to SOC facilities currently has increasedthe construction of new roads and the consistent extension of already-existing roads or the line-shape revision of those roads. As a result, the road cut slopes have been increasingrapidly. Unfortunately, human-life damages and property damages frequently occur due to the rockfall and the landslide every year. To reduce those damages, many studies have been performed. The present regulation regarding rockfall protection facilities follows the "Guide for Installation and Management of Road Safety Facilities" issued by MLTM (the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs) that indicates the standard size of facilities and energy absorbing efficiencies. Most domestic road slopes use standardized rockfall protection facilities based on the regulation. However, there have been doubted about the effectiveness of rockfall protection facilities and the damages caused by rockfalls havebeen increasedevery year. Thus, it seems that relevant studies are necessary on the rockfall protection net being capable of supporting rockfall energies. Accordingly, this study reviews previous literature to investigate the function and the feature of rockfall protection nets and analyzetheir limitations by each type. After that, by using the pullout test device for a rockfall protection net, an experiment on the PVC coating net and the expanded metal is performed under the exact same condition. Finally, the features of the Expended metal is explained with the comparison analysises of load-variation and the confirmation of damaged forms. As a result, there have been founded the problemsof net breaking down and not being able to support due to PVC coating net's material property of disintegration. On the other hand, the Expanded Metal might be expected as a substituteof rockfall protection net according to its capability of support and integration.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of adjacentroads on the concentration of negative air ions in urban neighborhood park. The measured factors were negative air ion concentration, positive airion concentration, airtemperature, relative humidity, wind speed, green formation volume factor (GVZ) and distance from highway and general road. The mean negative air ion concentration was $206ea/cm^3$ and the positive air ion concentration was $416ea/cm^3$ in the influence zone of roads. On the other hand, the mean negative air ion was $339ea/cm^3$ and the positive air ion was $229ea/cm^3$ in the unaffected zone of roads, which are inner areas of the park. The difference of the negative air ion concentration according to the influence of the road was statistically significant. The negative air ion concentration model was presented by integrating the correlation analysis with the influence factors, and the explanatory power of the model was increased by adding the influence factor of the road.
The TPR-tree is the time-parameterized indexing scheme that supports the querying of the current and projected future positions of such moving objects by representing the locations of the objects with their coordinates and velocity vectors. If this index is, however, used in environments that directions and velocities of moving objects, such as vehicles, are very often changed, it increases the communication cost between the server and moving objects because moving objects report their position to the server frequently when the direction and the velocity exceed a threshold value. To preserve the communication cost regularly, there can be used a manner that moving objects report their position to the server periodically. However, the periodical position report also has a problem that lineal time functions of the TPR-tree do not guarantee the accuracy of the object's positions if moving objects change their direction and velocity between position reports. To solve this problem, we propose the query processing scheme and the data structure using road networks for predicting uncertainty positions of moving objects, which is reported to the server periodically. To reduce an uncertainty of the query region, the proposed scheme restricts moving directions of the object to directions of road network's segments. To remove an uncertainty of changing the velocity of objects, it puts a maximum speed of road network segments. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the accuracy for predicting positions of moving objects than other schemes based on the TPR-tree.
Highway design speed is a very important design element which determines highway design level. When determining highway design speed, one would estimate it utilizing the most likelihood of design speed and vehicle operating speed relationship. Existing operating speed prediction models only include highway geometric characteristics and their impacts on speed, which usually can not consider the impact of highway design speed on surrounding roadway environment and land use pattern. If this happens, excessive highway construction cost and huge environmental impact can occur. In this research project, a new vehicle operating speed prediction model was developed which can reflect the effect of surrounding roadway environment into vehicle speed prediction. The followings are the research findings : Firstly, highway terrain types and land use pattern on national roads were classified and integrated into drivers' visual recognition pattern. This was performed using a data management software. Secondly, the developed highway terrain types and land use pattern were related to vehicle speeds and it was found that there were significant statistical differences among vehicle speed for each different terrain and land use pattern. Thirdly. the General Linear Model analysis was employed to analyze the effects of highway geometric features, terrain types, and land use patterns. For two-lane highway and four-lane highway tested in this research project, it was found that R squares were 0.67 and 0.85, respectively. Additionally an optimal highway design speed range table, based on this research project. was proposed for practical use. This table can be reliably used on South Korean national road design, but discretion is required for applying this table to other types of highways including provincial roads and municipal roads.
