Comparison of biological activities of essential oils from Foeniculum vulgare Mill, Boswellia carteii Birew and Juniperus rigida Sieb. by a supercritical fluid extraction system (초임계 추출 공법을 이용해 회향, 유향 및 노간주나무로부터 분리한 정유 성분의 생리활성 비교)

  • Essential oils from Fennel fruit(Foeniculum vulgare Mill), Olibanum resin(Boswellia carteii Birew) and Needl Juniperus stem(Juniperus rigida Sieb.) were extracted by a supercritical fluid extraction system(SFE) and biological activity of each essential oils were observed. SFE technique was applied for the isolation and purification of nonpolar biologically active essential oils from each samples. The quantitative analysis of essential oils was carried out by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer(GC/MS). About 60% of the growth of AGS and A549 cells were inhibited by adding 1.0g/l of the crude essential oils and below 40% was observed by the control. Cytotoxicity on human normal lung cell(HEL299) was scored as $15{\sim}18%$ for the crude essential oils and 12% for control, respectively. It meant that the essential oils were more effective than the control in anti-mutagenecity tested by CHO V79 cells. The effect of the essential oils on the growth of nerve cells, PC12 was observed as follows: The viable cell density was about two times higher than control.

  • Technological propensity of agricultural entrepreneurs is becoming necessary to identify and explore new opportunities. Recent studies suggest that the adoption of new technologies is strictly coherent with wider approaches of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO). Even if the relevance of agriculture is increasing, entrepreneurial research has largely overlooked this challenging sector. Moreover, there is a relative shortage of empirical studies in the literature and there is an enormous potential to be still explored. Stemming from the EO literature, the work proposes for the agricultural sector, the approach of Humane Entrepreneurial Orientation (HEO). The paper proposes an empirical analysis, to verify the effect of the different dimensions of HEO on the propensity of farmers to adopt new technologies. All the results highlight several implications for businesses, for the research system and for public policies.

A study on non-response bias adjusted estimation for take-all stratum (전수층 무응답 편향보정 추정법에 관한 연구)

  • In business survey, modified cut-off sampling is commonly used to greatly increase the accuracy of the estimation while reducing the number of samples. However, non-response rate of take-all stratum has increased significantly and the sample substitution is not possible because the non-response in the take-all stratum affects the accuracy of the estimation. It is important to adjust the bias appropriately if non-response is affected by the variable of interest. In this study, a bias adjusted estimation is proposed as an appropriate method to deal with a non-response in the take-all stratum. In particular, the estimator proposed by Chung and Shin (2020) was applied to the bias adjustment for the take-all stratum; therefore, we suggest a new method to adjust properly for the take-all stratum. The superiority of the proposed estimator was examined through simulation studies and confirmed through actual data analysis.

진공증발법을 이용한 CZTSe 광흡수층 박막 제조 및 태양전지 특성 분석

  • 높은 광흡수 계수를 갖는Cu(In,Ga) $Se_2$ (CIGS) 화합물 박막 소재는 고효율 태양전지 양산을 위해 가장 전도유망한 재료이나 상대적으로 매장량이 적은 In 및 Ga을 사용한다는 소재적 한계가 있다. $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) 혹은 $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$(CZTS)와 같은 Cu-Zn-Sn-Se계 화합물 반도체는 CIGS 내 희소원소인 In과 Ga이 범용원소인 Zn 및 Sn으로 대체된 소재로써 미래형 저가 태양전지 개발을 위해 활발히 연구되고 있는데, 그 화합물 조합에 따라 0.8 eV부터 1.5 eV까지의 에너지 밴드갭을 갖는 것으로 알려져 있다. 스퍼터링법에 기반한 2단계 공정에 의해 3.2%의 CZTSe 및 6.7%의 CZTS 태양전지 효율 달성이 보고된 바 있으며, 최근 비진공 방식을 이용하여 제조된 $Cu_2ZnSn(S,Se)_4$ (CZTSSe) 태양전지가 9.6%의 변환효율을 생산하여 세계 최고기록을 갱신한 바 있다. 반면, 동시진공증발법에 의한 Cu-Zn-Sn-Se계 연구는 박막 조성 조절이 상대적으로 용이하다는 장점에도 불구하고, 상대적으로 공개된 연구결과의 양이 적으며 그 효율에 대한 보고는 특히 미미하다. 본 연구에서는 동시진공증발법에 의한 CZTSe 박막 연구 결과를 바탕으로 Sn 손실을 최소화하기 위한 진공증발 공정을 최적화하였으며, 이를 통해 CZTSe 박막 태양전지를 제조하고 그 특성분석을 통해 5% 이상의 변환효율을 달성하였다.

A Study on the Design and Fabrication of the Planar Light Waveguide type $2\times32$ Optical Coupler (평면도파로형 $2\times32$ 광커플러의 설계와 제작에 관한 연구)

  • The $2\times32$ coupler consists of Mach-Zehnder interferometer and Y branch coupler. For the designs of this coupler, three dimensional rectangular core waveguide decomposed to two-dimensional structure by the effective index method. To optimize the waveguide structure, the confinement factor was investigated with two-dimensional finite difference Beam Propagation Method. The $2\times32$ coupler fabricated by simulation with height between Mach-Zehnder arms, H=$43.6\mu\textrm{m}$(path difference $0.668\mu\textrm{m}$) was showed best characteristics. In the results of dry etching of core layer, the etching rate of core layer was above 2600${\AA}$/min, the etching ratio of SiO2 to Al mask was 30:1 and the uniformity of etching was $\pm$5%. The maximum insertion loss and the uniformity of $2\times32$ coupler were below 19.2dB, 2dB respectively.

Interaction between Brassinolide and Auxins on Bioassays (Brassinolide와 Auxin과의 상호작용의 생물검정에 의한 평가)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the interaction effect of a new plant growth regulator brassinolide and auxins using several bioassay methods such as rice lamina inclination test, oat coleoptile segment growth test and radish hypocotyl elongation test. For rice lamina inclination test, the antagonistic response showed at low concentration combinations of homobrassinolide and auxins (IAA and 2,4-D), while the combinations of high concentration responsed mostly synergistic or additive effects, IAA was generally higher than 2,4-D for combination effect with homobrassinolide. For oat coleoptile segment growth test, the synergistic effect showed at IAA concentrations less than 0.1ppm while additive response exhibited above 0.3ppm regardless of homobrassinolide concentrations. In radish hypocotyl elongation test, the interaction response varied with cotyledon. The sections removed cotyledon showed mostly antagonistic effects, except for combination of homobrassinolide with IAA 3ppm. Interaction responses were Quite different from bioassay methods, particularly using experimental materials: antagonistic responses were usually shown at the section that attached growing point while these for sections that removed growing point were responded synergistic or additive effect due to unstable endogenous hormones.

  • Although chemical sedimentation and ion exchange are usually applied to the treatment of heavy metal ions and radioactive cations, they have some serious disadvantages like a great consumption of chemicals, the disposal of valuable metals, and the secondary pollution of soil by the solid-waste. The advanced countries recently have studied the electrochemical ion exchange, combined electrochemical reduction and ion exchange, for the development of the alternative technique. This study has been performed to investigate the optimum condition for the preparation of the nickel hexacyanoferrate (NiHCNFe) which is an electrochemical ion exchanger. NiHCNFe film was deposited on the surface of nickel plate by chemical method or electrochemical method. The morphology and composition of NiHCNFe were observed by SEM and EDS, respectively. The peak current density of NiHCNFe was measured from the cyclic voltammograms of the continuous oxidation-reduction reaction in a parallel plane ion exchange electrode reactor. It was found that the chemical preparation method was better than the electrochemical method. The concentrated NiHCNFe was apparently deposited on nickel plate when dipping in the preparing solution for 118 h, especially. It also had a best durable performance as an ion exchange electrode.

  • 생명공학의 시대로 일컬어 지고 있는 오늘날, 재생의학 분야에서는 난치성 질환 치료를 목적으로 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 특히, 줄기세포를 이용한 세포 대체치료 관련 연구는 최근 국내 황우석 박사의 체세포 핵이식 배아세포주 확립에 이르기 까지 괄목할 만한 발전을 보여 주고 있다. 이와 관련해 생명보험산업에 적잖은 파장이 예상되며, 생명보험사 내부적으로 기존에 판매된 상품의 사차손 관리와 함께 급속도로 발전하는 줄기세포 연구에 직접적으로 대응하는 상품개발, 언더라이팅, 지급 심사 등 보험사 내외에서의 전방위적인 변화가 필요하다는 문제 제기가 있다. 줄기세포란 조직 분화 과정에서 볼 수 있는 세포이며 근육 뼈 뇌 피부 등 신체의 어떤 기관으로도 전환할 수 있는 만능세포로서, 간 폐 심장 등 구체적 장기를 형성하기 이전에 분화를 멈출 배아 단계의 세포를 말한다. 한편, 성체줄기세포는 조직이나 기관의 분화된 세포들 사이에서 발견되는 미분화 세포로써, 자기 스스로 증식할 수 있으며, 조직이나 기관의 특수한 기능을 가지고 있는 세포로 분화할 수 있는 능력을 가진 신체줄기세포를 말한다. 배아줄기세포와 생체줄기세포를 통한 장기이식 등 난치병 정복은 윤리적, 사회적으로 많은 논란이 예상되며, 기술적으로도 해결해야 할 문제점들이 산적해 있기 때문에 아직은 요원한 것이 사실이다. 현재 유럽 대부분의 나라와 미국에서는 인간 배아의 복제가 금지되어 있으며, 일본 정부는 연구용 배아 복제를 제한적으로 허용하고 있다. 하지만, 우리 나라의 경우 2005년 1월에 '생명윤리 및 안전에 관한 법'이 발효되었지만 정부는 관련 부작용에 대한 깊은 고찰 없이 전폭적인 지원들 약속하고 있는 실정이다. 줄기세포 연구의 발달로 인해 인류가 난치병 치료의 첫 장을 열었다고 하더라도 그 영향이 당장 보험사에 미친다고 할 수는 없다. 왜냐하면 앞으로 이러한 신기술이 실제 의료행위에 적용되기 위해서는 여러 단계의 안정화 작업과 임상시험이 필요한데 이러한 작업이 기술적으로 어렵고 그 시간도 만만치 않게 걸리기 때문이다. 또한, 보험사의 보장은 크게 사망/수술/입원/암/기타보장으로 구별할 수 있는데, 줄기세포 연구의 발달과 관련이 있는 보장이 제한되어 있어 보험사에 미치는 영향이 당장 우려할 만한 수준이라 할 수 없다. 하지만 만약 치료용 줄기세포 배양으로 인한 장기 기관의 이식이나 손상세포의 대체 등과 같은 의학신기술의 예상 외로 급격하게 발전한다면 보험사의 Risk 관리에 상당한 저해요인으로 작용할 것으로 판단된다. 특히 진단 입원 수술로 대표되는 생존보장에 대한 사차 Risk 및 사차손의 급증이나 역선택 증가는 보험사의 경영수지 악화를 유발하여 보험산업 전반에 위험으로 작용할 수도 있다. 따라서, 장기적인 안목으로 업계 공동의 대응이 필요하고, 각 사에서도 상품개발, 언더라이팅, 지급심사 간의 긴밀한 협조가 요구된다. 생명보험산업의 Risk 관리는 기존의 시장환경에 영향을 받는 비차, 이차중심에서 보험회사가 어느 정도 관리를 통해 적정규모를 유지할 수 있는 사차로 그 중심축이 이동하고 있다. 보험산업이 계속 활력을 갖고 성장하기 위해서는 체계적인 Risk나 관리가 핵심일 것이며, 보험사의 사차 Risk의 중요성이 더욱 커져 가고 있는 현실에서 거시적으로 의학신기술 발달 등 위험요인에 대해 미리 분석하고 이에 대한 대비책 마련이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

MHC Class II Allele Association in Korean Children With IgA Nephropathy and its Role as a Prognostic Factor (한국인 IgA 신병증 환아에서 MHC Class II유전자형과 예후와의 관계 분석)

  • Purpose: Our study was designed to investigate the association of MHC Class II (DR, DQ) allele with IgA nephropathy and its significance as a prognostic factor for progression to ESRD Material and Methods: 69 children with IgA nephropathy with normal renal function(serum creatinine $\leq$ 1.5mg/dL) was classified as group A and 70 patients who received renal transplantation due to IgA nephropathy were selected as group B. The HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB1 alleles were studied by polymerase chain reaction using sequence specific primers. We have compared the difference in alleles between these two groups and with normal control and also examined any possible effect of the MHC class II genes on the histopathological severity and prognosis of IgAN. Results: Mean age was $8.8{\pm}2.9$ years in group A and $35.0{\pm}15.5$ years in group B. Male to female ratio was 2.8:1 in group A and 2.5:1 in group B. There was a significantly higher frequency of HLA-$DQB1^*03\;and\;DQB1^*05$ in Group B. The frequency of HLA-$DQB1^*0302\;and\;^*05031$ allele had increasing tendency in Group B(P<0.05). HLA-$DRB1^*03\;and\;^*05$ were more common in Group B(P<0.05). HLA-$DRB1^*04$ allele was the most common DR alleles in both group, but there was no statistical significance. There were no significant correlation with MHC class 13 genes on the hjstopathological severity in Group A. Conclusion: In conclusion, $HLA-DQB1^*0302\;and\;HLA-DQB1^*05031 $ allele seemed to be more common in transplanted patients compared to group with normal renal function suggesting that this allele is associated with poor prognosis in IgAN. However larger studies and follow up are required to confirm this due to uncharacterized heterogeneity in etiopathogenesis of IgA nephropathy and possibly one or more than one gene may exert influence in determining susceptibility to the diseases.

Further Improvement of Direct Solution-based FETI Algorithm (직접해법 기반의 FETI 알고리즘의 개선)

  • This paper presents an improved computational framework for the direct-solution-based finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) algorithm. The FETI-local algorithm is further improved herein, and localized Lagrange multipliers are used to define the interface among its subdomains. Selective inverse entry computation, using a property of the Boolean matrix, is employed for the computation of the subdomain interface stiffness and load, in which the original FETI-local algorithm requires a full matrix inverse computation of a high computational cost. In the global interface computation step, the original serial computation is replaced by a parallel multi-frontal method. The performance of the improved FETI-local algorithm was evaluated using a numerical example with 64 million degrees of freedom (DOFs). The computational time was reduced by up to 97.8% compared to that of the original algorithm. In addition, further stable and improved scalability was obtained in terms of a speed-up indicator. Furthermore, a performance comparison was conducted to evaluate the differences between the proposed algorithm and commercial software ANSYS using a large-scale computation with 432 million DOFs. Although ANSYS is superior in terms of computational time, the proposed algorithm has an advantage in terms of the speed-up increase per processor increase.
