Estimation of Site Index and Stem Volume Equations for Larix leptolepis Stand in Jinan, Chonbuk (전북 진안 낙엽송 임분의 지위지수 및 간재적식 추정)

  • The objectives of this study were to derive site index and stem volume prediction equation based on stem analysis data for Larix leptolepis in Jinan region. The function for site index was developed by algebraic difference equation method. Polymorphic site index family curves with base age of 40 were presented based on the Schumacher height equation. The best stem volume prediction equation was suggested as $V=0.00260+0.00000399D^2H$. The simultaneous F-test using this equation showed that the estimated tree stem volumes were not significantly different (${\alpha}=0.05$ level) from the observed stem volumes for model evaluation. Therefore, site index and volume prediction equations prepared in this study could provide an indication of site quality and basic information for making of yield table, and could be used for rational forest management of Larix leptolepis stands grown in Jinan region.

  • This study was to investigate how the underachievers of mathematics in a non-leveling excellent high school would overcome the errors through the lessons based on the inductive thinking model in the equation of a circle. The results showed that when there were many stages to solve the problem, the students gave it up or forgot the stage they reached. In this case, if they had a revisit-opportunity to review their thinking process by planning ahead the stage to solve the problem and recording it, the omission error of the solving process and the error of wrong conclusions would be dramatically decreased. Moreover, they understood the mathematical concept, principle, and formula and remembered the learning contents extremely well through thinking by themselves in exploration-based activities and by using visualization for the problem and could solve the problem through these pictures besides algebraic expressions.

주가시계열에 대한 확률미분방정식(確率微分方程式)의 모수(母數) 추정(推定)과 자본시장의 운동법칙(運動法則)

  • 이 논문에서는 주가가 확률과정, 즉 확률미분방정식에 의하여 생성되는가를 검정하고 주가의 운동법칙을 규명한다. 일별종합주가지수가 양수의 완전시계열상관을 갖고 있으며, 더욱이 3년 정도의 시차까지 의미있는 시계열상관을 갖고 있음이 발견되었다. 수익률과 가격변화의 시계열상관도 존재하고 시계열은 정상성(定常性)을 갖고 있다. 마팅게일에 의하여 주가가 생성되고있지 않음이 밝혀졌다. 한국증권거래소에서 계산하고 있는 일별 종합주가지수를 포함한 41개 산업별 지수를 사용하여 자본시장의 운동법칙을 규명하기 위하여 가장 많이 이용하고 있는 세개의 확률미분방정식을 검정하였다. 각 주가지수들이 온스타인 울렌벡 브라운 운동과정과 평균회귀과정을 따르지 않고 있다는 것이 발견되었다. 그러나 주가가 편류를 갖는 일반 기하 브라운 운동과정에 의하여 생성되고 있음이 검정을 통하여 확인되었다. 평균회귀과정에 의하여 주가가 생성되지 않는다는 발견은 의외라 할 수 있다. 주가가 온스타인 울렌벡 과정을 따르지 않는다는 것은 주가가 제 1계 정상적 자기회귀과정이 아니라는 것을 의미한다. 일별종합주가지수는 제 4계 자기회귀과정에 의하여 생성된다. 가격변화와 수익률의 생성함수는 제 4계 자기회귀과정이다. 종합주가지수의 제 1계 시계열상관계수는 1이다. 상당히 큰 시차를 갖을 때까지 시계열상관이 대략적으로 1을 유지하고 있다. 따라서 지수가 마팅게일을 따르고 있지 않다. 이 점은 가격변화와 수익률에 있어서도 유사하다. 가격변화, 수익률, 대수수익률의 제 1계 시계열상관이 0.1로 유의적이다. 따라서 수익도 마팅게일 과정을 따르고 있지 않다. 증권가격은 세 번에 걸쳐 구조의 번화가 발생하였다. 구조의 변화가 발생할 때마다 평균가격이 상승하였다. 이와 같은 현상은 장기적 기대가격이 미지일 가능성이 배제되지 않는다. 단기적 기대 주가가 알려진 반면 장기적 기대 주가가 미지라면 평균회귀과정은 장기적 기대주가로 회귀하고 있는 과정이므로 장기기대 주가의 미지성이 평균회귀 과정의 기각을 유도하게 된다. 우리나라의 투자자들은 무위험자산과 위험을 동시에 고려하여 투자활동을 전개하고 있음이 발견되었다. 선형의 효용함수를 갖는 위험중립적 태도의 투자자가 아니다. 위험기피형 효용함수 아래에서 투자활동을 수행하고 있는 합리적 투자자들이라 할 수 있다. 뿐 만 아니라 자신의 평생에 걸친 소비를 소비가 이루어지는 각 기마다 가급적 일정하게 하는 소비행동을 목표로 삼고 소비와 투자에 대한 의사결정을 내리고 있음이 실증분석을 통하여 밝혀졌다. 투자자들은 무위험 자산과 위험성 자산을 동시에 고려하여 포트폴리오를 구성하는 투자활동을 행동에 옮기고 있다.

The Excess and Deficit Rule and The Rule of False Position (동양의 영부족술과 서양의 가정법)

  • The Rule of False Position is known as an arithmetical solution of algebraical equations. On the other hand, the Excess-Deficit Rule is an algorithm for calculating about excessive or deficient quantitative relations, which is found in the ancient eastern mathematical books, including the nine chapters on the mathematical arts. It is usually said that the origin of the Rule of False Position is the Excess-Deficit Rule in ancient Chinese mathematics. In relation to these facts, we pose two questions: - As many authors explain, the excess-deficit rule is a solution of simultaneous linear equations? - Which relation is there between the two rules explicitly? To answer these Questions, we consider the Rule of Single/Double False Position and research the Excess-Deficit Rule in some ancient mathematical books of Chosun Dynasty that was heavily affected by Chinese mathematics. And we pursue their historical traces in Egypt, Arab and Europe. As a result, we can make sure of the status of the Excess-Deficit Rule differing from the Rectangular Arrays(the solution of simultaneous linear equations) and identify the relation of the two rules: the application of the Excess-Deficit Rule including supposition in ancient Chinese mathematics corresponds to the Rule of Double False Position in western mathematics. In addition, we try to appreciate didactical value of the Rule of False Position which is apt to be considered as a historical by-product.

Development of 2D Finite Element Model for the Analysis of Shallow Water Flow (천수흐름 해석을 위한 2차원 유한요소모형의 개발)

  • A finite element model for analyzing surface water flow was developed. Shallow water equation was discretized and solved by Galerkin and Newton-Raphson method. Triangular or rectangular elements can be mixed together to construct meshes. The algebraic equation was solved by frontal method which is very efficient in finite element problem. The developed model was applied to rectangular meandering channel with two bends and transverse velocities and water depth distributions were examined. High velocity was located near the inner bank at the apexes of the bends and velocity distribution was symmetrical about the centerline at the midsection of two bend and super elevation also occurred. Simulation results showed very good agreement with measured data. Another numerical simulation was carried out in mild, steep, adverse and abrupt bottom change slope and channels with weir. 12 water surface profiles of gradually varied flow were correct in terms of hydraulic interpretation.

Information recognition style and Learning method for factorization - Focusing on algeblocks and formula application - (정보인식 유형과 인수분해 학습방법 -대수막대와 공식 활용을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences between two groups of students according to information recognition styles such as visual learners and linguistic learners. Two instructional methods, algeblocks and factorization formula, were utilized to introduce the factorization. Four students were participated for the study, and two of them were visual learners and the other two were linguistic learners based on learning style test. Interviews and the diagnostic tests were implemented before the instructions which were lasted for 6 sessions. After the instructions all the participants were interviewed and the researchers also interviewed them 5 days later. The results of the study were the followings: 1. All the participants regardless of their learning style revealed that algeblocks were helpful in understanding the factorization. 2. Visual learners were more likely using algeblocks, while the linguistic learners were more enthusiastic and proficient in using formula to solve the problems. 3. Five days later, two types of learning style students revealed different tendencies. Visual learners mainly used algeblocks, and linguistic learners were not enthusiastic about using algeblocks and one of them did not use them at all. 4. Five days later, two visual learners could not remember the formula, but linguistic learners could remember the formula in somewhat different level.

The Estimation of the Uplift Pressure and Seepage Discharge under Gravity Dam: Development of a 3-D FDM Model in Heterogeneous Media (중력댐 하부 침투류에 의한 양압력과 누수량 산정 -비균질 3차원 FDM 모형의 개발 및 적용-)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the methodology for the computation of uplift pressure and discharge of the seepage flow under gravity dam. A 3-dimensional FDM model is developed for this purpose and this model can simulate the saturated Darcian flow in heterogeneous media. For the verification of the numeric model, test simulation has been executed and the mass balance has been checked. The error does not exceed 3%. Using the developed model, The uplift pressure and seepage flow discharge under gravity dam has been calculated. The uplift pressure shows the similar pattern, comparing with the result of flow-net method. As the length of grout curtain increases, the uplift pressure decreases linearly, but the seepage flow discharge shows the non-linear decreasing pattern. The coefficients of the formulas in the dam-design criteria have been analysed, and ${\alpha}=1/3$ corresponds to the value when the length of curtain grout is 70% of the aquifer height. The uplift pressure near the pressure relief drain has the big curvature vertically and horizontally. The developed model in this study can be used for the evaluation of the effects of seepage flow under gravity dam.

  • A method for the dynamic analysis of multibody systems undertaking impulsive force is introduced in this paper. A partial velocity matrix based on Kane's method is introduced to reduce the number of equations to be solved. Only minimum number of equations of motion can be obtained by using the partial velocity matrix. This reduces the computational effort significantly to obtain the dynamic response of the system. At the very moment of the impulse, instead of using the numerical integrator to solve the equations of motion, the impulse and momentum principle is used to obtain the dynamic response. The impulse as wall as the reaction force acting on the kinematic joints can easily calculated too.

  • Computer simulation technique has been applied on the various engineering fields to reduce cost and development period. On this paper, we introduce a crane analysis program. Using this program, we can predict reaction force of each part or supporting force of truck crane on a personal computer system with out exclusive knowledge of multi-body dynamics. In order to consider the effect of boom flexibility according to each working condition, flexible dynamic theory is applied to the program. Actual crane model is analyzed on special work condition using this program and the results are compared with those of rigid boom model.
