Influence of Emotional Labor, Communication Competence and Resilience on Nursing Performance in University Hospital Nurses (대학병원 간호사의 감정노동, 의사소통능력, 회복탄력성이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship amongst emotional labor, communication competence, resilience, and clinical nursing performance of university hospital nurses, and to identify the influencing factors on job performance of clinical nurses who work at two university hospitals. The data was collected using questionnaires from 216 nurses in February 2016. Data was analyzed using one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 22. There were differences in communication competence (F=3.679, p=.003), resilience (F=7.909, p<.003), and nursing performance (F=2.331, p=.044) correlates with the frequency of leisure activity. The significant relationships were found among age (r=.242, p<.001), years of service (r=.278, p<.001), emotional labor (r=.211, p=.002), communication competence (r=.585, p<.001), and resilience (r=.431, p<.001) with nursing performance in university hospital nurses. The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates that communication competence and years of service predict 40.9% (F=75.356, p<.001) in nursing performance of university hospital nurses. The most powerful predictor was communication competence (${\beta}=.581$, p<.001), followed by years of service (${\beta}=.268$, p<.001). In conclusion, to enhance nursing performance for university hospital nurses, it is necessary to develop and utilize educational programs that enhance the communication competence and to develop strategies to support leisure activities for university hospital nurses.

A Study of R&D Strategy-Environmental Factors-Performances of the Academia in the Information and Telecommunication Industry: An Analysis of ITRC Projects (정보통신산업에 있어서 대학의 연구전략-영향요인-성과에 관한 연구: ITRC사업 중심으로)

  • I analyzed the relationships among motives, strategies, and performances of the university-initiated R&D activities in the Information Technology Research Center(ITRC) Projects. I suggested a research model and 3 hypothesis about them through analysis of a lot of literatures. And I also made an empirical test on the hypothesis through statistical methods. The data which were used in this analysis were gathered through a questionnaire survey to the head of R&D projects in the ITRCs. I would make several useful suggestions to the head of university's ITRCs and the policy makers. Firstly, the type of university's R&D strategy were influenced from several motives such as technology development and acquisition, co-utilizations of research facilities, and utilization and rearing of the expertise. Secondly, to select an optimal type of R&D strategy, the university should considered the efficient methods which were related to forecasting market size of new product and new technology, and to using the useful information on technology development, and to securing the expertise. Thirdly, the researcher and manager of ITRCs had to recognize the correct forecast of future market size of new product and new technology and a useful information about technology development, as the most important factors in improving performances of R&D projects. Lastly, They had to make an effort of getting the efficient methods to secure the expertise, research facilities, and rational compensation system.

  • Based on the 4 principal research-performance criteria in 28 national universities in Korea, both cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling are performed in this paper. We can classify and/or specialize the initially unknown groups into a group of relatively homogeneous universities and then create new groupings without any preconceived notion of what clusters may arise. Furthermore, the level of similarity of individual universities can be visualized on the multidimensional space so that each university is then assigned coordinates in each of the 2 dimensions. Both types and characteristics of each university can be relatively evaluated and be practically exploited for the policy of the university authority through these results.

  • The aim of this study is to develop a plan for university library evaluation with factors and their systems, and an evaluation process, based on the Korean University Library Promotion Act. This study adopts a consensus based method including open-ended interviews with various stakeholders around university libraries, a questionnaire survey, a public hearing, and numerous discussions with the stakeholders. Balanced Scorecard is adopted as a basic framework for the development of evaluation system, provides a balanced perspective on the whole aspects in the university library management, including factors and performances in the management, The proposed plan in this study is expected to help to examine whether the resources are used for reaching the goals in the libraries, and to contribute the growth of the university libraries.

Influence of Satisfaction of University and Family Cohesion on Perceived Entrapment: Moderating Effects of Resilience and Hope (대학만족도와 가족응집력이 지각된 속박감에 미치는 영향: 회복탄력성과 희망의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of resilience and hope among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. It was conducted to measure research variables from 610 university students. The moderating effect according to resilience and hope was analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis and presented in graphs of significant moderating effect. As a result of analysis, first, there were significant relationship, among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. Second, satisfaction of university and family cohesion had a significant negative effect on the perceived entrapment. Third, resilience had moderating effect within the relationship of university satisfaction and perceived entrapment. Forth, hope had moderating effect within the relationship of family cohesion and perceived entrapment. Implications of these results were explored in relation to the importance of resilience and hope that could be taken to reduce perceived entrapment.

Designing Gamification and Analyzing Performance Indicators to Enhance Academic Library Services (대학도서관 서비스 효과 증진을 위한 게이미피케이션 설계 및 성과 지표 분석)

  • Gamification is an effective strategy to enhance the quality of academic library services by encouraging student engagement and participation. This study developed a design framework for the effective implementation of gamification in academic libraries. To this end, a framework based on the information literacy model was developed through a literature review, content analysis of Korean and international case studies, and in-depth interviews with five librarians of academic libraries. The framework outlines the design elements and game mechanisms to be considered at each stage of the process, including task definition, information search, collection, utilization, and integration. Additionally, performance indicators were established to measure the cognitive, emotional, and social impacts of gamification. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for the systematic implementation and evaluation of gamification in academic libraries, ultimately contributing to increased user participation and enhanced learning motivation.

Evaluation of university funding research program via social network analysis (사회 네트워크 분석을 이용한 대학 자체학술지원 프로그램 성과 평가)

  • This research develops an evaluation framework of social network analysis, overlooked in traditional program evaluation, and applies to university funding research program. By setting degree increase, an indicator of level of research collaboration, as a goal from the viewpoint of network, we can conclude that researchers funded by university in a form of competition show statistically significant changes in degree increase via one-way ANOVA and permutation-based simulation. This research provides a tool for measuring and managing the degree of contribution of university funding to promoting research collaboration.

  • 대학 조직에서 자율성은 필수조건이다. 따라서 그것은 대학 조직에 있어서 하나의 이념으로 확보되어야 한다. 대학 조직에서 자율성은 왜 필요한가? 첫째, 교육의 본질이 학생의 자율성을 신장시키는 데 있기 때문이다. 둘째, 대학의 교육기능 자체가 전문성을 필수적으로 요구하기 때문이다. 셋째, 자율성은 대학의 전통적 기능인 연구와 교육의 기능을 창조적으로 수행하는 데 필요할 뿐만 아니라 현대와 같이 복잡한 사회에서 다양성과 창의성이 존중되고 환경과 여건의 변화에 신축성 있게 능동적으로 대응하는 데 필수적인 이념이기 때문이다. 넷째, 국가의 가장 기본법인 헌법에서부터 대학의 자율성이 보장되고 있기 때문이다.
