An Efficient Adaptive Sampling Technique based on the Kalman Filter for Sensor Monitoring (센서 모니터링을 위한 칼만필터 기반의 효율적인 적응적 샘플링 기법)

  • In sensor network environments, each sensor measures the physical environments according to the sampling period, and transmits a sensor reading to the base station. Thus, the sample period influences against importance resources such as a network bandwidth, and a battery power. In this paper, we propose new adaptive sampling technique that adjusts the sampling period of a sensor with respect to the features of sensor readings. The proposed technique predicts a future readings based on KF (Kalman Filter). By using the differences of actual readings and estimated reading, we identify the importance of sensor readings, and then, we adjust the sampling period according to the importance. In our experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique.

Polymeric digital optical switch based on photobleached waveguides (광표백 폴리머 광도파로를 이용한 디지탈 광스위치)

  • An electro-optic polymer digital optical switch was fabricated by using a photobleached waveguide and a self-aligned electrode. It features wavelength insensitive operation, fabrication tolerance and flexible design. And its possible advantages include low coupling losses to the fibers and wide bandwidths. For improving its switching performance, the guided mode profiles of the photobleached waveguides were controlled by photobleaching times to achieve optimized coupling in the branch. And the self-aligned electrode was employed to achieve both efficient overlap of the optical and electric fields and easy introduction of the adiabatically tapered electrodes. The measured crosstalks were better than -21dB at 1.32 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and the extinction ratios of each output port were also more than 20 dB.

  • A multilayer two-stage LC bandpass filter using low-temperature cofired-ceramic(LTCC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed bandpass filter is composed of two ceramic substrates with different dielectric constant instead of single ceramic material from top to bottom layer. Inductive elements are designed in a low permitivity ceramic layer to reduce parasitic effects and loss, while capacitive elements are designed in a high permitivity ceramic layer for size reduction. The proposed filter has 950 MHz center &equency, 118 MHz tractional bandwidth, and 3.5 dB insertion loss. And, the total size of this filter is 2.5${\times}$2.5${\times}$l.4mm$^3$. The performance of filter is analyzed by changing coupling capacitance between each resonator.

  • The tension effect on fiber Bragg gratings was analyzed and the linearity of 1.24 nm/10kpsi was obtained when Bragg wavelength was varied within 3 nm by applied tension. Using tension control method, different center wavelength fiber Bragg grating(FBG) were fabricated by only single period phase mask. These serially connected four FBGs showed the transmission spectrum of 1.5 nm linewidth as a 3 dB bandwidth which was twice that of a conventional FBG.

  • 현재의 인터넷 망을 이용하여 음성, 화상 정보를 실시간으로 이용하고자 하는 다양한 응용이 시도되고 있다. 차세대 통신으로 주목 받고 있는 IMT-2000에서도 기존의 회선 교환망 대신 인터넷 망을 이용함으로써 경제성, 관리의 편의성, 새로운 서비스의 창출이 가능한 등의 이점이 있다. 인터넷 망이 최선의 노력(best effort)만을 제공하기 때문에 발생되는 신뢰성과 지연의 문제는 이미 많은 연구가 있어왔고 현재 어느 정도의 서비스 품질을 획득하여 VoIP(Voice Over Internet Protocol)와 같은 서비스가 실제로 이용되고 있다. 그러나 무선 통신의 경우는 이에 더하여 무선 구간에서의 자원 할당의 문제가 남아 있다. 본 연구에서는 코어 망으로 인터넷 프로토콜을 사용하는 차세대 All-IP 망에서, 무선 이동단말 간의 멀티미디어 서비스가 가능하도록 효율적인 주파수 할당을 지원하는 QoS 관리자를 설계하였다. 제안한 QoS(Quality Of Service)관리자는 요구 대역폭이 다른 멀티미디어 호 요청에 대해 융통성 있는 주파수 할당이 가능하도록 대국의 QoS 관리자와의 협상을 통해 제한된 범위 내에서 서비스 품질을 조절하여 보다 많은 호 연결 요청이 성공할 수 있도록 한다.

  • In this paper. It is proposed and fabricated that the new antenna of dual T type structure is shifted easily center frequency. This antenna consists of dual dipoles resemblance to dual T type, which are fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) on signal plane. The analyzed and measured characteristic of new antenna is controled between distance of two dipoles for shifting center frequency. The proposed antenna is 450MHz bandwidth for using IMT2000 band. The characteristic parameters of the proposed antenna are analyzed by using a FDTD methods.

  • These days, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission method is widely used for broadband communication systems. The OFDM, which uses sine waves as orthogonal basis functions, is one of the orthogonal waveform modulation techniques. In this paper, we investigate a wavelet packet modulation method which uses wavelet packets instead of sine waves as the basis functions. The wavelet packets may have different patterns in two dimensional time-frequency domain, and we can design the packets appropriate for the channel environments with much flexibility. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of the wavelet packet modulation as one of the multicarrier modulation methods, And we illustrate by simulations that narrowband interference can be reduced effectively by control the bandwidth of the wavelet packets.

  • Multimedia data services have been widely developed with the recent progression of the Internet technology. Multimedia services, especially, must guarantee Quality of Service with restricted environment resources. The abrupt increase of transmission quanta, so called burst, and the number of client that access multimedia server, with limited network bandwidth will demage the quality of service and the utilization of network resource. Smoothing techniques can reduce the burst of a variable bit rate stream by transmitting data at a series of fixed rates. In this paper, we present a new smoothing algorithm using MPEG's characteristics in transmitting stored video data with VBR. The smoothing algorithm we present will be verified with assorted existing techniques in diverse environments.

  • In this paper, I evaluated the throughput of various multimedia traffic by using computer simulation over wireless LAN environment based on 802.11e MAC protocol. The number of mobile terminals which generate various traffic and have different Internet QoS varies to improve the reliability of performance evaluation by simulation. Therefore, we investigate throughput of traffic that each mobile terminal generates. I expect that the result of study will be utilized as a fundamental data to control priorities of various types of traffic in case of formulating a scheduling policy supporting a variety of Internet QoS over wired and wireless networks.

  • 현재의 인터넷과 같은 전자 통신망과 멀티미디어 시스템의 발달은 고속의 대용량 데이터 전송을 필요로 한다. 초고속 통신 시스템에서의 고속 데이터 전송은 주로 광섬유를 사용하는 광통신으로 이루어지고 있다. FTTH(Fiber To The Home)와 같은 광통신 시스템은 멀티미디어 커뮤니케이션을 위해 필요한 큰 데이터 전송률을 제공할 수 있기 때문에 더욱 더 중요성이 높아지고 있으며 이러한 광통신 시스템에서는 통신환경의 영향을 적게 받고 외부 조절이나 부품이 필요하지 않는 수신기 IC 의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 일반적으로 광통신 수신기에는 고속 동작에 적합한 특성을 가진 GaAs-MESFET 가 사용되고 있으나, 본 논문에서는 0.35um CMOS 2-poly 4-metal 공정을 이용하여 5Gbps 광수신기를 설계하였다. 설계된 수신기는 Preamplifier, Main amplifier, ABC 회로로 구성되어 있다. Transimpedance amplifier 형태의 Preamplifier 는 광검출기에 의해 생성된 전류 신호를 전압 신호로 변환한다. ABC 회로는 Peak_Hold 회로와 Bottom_Hold 회로로 구성되어 있다. 기존의 Peak_Hold 회로에서는 다이오드와 hold capacitor 를 이용하여 peak 값을 검출하도록 되어 있는데, 다이오드를 이용하는 경우 작은 입력 신호전압의 Peak 값을 검출하는 데 한계가 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하고자 전류 거울형태의 Peak_Hold 회로를 설계하였다. 전류거울(current mirror)형태의 출력 신호의 duty error 를 줄이고 비트 에러율(Bit Error Rate)을 개선하는데 효과적이었다. 설계된 광수신기는 30dB 의 입력 dynamic range 와 입력 capacitance 3pF 에서 80MHz 의 대역폭을 가진다. 전력 소비량은 3.3V 전원 전압이 인가된 경우 약 150mW 정도이다.
