The pan-european paging system European Radio MEssage System (ERMES), a new system of digital information communication, has 16 channels with 25KHz channel spacing. The ERMES modulation format is 4-PAM/FM. The ERMES operates in the frequency range 169.4125MHz$\~$169.8125MHz. In this paper, an ERMES receiving system according to the European Telecommunication Standard Institute(ETSI) specfication with a double error correction capability is designed. The ERMES receiver system is designed with the conventional circuit and its error performance for muitiple signal modulated by the 4-PAM/FM method are analyzed. Since amplitude imbalance among the signal components can impair the system performance when several receivers are operated on the same RF channel simultaneously, the optimal parameters are obtained in designing the radio system. Performance of the proposed receiver system is verified via computer simulation for processing procedure.
Since being constructed without any infrastructure-based network, ad hoc network has been received much attention as a key technology for ubiquitous networks. Due to high bit error rate and dynamically changing network topology in ad hoc network, the routing protocol that provides stable multi-hop communication path is the one of the key issues to address. The previously proposed ad hoc routing protocols have their limitations on network overhead, stability, and scalability. In this paper, we consider hybrid wireless network, which can overcome shortcomings of ad hoc network, and propose a novel routing protocol called zone master-based routing protocol. We verify with computer simulations that the proposed routing protocol outperforms other existing routing protocols in the various wireless environments.
Packet forwarding in the Internet routers is to find out the longest prefix that matches the destination address of an input packet and to forward the input packet to the output port designated by the longest matched prefix. The IP address lookup is the key of the packet forwarding, and it is required to have efficient data structures and search algorithms to provide the high-speed lookup performance. In this paper, an efficient IP address lookup algorithm using binary search is investigated. Most of the existing binary search algorithms are not efficient in search performance since they do not provide a balanced search. The proposed binary search algorithm performs perfectly balanced binary search using switch pointers. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using actual backbone routing data and it is shown that the proposed algorithm provides very good search performance without increasing the memory amount storing the forwarding table. The proposed algorithm also provides very good scalability since it can be easily extended for multi-way search and for large forwarding tables
AODV routing protocol is intended for use by mobile' nodes in an ad-hoc network. In AODV nodes create routes on an on-demand basis. As the degree of node mobility becomes high, however, the number of the control packets, RREQ and RREP messages, have increased so rapidly. The unexpected increases in the number of the control packets cause the destination node to decrease the packet receiving rate and also to increase the overall energy consumption of such a network. In this paper, we propose a novel method of adaptively controlling the occurrences of such RREQ messages based on AIAD (additive increase additive decrease) under a consideration of the current network status. We have tested our proposed method with the conventional AODV and the method using timestamp based on the three performance metrics, i.e.. how long does node moves, node velocity, and node density, to compare their performance.
These days, the network convergence for utilizing heterogeneous network on mobile device is being very actively studied. However, understanding characteristics of physical network interfaces and video encoder is needed for using the network convergence technologies efficiently. Thus, this paper proposes an optimized method for streaming video data through different network paths depending on data characteristics and channel condition. Accordingly, unlike the traditional methods, this study divides scalable coded videos by layer importance, the importance of stream information, and the importance in consideration of video decoder's robustness and selectively sends the data via multiple channels. And the experimental results show over 1dB increment in PSNR. The result of this study will provide an optimized video transmission technique in the next generation network convergence environment in which mobile devices have multiple network interfaces.
In the Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF), Next Step in Signaling(NSIS) working group, proposed a mechanism to discover the Crossover Node(CRN), when the route is changed by Mobile Node(MN) handover. The CRN is divergence or convergence node on old and new path for reserving resources. Trough the CRN discovery mechanism, it possible to reduce a signaling delay and avoid the redundant reservation on the common path between old and new path. However, the QoS(Quality of Service) can be guaranteed continuously while the MN is performing handover, it is needed to pre-reserve the resource on the new path before completion of the handover. When the nodes on the new path try to make a pre-resource reservation before the handover, it is difficult to pre-reserve the resource with the existing CRN discovery mechanism. Therefore, we proposed a Passive CRN(PCRN) discovery scheme and pre-resource reservation mechanism. The PCRN which means an initial common point between the current reserved and the new paths, where the handover can take place.
Underwater acoustic sensor networks exhibit characteristics such as high propagation delay and low data rates, which are different from those of terrestrial wireless networks. Therefore, the conventional protocols used in wireless networks can be restrictive and inefficient when applied to underwater acoustic sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a medium access control protocol (MAC) to enhance the energy efficiency and throughput in underwater acoustic sensor networks. The proposed protocol employs a slot-based competition mechanism that reserves a time slot to send a data packet in advance. In the proposed protocol, collision between nodes can occur due to competition to obtain a slot. However, the proposed protocol minimizes the collisions between nodes because the nodes store the reservation information of the neighboring nodes, this reduces unnecessary energy consumption and increases throughput. We perform a simulation to evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol with regard to the energy consumption, the number of collision, channel utilization, throughput and transmission delay. We compare the proposed protocol with the conventional protocol, and the performance results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the conventional protocol.
It is difficult to construct streaming services based on the overlay networks without any loss of scalability. DONet is one of the most representative streaming overlay network protocols without managing any specific structure. Since DONet does not support the nodes on private networks, it can be considered that the performance of the overlay is not the best. Hole Punching is one of the famous techniques participating the nodes on private networks to streaming overlay networks by using a rendezvous server. However, using only a single rendezvous server cannot be suggested in P2P environment, because it can cause problems in terms of scalability and so on. In this paper, we propose DONet-p, an extension of DONet with Distributed Hole Punching techniques. It supports the nodes on private networks without toss of scalability. The experimental results show the better performance and scalability than DONet with a minimum overhead for additional control messages.

An appendix to the MAP 3.0 specification notes that there are primary advantages to use of fiber optics : noise immunity, ability to run in difficult electrical environments, safety and high data rates. All of these may be quite useful in various manufacturing environments. In this paper, we study on construction schmes for a fiber-based 802.4 MAP system including the use of both bus and star topologies. We suggest passive star network and FDDI network for manufacturing environment. And then, we propose the FDDI protocol including the use a dual ring topology running at 100 Mbps to physical and datalink layer of MAT specification and analysis it's protocol and topology for abilities in manufacturing environments, We evaluate about applications service, time-critical processing and topology of two models in manufacturing environment.

This paper proposes a conceptual model for distributed problem solving(DPS), where cooperation and communication among agents are based on virtual shared memory (VSM) In this model, all agents in a DPS system view all the memory in a distributed computer system as a single shared memory in which data, tasks, and results can in a distributed computer system as a single shared memory, in which data, tasks, and results can / be accessed by any of the agents. Several agents cooperatively solve a complex problem, as agents write data, intermediate results of execution, and tasks requested to other agents to VSM and other agents read or execute them. Also, in order to develop DPS systems based on the proposed conceptual model, this paper designs a DPS system development environment(DPS-VSM)using Network Linda. Thi spaper shows utility ofthe proposed model by presenting an example of simulation a VSM-based DPS system, and analyzes the model by comparing the features of DPS- VSM with some other DAI programming shells.
