A new MAC protocol has been proposed and analysed to relieve the unfairness problems exhibited by the basic version of the DQDB standard. DQDB MAC protocol has the unfairness problems in throughputs. message delay and so or. And when the slots are reused or the file transmissions takes long, the unfairness problems in the system become worse. The new access protocol proposed here, which of called the Balanced DQDB, guarantees a fair bandwidth distribution by using one bit of the dual bus network protocol and keeps up all characteristics of DQDB. the DQDB analysis model introduced by Wen Jing, et al, was considered to analyse a sequential balance distribution of solts. And the probabilities of the empty in operation mode were represented to determine the probabilities for busy bits to generate on each node of the bus using the Markov chain. Through the simulations. the performances of the proposed Balanced DQDB and that of the standard DQDB of the BWB mechanism were compared at the state that the values of the RQ or CD counter on each node varied dynamically. As the results, it is shown that the Balanced DQDB has the decrement of throughputs in upstream, but the numbers of the used empty slots at each node of the Balanced DQDB had more than that of the others because the Balanced DQDB has over 0.9 throughputs in the 70~80% nodes of total node and it has constant throughputs at each node. And there results were analogous to that of the analytical model.

In this paper, the characteristics of an inverted-F antenna for the 2.4GHz local wireless communication system have been analysed in terms of the variation of design parameters. The antenna can be integrated on printed circuit board, and the characteristics in terms of the variation of the gap between feed line and shorting stub, gap between antenna's leg and ground plane, antenna leg's width, substrate's height and dielectric constant are analysed. By using these characterization plot of design parameter, the tuning techniques are proposed to design optimum antenna. The designed antenna has 6.4% frequency bandwidth for VSWR under 1.5 and 3dB gain.

In this paper, a mechanism to enhance the utilization of the tertiary storage devices such as optical disk, digital tape and so on is proposed. For this purpose, we suggest a storage structure with a CD-ROM and multiple disk and design an efficient mechanism to represent the continuous media stored in CD-ROM. The continuous media storage structure proposed in this pater can enhanced the retrieval capability of information by sending data using a shared bus with high bandwidth. And a continuous media representation mechanism not only can reduce the discontinuity of representation using parallel operation of fetch and representation but also minimize the variance of service time and the missing ratio of re-reference requirement by residing frequently accessed object on the disk.
We propose a saturable absorber reflector based on guided-mode resonance. A carbon nanotube is used as a saturable absorber. By tuning the fill factor, modulation depth can be increased without a change of height of the CNT. We investigate the reflector properties such as modulation depth, bandwidth and peak reflectance as a function of the height of the CNT and the fill factor. The advantage of the proposed reflector is that it can reduce saturation energy by 50 times compared with CNT thin film of 100~200nm.

Since the internet is intend to be the best effort service, the system that stream a large amount of high quality medias need a techniques to overcome the network status for implementation. In this paper, we design and implement a method that estimate quickly whether network permits the needed bandwidth of media and a method that control QoS through that. Presented system uses Relative One-Way Delay(ROWD) trend in the case of the former, and leverages temporal encoding among Scalable Video Coding(SVC) that is apt to apply real time comparatively in the case of the latter. The streaming server classifies the medias by real time to several rates and begins transmission from top-level and is reported ROWD trend periodically from the client. In case of the server reported only 'Increase Trend', the sever decides that the current media exceeds the available bandwidth and downgrades the next media level. The system uses probe packet of difference quantity of the target level and the present level for upgrading the media level. In case of the server reported only 'No Increase Trend' by the ROWD trend response of the probe packet from client, the media level is upgraded. The experiment result in a fiber to the home(FTTH) environment shows progress that proposed system adapts faster in change of available bandwidth and shows that quality of service also improves.

To recover transmitted signal perfectly at DTV receiver, we have to acquire carrier frequency synchronization to compensate pilot signal which located in wrong position and rotated phase. Also, we need a symbol timing synchronization to compensate sampling timing error. Conventionally, to synchronize symbol timing, we use Gardner's scheme which used in multi-level signal. Gardner's scheme is well known for its sampling the timing error signal from every symbol and it makes easy to detect and keep timing sync in multi-path channel. In this paper, to discuss the problem when the received power level is out of range and we cannot get synchronization information. With this problem, we use 2 step procedures. First, we put a received signal power compensation block before Garder's timing error detector. Second, adaptive loop filter to get a fast synchronization information and averaging loop filter's output value to reduce the amount of jitter after synchronization in PLL(Phased Locked Loop) circuit which is used to get a carrier frequency synchronization and symbol timing synchronization. Using the averaging value, we can estimate offset. Based on offset changing ratio, we can adapt adaptive loop filter to carrier frequency and symbol timing synchronization circuit.

Because the H.264/AVC standard adopts the variable length coding algorithm, the rate of encoded video bitstream fluctuates a lot as time flows, though its compression efficiency is superior to that of existing standards. When a video is transmitted in real-time over networks with fixed low-bandwidth, it is necessary to control the bit rate which is generated from encoder. Many existing rate control algorithms have been adopting the quadratic rate-distortion model which determines the target bits for each frame. We propose a new rate control algorithm for H.264/AVC video transmission over networks with fixed bandwidth. The proposed algorithm predicts quantization parameter adaptively to reduce video distortion using the quadratic rate-distortion model, which uses the target bit rate and the mean absolute difference for current frame considering pixel difference between macroblocks in the previous and the current frame. On video samples with high motion and scene change cases, experimental results show that (1) the proposed algorithm adapts the encoded bitstream to limited channel capacity, while existing algorithms abruptly excess the limit bit rate; (2) the proposed algorithm improves picture quality with $0.4{\sim}0.9dB$ in average.
In order to transmit video data stored in servers with limited bandwidth in IoT environments to many clients, a transmission plan must be established by considering factors such as the number of transmission rate changes, peak transmission rate, and transmission rate changes. This transmission plan is called smoothing, and includes CBA that minimizes the number of transmission rate increases, MCBA that minimizes the number of transmission rate changes, and MVBA to minimize the transmission rate changes. In this work, to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm[16], we compare the proposed algorithm with the existing smoothing algorithms with the peak rate, the number of transmission rate changes, the rate increase, the peak rate utilization, and the average transmission rate with various video data and buffer sizes. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm helps to efficiently use the server's finite network resources by establishing a transport plan with the lowest average transfer rate.
