In this paper, we proposed stereo matching algorithm by dynamic programming with edges emphasized. Existing algorithms show blur generally at depth discontinuities owing to smoothness constraint and non-existence of matching pixel in occlusion regions. Also it accompanies matching error by lackness of matching information in the untextured regions. This paper defines new cost function to make up for the problems occurred to existing algorithms. It is possible through deriving matching of edges in left and right images to be carried out between edge regions anf deriving that in the other regions to be peformed between the other regions. In case of the possibility that edges can be Produced in a large amount, matching between edge information adds weight to cost function in proportion to Path distance. Proposed algorithm was applied to various images obtained by convergent camera model as well as parallel camera model. As the result, proposed algorithm showed improved performance in the aspect of matching error and processing in the occlusion regions compared to existing algorithms. Also it could improve blur especially in discontinuity regions.
Seismic refracrion and reflection surveys were conducted along an E-W trending track of 482 m long in Ilwall-dong, Pohang. End-on spread was employed as source-receiver configuration with 2 m for both geophone interval and offset. Seismic data were acquired using 24 channels at every shot fired every 2 m along the track. Refraction data were interpreted using equations for multi-horizontal layers. Reflection data were processed in the sequence of trace edit, gain control, CMP sorting, NMO correction, mute, common offset gathering, and filtering to produce a single fold seismic section. There are two layers in shallow subsurface of the study area. Upper layer has the P-wave velocities ranging from 267 to 566 m/s and is interpreted as a layer of unconsolidated sediments. Lower layer has P-wave velocities of 1096-3108 m/s and is interpreted as weathered rock to hard rock. Most of the lower layer classified as soft rock. Upper layer has lateral variations in both P-wave velocity and thickness. The upper layer in the eastern part of the seismic line is 3-5 m thick and has P-wave velocity of 400 m/s in average. The upper layer in the western part is 8-10 m thick and has P-wave velocity of 340 m/s in average. The eastern part is interpreted as unconsolidated beach sand, while the western part is interpreted as infilled soil to develop a construction site. Three fault systems of high angle are imaged in seismic reflection section. It is interpreted that the area between these fault systems are relatively safe. Large buildings should be located in the safe ground condition of no fault and footings should be designed to be in the basement rock of 3-10 m deep below the surface.

In this study we briefly introduce the electronic float system based on the GPS and RF communication technology and present some field application results. The system is capable of operating 15 floats simultaneously for making discharge measurement. Since the electronic floats (EFs) acquire flow paths, they can improve velocity measurement accuracy up to 10%. Additionally, measured velocities by the EFs show good agreement with those by an ADCP. Relative difference in sub-section area calculated by the electronic and conventional float methods is -79~71% and, due to convergent tendency of floats flowing along near banks, it increases much larger. It is possible to improve accuracy up to 5~6% in making discharge measurement by the electronic floats at site with irregular flow paths and section arrangement. The electronic float system is capable of calculating more accurate velocity and section area using position information based on GPS. By real-time measurement of velocity, cross-section area and discharge, the electronic float system is expected to reduce manpower and improve accuracy, rapidity and efficiency of flood discharge measurements.
Currently, the design guidelines for the prevention of progressive collapse are not available in Korea due to the lack of study efforts in progressive collapse resistance evaluation of RC flat plate system. Therefore, in this study, three types of analysis were conducted to evaluate the progressive collapse resistance of a RC flat plate system. A linear static analysis was carried out by comparing the demand-capacity ratio (DCR) differences of the systems using the alternate load path method, which is the guideline of GSA. A dynamic behavior was investigated by checking the vertical deflection after removal of the column using the linear dynamic analysis. Lastly, a maximum load factor was investigated using the nonlinear static analysis. The finite element (FE) analyses were conducted using various parameters to analyze the results obtained using effective beam width (EB) model and plate element FEM (PF) model. This study results showed that the strength contributions of the slab in the EB models are underestimated compared to those obtained from the PF models. Therefore, a detailed FE analysis considering the slab element is required to thoroughly estimate the progressive collapse resisting capacity of flat plate system. The scenario of the corner column (CC) removal is the most dangerous conditions where as the scenario of the inner column (IC) removal is the least dangerous conditions based on the consideration of various parameters. The analysis results will allow more realistic evaluations of progressive collapse resistance of RC flat plate system.
Numerous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) produced by periodic combinations of organic ligands and metal ions or metal-oxo clusters have led the way for the creation of energy-efficient membrane-based separations that may serve as viable replacements for traditional thermal counterparts. Although tremendous progress has been made over the past decade in the synthesis of polycrystalline MOF membranes, only a small number of MOFs have been exploited in the relevant research. Intercrystalline defects, or nonselective diffusion routes in polycrystalline membranes, are likely the reason behind the delay. Postsynthetic modifications (PSMs) are newly emerging strategies for providing polycrystalline MOF membrane diversity by leveraging advanced membranes as a platform and improving their separation capabilities via physical and/or chemical treatments; therefore, neither designing and developing MOFs nor tailoring membrane synthesis techniques for focused MOFs is necessary. In this minireview, seven subclasses of PSM techniques that have recently been adapted to polycrystalline MOF membranes are outlined, along with obstacles and future directions.
Five barley varieties were compared under six 1evels of nitrogen fertilization and two methods of cultural management, conventional and drill seeding. The increase in grain yield and nitrogen content of the leaves showed a significant linear regression from added increaments of nitrogen in Haganemugi and Olbori, particulary under drill seeding. The other varieties resulted in various degrees of lodging and no significant increases in yield. The spike number per square meter was the major component of yield, but when the spike number per square meter was sufficient, 1000 grain weight was equally as important as a component of yield.

A tentative hydrogeologic and hydrodispersive study was carried out to evaluate the groundwater pollution potential at a selected site by utilizing empirical assessment methodologies in an advanced stage of quantitative computer aided assessment. The upper most aquifer is defind as saturated overburden and weathered zone including the upper part of highly fractured rock. Representative hydraulic conductivity and storativity of the uppermost aquifer are estimated at 2.88 E-6 m/s and 0.09, respectively. Also calculated Darcian and average linear velocity of groundwater along the major pathway are 0.011 m/d and 0.12 m/d with average hydraulic gradient of 4.6% in the site. The results of empirical assessment methodologies indicate that 1) DRASTIC depicts that the site is situated on non-sensitive and non-vulnerable area. 2) Legrand numerical rating system shows that the probability of contamination and degree of acceptability are classed to "Maybe-Improbable, and Probable Acceptable and Marginally Unacceptable" with situation grade of "B". 3)Waste soil-site interaction matrix assessment categorizes that the study site is located on "Class-8 Site".

The $2\times32$ coupler consists of Mach-Zehnder interferometer and Y branch coupler. For the designs of this coupler, three dimensional rectangular core waveguide decomposed to two-dimensional structure by the effective index method. To optimize the waveguide structure, the confinement factor was investigated with two-dimensional finite difference Beam Propagation Method. The $2\times32$ coupler fabricated by simulation with height between Mach-Zehnder arms, H=$43.6\mu\textrm{m}$(path difference $0.668\mu\textrm{m}$) was showed best characteristics. In the results of dry etching of core layer, the etching rate of core layer was above 2600${\AA}$/min, the etching ratio of SiO2 to Al mask was 30:1 and the uniformity of etching was $\pm$5%. The maximum insertion loss and the uniformity of $2\times32$ coupler were below 19.2dB, 2dB respectively.
The flavonoid, isokaempferide, has various biological activities such as hepatoprotective, antimicrobial and antiproliferative effect and is extracted from Amburana cearensis and Cirsium rivulare (Jacq.). Biotransformation is an alternative tool for the synthesis of value-added flavonoids with inexpensive substrates. Here, to synthesize isokaempferide from naringenin, two genes, PFLS and Rice O-mthyltransferae-9 were introduced in Escherichia coli. Although isokaempferide was successfully synthesized, the amount of biosynthesis was no high. In order to increase the yields of isokaempferide, S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) used as a methyl donor was increased by deleting MetJ, which is a transcriptional regulator related to SAM biosynthetic pathway. Next we optimized the cell concentration and substrate feed concentration with the engineered E. coli strain. Through these strategies, the biosynthesis of isokaempferide was increased up to 87 mg/L.

Purpose : The aim of this study is to identify where and how adolescents acquire cigarettes and how many were asked for identification while purchasing cigarettes. Methods : This study was conducted in 2003; participants were 2,200 students in middle and high schools, aged from 13 to 18 years old(males 1,098; females 1,102) in Ansan, Korea. The questionnaire assured them of anonymity, and self-administered in school. The data was analyzed with chisquare test for trends. Results : The prevalence of smoking was about 20 percent among respondents, was higher in males than in females, and in older students than in younger students(P<0.001). The most frequent source of cigarettes was purchased from a store(36.3 percent). About 29.2 percent of the students borrowed from friends or family members. By sex, the main sources of cigarettes were purchase from a store and borrowing. Younger students were borrowed more cigarettes; older students purchased more cigarettes from stores. Only 48.8 percent were asked for proof of age during their purchase. Of those asked for proof of age, about 73.3 percent answered that this made it difficult to buy cigarettes(P<0.001), and they thought that it was more difficult when asked for a photo ID than simply being asked their age(P=0.019). Conclusion : So far, there has been no systemic prevention of adolescents' smoking. It is difficult for minors to purchase cigarettes if asked for proof of age, but most minors go to stores to purchase cigarettes. Therefore, prevention efforts should include educating retailers not to sell cigarettes to minors and enforcing existing laws requiring youth to provide proof of age when attempting to buy cigarettes.
