  • This study analyzed the respective teaching and learning-related services offered by the Centers for Teaching and Learning and the academic libraries to find the proper roles of libraries regarding this type of service. We interviewed librarians to collect the data. The content analysis of the qualitative interview data enabled us to identify the librarians' perceptions of teaching and learning support, service provision method, strengthening relationships with other academic units, recognition of libraries' roles within the universities, and generating more investment for the libraries. Finally, the analysis led to six suggestions for libraries' teaching and learning support functions, such as advertising the availability of specific academic discipline or unit-oriented library services, strengthening librarian's capabilities as educators, bolstering digital information literacy of the faculty members and students, injecting libraries' views into the development and maintaining fundamental knowledge-related programs, emphasizing the notion of human-centered libraries, and finding new ways to utilize library space.

  • In this study, the author applied the service design methodology to the university library to maximize the service value provided by the university library. To this end, the 'Double Diamond Model', a service design model, was applied to the university library, and service design tools such as Persona, Customer Journey Map, and Touch Points were utilized. To reflect on the service design in the university library, the author first reviewed the literature related to the subject and researched the previous studies. Then, the issue was discovered by questionnaire surveys, interviews with users and librarians, and field investigations. Based on this, Persona and situation scenarios were derived. In addition, after synthesizing Persona's situational behavior and user's emotional change, the study visualized the Customer Journey Map and suggested service improvement plans for 11 items in 3 areas. This study is focused on the process of deriving service improvement plans rather than improving a specific service. The purpose of this study was to improve university library service and to suggest new service plans. The significance of this study is that the practical service improvement plans were applied to the university library.

  • This research aims to explore faculty research support systems in university libraries, assess their service performance for faculty research, and suggest the need and roadmap for new service development. We perform in-depth analyses of not only the current university library evaluation criteria as part of the overall university evaluation criteria, but also ten university libraries in the United States and two university libraries in Korea. Thorough benchmarking studies reveal the problems of the current university library evaluation criteria in its advances and limitations of current faculty support service systems. Especially this research suggests to develop a one-stop service execution wheel for the roadmap for the faculty research support system which is based on customer relationship management(CRM) for one-to-one, mass-personalized services to the faculty.

  • In the rapidly changing information environment, users' information needs are diversified, and the necessity for libraries to provide customized curation services away from traditional services is increasing. Although the Second University Library Promotion Plan (2019~2023) mentions user-centered customized services, it is difficult to implement customized curation services in the current university library situation. Therefore, this study examined the theory and case of gamification applied to various fields inside and outside the library to apply gamification to the library, suggested MDA+ and found the junction with library curation service, and built gamification-based curation service prototype for job roadmap in university library. Finally, implications were drawn through verification of field experts.
