A Study on Personal Environment Service on the Smartphone (스마트폰 중심의 개인환경서비스 연구)

  • 본 연구는 고가의 인프라 구축이라는 제약 때문에 현재까지 기초적인 수준에 머물러있는 홈 네트워크의 문제점을 극복하고자 제안된 스마트폰 중심의 개인환경서비스(PES : Personal Environment Service)를 연구하였다. 개인환경서비스는 스마트폰과 무선랜, 블루투스 등의 모듈이 탑재된 가전기기와 근거리 무선통신으로 사용자의 선호도를 저장하고 있는 프로파일을 교환하여 가전기기를 자동으로 설정해 주며 프로파일은 서비스 서버에도 전송되어 지속적으로 갱신, 사용자에게 편리한 생활을 제공해 준다. 본 연구는 이러한 스마트폰 중심의 개인환경서비스의 데모 시스템 구조 및 시연 시스템을 구축하였다. 데모시스템의 스마트폰 플랫폼은 구글 사의 안드로이드 2.2 (Froyo) 버전이며, 지능형 가전기기와는 블루투스 통신을 통해 사용자와 서비스 프로파일을 교환한다. 가전기기는 PC, 난방기기, 가스렌지, TV, 라디오 총 5가지를 구현하였는데 실제 가전기기를 구현할 수 없는 한계로 인해 PC를 제외한 가전기기는 블루투스 임베디드 보드에 LCD 디스플레이를 설치한 모의(pseudo) 가전기기로 대체하였다. 스마트폰에 저장되어 있는 사용자 프로파일은 각각의 가전기기별 선호도를 환경설정을 통해 설정할 수 있게 하였고, 선호도를 설정하면 가전기기는 블루투스 통신으로 스마트폰의 사용자 프로파일을 전송받아 자동 설정해 준다. 서비스 서버는 스마트폰과 가전기기의 모든 로그를 전송받아 패턴분석 과정을 거쳐 사용자의 프로파일을 자동으로 설정해주어서 사용자는 개인에게 최적화된 생활환경을 제공받게 된다. 개인환경서비스는 현재 표준화 규격 개발을 위해 제조업체, 이동통신사, 연구소, 대학교 등에서 활발히 연구 중에 있으며, 향후에는 현재까지 개발된 데모 시스템을 토대로 프로토콜을 연구, 수립하여 표준화 규격 개발에 기여할 예정이다.

  • An application's demonstration takes much time because there are a number of interactions involved. When a demonstration is indeed necessary, a separate session of demonstration is commonly carried out besides a presentation. If one can control the application wirelessly using mobile devices, he can present his messages effectively by having a live self-paced demonstration. This method of demonstration has not been possible to implement due to the limitations on performance and/or screen size of feature phones. Lately commercialized smartphones, however, are equipped with better performance and various features so that they can be utilized to implement the new demonstration method. With these smartphones, one can view the application images right on mobile devices to control applications directly. This paper describes the issues of design and implementation of a mobile-based demonstration system, 'Smart Demo'.

  • This essay deals with The Homeric Hymn to Demeter, a aetiological myth about the Eleusis Mysteria. The narrative of the hymn shows how Demeter, the goddess of grain, became the deity of the Mysteria. In the hymn, Demeter is characterized as a mother: She is the mother of Persephone and the motherlike nurse of Demophone. As the mother of Persephone and Demophone, the roles of are nursing and mediating. She care her children and linked the earth and the world below, the heaven of gods and the earth of mortals. Demeter the deity of the Mysteria by a mother. The and the maternity of Demeter is connected with patriarchal politics. Demeter in the hymn is not so much the goddess who derived her character from The Great Mother as the goddess who had been characterized the influence of Greek-patriarchy.

  • 최근 스마트폰에서 Wireless AP를 이용한 대형 쇼핑센터 또는 주차장에서의 실내 측위 어플리케이션들이 등장하고 있다. 하지만 이 어플리케이션들은 측정된 RSSI와 frequency를 이용한 Friis공식으로 거리 환산을 하여 삼각측량법으로 측위를 하게 되는데, 이 방법은 거리를 구함에 있어 오차가 심하여 실제 위치 측정이 Room level정도만 가능하다. 따라서 이에 대한 오차를 줄여 실시간으로 사용자의 위치를 파악하고 주변 정보와 최단거리 등을 알려주는 서비스가 앞으로 상당수의 쇼핑센터 또는 실내 놀이동산 등의 실내 문화공간에서 사용 될 수 있을 것으로 예측되므로 이에 대한 연구 필요성이 강조 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 장애물이 많은 실내에서의 위치기반 서비스에 있어 좀 더 정확한 위치정보 제공에 대한 제안 방안이다. 이를 위하여 여러 실험과 안드로이드 기반의 데모 프로그램 작성을 통하여 연구 개발 하였다.

Boarding and Alighting System of Public Bus for Visually Impaired People (시각장애인을 위한 버스 승·하차 시스템)

  • This paper proposes new measures to aid the uses of pubic transport buses by visually impaired people. Many visually impaired people have difficulty using public buses, but current guidance systems and braille blocks are not useful enough, according to a national survey(2017). In this paper, we develop a system with three functions that help to increase the bus accessibility and mobility of visually impaired people: (1)bus reservation using smart phone applications, (2)arrival notification, and (3)wireless bus stop button using Beacon. Experiments have confirmed that our system supports bus reservation, boarding and getting off the bus efficiently.

Mobile App Analytics using Media Repertoire Approach (미디어 레퍼토리를 이용한 스마트폰 애플리케이션 이용 패턴 유형 분석)

  • Today smart phone is the most common media with a vehicle called 'application'. In order to understand how media users select applications and build their repertoire, this study conducted two-step approach using big data from smart phone log for 4 weeks in November 2019, and finally classified 8 media repertoire groups. Each of the eight media repertoire groups showed differences in time spent of mobile application category compared to other groups, and also showed differences between groups in demographic distribution. In addition to the academic contribution of identifying the mobile application repertoire with large scale behavioral data, this study also has significance in proposing a two-step approach that overcomes 'outlier issue' in behavioral data by extracting prototype vectors using SOM (Sefl-Organized Map) and applying it to k-means clustering for optimization of the classification. The study is also meaningful in that it categorizes customers using e-commerce services, identifies customer structure based on behavioral data, and provides practical guides to e-commerce communities that execute appropriate services or marketing decisions for each customer group.

Applying Social Strategies for Breakdown Situations of Conversational Agents: A Case Study using Forewarning and Apology (대화형 에이전트의 오류 상황에서 사회적 전략 적용: 사전 양해와 사과를 이용한 사례 연구)

  • With the breakthrough of speech recognition technology, conversational agents have become pervasive through smartphones and smart speakers. The recognition accuracy of speech recognition technology has developed to the level of human beings, but it still shows limitations on understanding the underlying meaning or intention of words, or understanding long conversation. Accordingly, the users experience various errors when interacting with the conversational agents, which may negatively affect the user experience. In addition, in the case of smart speakers with a voice as the main interface, the lack of feedback on system and transparency was reported as the main issue when the users using. Therefore, there is a strong need for research on how users can better understand the capability of the conversational agents and mitigate negative emotions in error situations. In this study, we applied social strategies, "forewarning" and "apology", to conversational agent and investigated how these strategies affect users' perceptions of the agent in breakdown situations. For the study, we created a series of demo videos of a user interacting with a conversational agent. After watching the demo videos, the participants were asked to evaluate how they liked and trusted the agent through an online survey. A total of 104 respondents were analyzed and found to be contrary to our expectation based on the literature study. The result showed that forewarning gave a negative impression to the user, especially the reliability of the agent. Also, apology in a breakdown situation did not affect the users' perceptions. In the following in-depth interviews, participants explained that they perceived the smart speaker as a machine rather than a human-like object, and for this reason, the social strategies did not work. These results show that the social strategies should be applied according to the perceptions that user has toward agents.
