Composition of Amino Acids in Domestic and Foreign Garlic Cultivars (국내외 재배종 마늘의 아미노산 조성)

  • Correlation and similarity of garlic cultivars was analyzed by measuring the composition of twenty amino acids contents in the bulb and callus from twelve garlic cultivars which were collected from Korea and foreign countries. Arginine and asparagine occupied more than 78% of total amino acids both in bulb and callus followed by glutamic acid, lysine, aspartic acid, valine, glycine, histidine and ornithine in order. Based on correlation coefficients of amino acid composition in the bulb, twelve garlic cultivars were classified into three major groups. Danyang, Euiseong, Seosan, Jeju, Mongol and Turkey cultivars belong to group-I, Namdo, China, Mexico and Nepal cultivars are in group-II, and group-III includes Philippine and Daeseo cultivars. Based on amino acid composition in callus, group-I includes Mongol, Euiseong, Danyang and Seosan cultivars, group-II includes Jeju, Daeseo, China and Namdo cultivars, group-III includes Napal, Mexico, Philippine and Turkey cultivars. Composition of amino acid contained in both callus and bulb is a clear standard to identify northern-type garlic cultivars. Especially the composition of amino acids in callus is more distinctive standard of classification between northern and southern type garlic cultivars than that in bulbs.

Climatic Changes and Geographical Characteristics of Solar Term Temperatures in the Korean Peninsula (한반도 절기 기온의 기후적 변화와 지리적 특성)

  • The twenty-four Solar Terms are Chinese traditional astronomical divisions that describe seasonal cycles of the year. Based on the analyses of meteorological data during 1979~2018, study results showed that the temperatures of the Solar Terms had increased in general in the Korean Peninsula. In North Korea, temperature increases were observed on 21 Solar Terms, and their seasonal mean temperatures were increased by $0.87^{\circ}C$, $1.19^{\circ}C$, $1.45^{\circ}C$, and $0.64^{\circ}C$ on average in spring, summer, fall, and winter, respectively. The duration of summer has lengthened due to the temperature rise in fall, and the magnitude of temperature change was greater in summer compared to winter. As for South Korea, increases in temperature were observed on 18 Solar Terms, and the temperature changes were more pronounced in fall and winter than spring and summer. The Great Snow temperature decreased more than any other Solar Terms during the study period, and this temperature change was observed both in North and South Koreas. The Great Cold, which represents the coldest day of the year, showed a significant temperature increase of $3.08^{\circ}C$, while the Slight Heat had a marginal temperature increase of $0.29^{\circ}C$. The hottest day and the first day of frost tended to come later than the Great Heat and the Frost's Decent. By contrast, the coldest day tended to occur later than the Great Cold in the study area. On average over the entire study period, the climatic fitness of the Great Heat and the Frost's Decent was higher in North Korea, and that of the Great Cold was higher in South Korea, respectively.

Development of Larvae and Juveniles of the Liobagrus mediadiposalis from Daeseocheon Stream in Yeongdukosipcheon (영덕오십천 소하천인 대서천에 서식하는 자가사리 Liobagrus mediadiposalis의 자치어 형태발달)

  • The samples used in this study were collected on two occasions (April 21 and May 16, 2021) from Liobagrus mediadiposalis and spawned egg masses located under rocks in Daeseocheon, Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Fertilized eggs ranged in size from 3.30~3.92 (average 3.57±0.19) mm (n=30), and it took 152~155 hours to hatch at water temperatures of between 17.0 and 20.0℃. Newly hatched larvae immediately post-hatching had a total length of 6.43~6.67 (6.55±0.07) mm (n=30), and were characterized by the retention of a yolk sac and an incompletely open mouth and anus, consistent with the yolk. On the 9 days post-hatching, the postflexion larvae had grown to length of between 11.0~13.8 (12.3±0.70) mm (n=30), and the caudal bone at the tip of the tail was bent upwards at an angle of 45°, thereby indicating the transition to the late larval growth stage. On the 16 days post-hatching, the total length of juvenile had increased to between 15.8~18.2 (16.8±0.77) mm (n=30), and the number of fins reached a fixed number of 8 dorsal, 17 anal, and 8 pelvic fins. On the basis of the findings of this study, we were able to confirm differences in the size of hatching larvae and fin mottle patterns in the early life history of related species.

  • This study was conducted on workers in high risk groups. And the effects of improper equipment wear on the recognition of safety accidents and job exhaustion. In addition, the mediating effect of the recognition of safety accident risk was identified. The results of the analysis are as follows. Because high-risk workers wear inappropriate equipment, emotions are depleted and personalization problems arise. And the mediating effect of the recognition of safety accident risk. Therefore, there is a need to provide generous support to ensure that high-risk workers are able to work properly in hazardous workplaces, so that they can wear appropriate equipment to defend the risks.

  • 1990년대 중반기간(中盤期間)은 남한(南韓) 내부(內部)의 경제선진화(經濟先進化)와 정치(政治) 사회(社會)의 지속적(持續的) 발전여부(發展與否)가 판가름되는 중요한 시기이며, 민족(民族) 전체적(全體的)으로는 남북한간(南北韓間) 민족공동체(民族共同體)의 형성(形成)과 통일(統一)의 실현(實現) 가능성(可能性)이 결정되는 중요한 시기(時期)가 될 것이다. 따라서 민족경제공동체(民族經濟共同體) 형성(形成)을 위한 남한(南韓)의 확고한 대북한(對北韓) 경제정책(經濟政策) 수립(樹立)은 물론 남북한간(南北韓間)의 경제관계(經濟關係) 또한 단기적(短期的) 상업적(商業的) 이익(利益)보다는 장기적(長期的) 관점(觀點)에서 "통일한국(統一韓國)"의 국제경쟁력(國際競爭力)을 제고하고 통일민족(統一民族)의 경제적(經濟的) 복리(福利)를 극대화(極大化)하는 것이어야 한다. 본고(本稿)에서는 최근(最近) 북한(北韓)의 대서방(對西方) 외자유치노력(外資誘致努力) 및 무역확대정책(貿易擴大政策) 등 개방화(開放化) 정책(政策)의 현황(現況)과 문제점(問題點)을 검토한 후, 향후 "남북기본합의서(南北基本合意書)"의 내용(內容)이 구체적(具體的)으로 실현되고, 특히 남북한간(南北韓間) 직교역(直交易)이 정착될 경우 남북한간(南北韓間) 교역확대(交易擴大)와 합작투자(合作投資)를 비롯한 경협(經協)이 급전전될 것으로 예상되므로 남북한(南北韓)의 대(對)OECD 무역자료(貿易資料) 분석(分析)을 통혜 얻은 현시비교우위지수(顯示比較優位指數)(RCA)와 무역특화지수(貿易特化指數)(TSC)를 이용, 남북한간(南北韓間) 교역(交易) 및 경협(經協) 확대(擴大) 발전(發展)의 일환으로서 남북한간(南北韓間) 교역가능품목(交易可能品目) 및 경협유망분야(經協有望分野)를 선정 제시하였다.

Physico-chemical Characteristics of Atlantic and Bora Valley Potato (대서와 보라밸리 감자 두 품종의 이화학적 특성)

  • Comparisons of the physico-chemical characteristics between white Atlantic potatoes and violet Bora Valley potatoes were performed. According to the results, Bora Valley had 7% higher moisture content than Atlantic, but there were no differences in crude fat and crude ash contents. Bora Valley, however, had about 3% less crude protein content than Atlantic. In a vitamin C analysis by HPLC, the Atlantic and Bora Valley potatoes contained 14% and 39% vitamin C, respectively, indicating that Bora Valley contained about twice as much of the vitamin as Atlantic. In a vitamin C analysis by HPLC, the Atlantic and Bora Valley potatoes contained 14% and 39% vitamin C, respectively, The dietary fiber content of Bora Valley was 3.12 g per 100 g higher than that of the Atlantic variety. While Atlantic contained neither glucose nor fructose, both sugars were measured in the Bora Valley potatoes, and there was no difference in sucrose content between the cultivar.

  • Applying diffraction of waves and muffler principle, the theory of macroscopic air ventilation with soundproofing was explained. Soundproofing frequency range can be selected by this method. The sound wave was attenuated at the resonator located between double-layered walls. A soundproof plate was designed and the experiment was processed. There are two air holes of diameter of 5cm and thickness of 8cm on the surfaces per each soundproofing cell. There was a transmission loss of about 25dB and it is more than at least 10dB compared with that of the Comnex technology of wave cancellation by air holes in Japan. Furthermore, there was no soundproof frequency selection in the Comnex technology.

  • A PT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) diagnostic method for potato virus Y (PVY) was developed using primer pair derived from conserved region of coat protein genes of several PVY strains, A 764 bp PCR product was detected from several lines of potato cv. Atlantic. We could prove that the 764 bp DNA fragment was indeed the PVY gene by sequencing analysis. PVY detection method using RT-PCR technique was about tuber tissue.

Magnetic characteristics of Pt/Co modualted films (Pt/Co 인공격자다층막의 자기특성에 관한 연구)

  • We have investigated how the magneto-optical and recording properties of Pt/Co modulated films vary with sample preparation conditions : sputtering at various gas pressures, sputtering with Xe instead of Ar, and etching the buffer layers, etc. The magneto-optical characteristics of Pt/Co multilayers was comparable with those of currently prevailing rare-earth transition-metal alloys(Tb-Fe-Co amorphous films). On a disk of $12{\times}[Pt10.7\;{\AA}/Co2.8{\;}{\AA}]$ multilayer enhanced with 70nm silicon nitride, we have achieved a CNR of 36dB with a reading laser(${\lambda}\;=\;780nm$) power of 2.5-4.5mW for 720KHz carrier at 1.4m/s and the enhanced kerr rotation angle of $1.23^{\circ}$ at 780nm. It is suggested that Pt/Co modulated films clearly are very promising magneto-optical materials for a commercially use.
