An Estimation of the Average Waiting Cost of Vessels Calling Container Terminals in Northern Vietnam (북베트남 컨테이너 터미널에 기항하는 선박의 평균대기비용 추정)

  • Several studies have been completed on the topic of container terminals in Northern Vietnam. Few of them, however, deal with competition in terms of costs related to vessel waiting time or cargo handling. This paper estimates the average waiting cost per TEU for all the container terminals in Northern Vietnam. After average waiting time was first estimated by applying queuing theory, uncertainty theory was applied to estimated vessel daily cost. A simulation was performed to create a series of data representing waiting cost per TEU in relation to the rate of volume handled/capacity of each terminal. Non-linear regression based on this series was used to present a function for the relationship between the average waiting cost of each terminal and the rate of volume handled /capacity.

  • 대기 중 수증기의 불규칙한 분포와 운동은 대기의 굴절율을 시간에 따라 불규칙하게 변화시킨다. 전파 관측 중 대기의 굴절율이 짧은 시간 동안에 크게 변하면 천체가 안테나 주빔의 중앙에서 벗어나는 것처럼 관측되고, 이는 마치 안테나 지향 오차가 커지는 것과 같은 효과를 준다. 이러한 현상을 대기 난굴절(Anomalous Refraction)이라고 한다. KVN 안테나 성능 시험 관측 중 심할 경우 수십초의 시간 규모에서 수십 각초 이상 안테나 지향 오차가 커지는 현상이 관측되어 각 사이트의 대기 난굴절 특성에 대하여 모니터링을 시행하였다. 22GHz와 43GHz에서 KVN 사이트의 대기 난굴절 특성을 파악하기 위하여 2010년 4월부터 2011년 4월까지 각 계절마다 세 사이트에서 시험 관측을 진행하였다. 관측 결과로부터 계절별, 낮과 밤등을 기준삼아 KVN 사이트의 대기 난굴절의 특성을 소개한다.

  • MDDS는 디스크 시스템의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 하이퍼큐브의 각 노드에 디스크 블록들을 분산 저장하며, 인접한 노드에서 분산 저장하고 있는 디스크 블록을 중복 저장하고 있는 디스크 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 디스크 서비스 시간을 분석하기 위한 선행 연구로서 소스 노드에서 생성된 디스크 서비스 요구 메시지가 디스크 서비스를 제공하는 목적 노드에 수신될 때까지의 시간인 전송 시간을 분석한다. 이러한 메시지의 전송 시간을 분석하기 위해 이 메시지가 링크를 통해 전송되지 못하고 대기할 확률인 전송 대기 확률을 분석한다. 이들 메시지의 전송 대기 확률을 분석하기 위해 메시지가 각 링크에서 전송되지 못하고 대기해야 하는 시간인 전송 대기 시간을 분석한다. 또 디스크 서비스 요구 메시지의 전송을 위해 링크가 사용되는 비를 분석하며, 메시지의 전송 대기 확률, 전송 대기 시간, 메시지 전송을 위해 링크가 사용될 비를 이용하여 디스크 서비스 요구 메시지의 전송 시간을 분석한다. Abstract Mirrored Declustering Disk System(MDDS) is the disk system to enhance the performance of disk system for hypercube. In MDDS, each node stores the disk blocks using the declustering technique. And the node also duplicates the disk blocks stored in neighboring nodes. In this paper, as the leading research for analyzing the disk service time, we analyze the transmission time of the disk service request message from the source node to the destination node. To analyze the transmission time of disk service request message, we analyze the probability of blocking the message related to the disk service request. For the analysis of the blocking probability, we analyze the blocking time at the link. We also analyze the rate at which the transmission link is used for transferring the disk service requests. And we analyze the transmission time of disk service request message by using the blocking probability, the blocking time, and the usage rate of link for transmitting the message.

Waiting Time and Sojourn Time Analysis of Discrete-time Geo/G/1 Queues under DT-policy (DT-정책 하에서 운영되는 이산시간 Geo/G/1 시스템의 대기시간과 체재시간 분석)

  • In this paper, we studied a discrete-time queuing system that operates under a mixed situation of D-policy and T-policy, one of the representative server control policies in queuing theory. A single server serves customers arriving by Bernoulli arrival process on a first-in, first-out basis(FIFO). If there are no customers to serve in the system, the server goes on vacation and returns, until the total service time (i.e., total amount of workload) of waiting customers exceeds predetermined workload threshold D. The operation of the system covered in this study can be used to model the efficient resource utilization of mobile devices using secondary batteries. In addition, it is significant in that the steady state waiting time and system sojourn time of the queuing system under a flexible mixed control policy were derived within a unified framework.

The Effect of Waiting Environment of Airline Service on Perceived Waiting Time and Service Quality (항공사 서비스 과정의 대기환경이 지각된 대기시간 및 서비스 결과품질에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to prove that the effect of waiting environment on perceived waiting time and service quality evaluation of airline service procedure. Survey was conducted by questionnaires that were distributed to international airlines passengers who arrived at the airport. Totally, 300 samples were circulated, and 231 samples among those were collected. According to the results, the suggested hypotheses were accepted except the regulation effect of waiting acceptability. Physical environment has positive effect on the airport and boarding gate, and human environment has more positive effect in-flight service procedure. Thus, variables are correlated among waiting environment, perceived waiting time, and service quality evaluation of airline service. Acceptability as moderating variable has no effect due to passenger's pre awareness of estimated arrival and departure travel time certainly. At the end of this study, the results of this research can be conjugable on the airline industry, however, some limitations should be discussed by further study directions.

  • 멀티캐스트는 프로토콜 중에서 가장 널리 쓰이는 것이 PIM-DM 프로토콜인데 이 프로토콜을 사용하여 멀티캐스트를 하였을 때 그룹에 가입하기 위해서 대기하는 시간이 일정시간마다 증가하게 된다는 문제점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해서 일정시간마다 대기시간이 증가하는 원인을 분석하고 그 원인에 대한 해결방법을 제시하였다. 제안된 기법의 성능 향상을 네트워크 시뮬레이션을 통해서 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, We suggest a unified approach for the analysis of discrete-time MAP/G/1 queueing system. Many researches on the D-MAP/G/1 queue have been used different approach to analyze system queue length and waiting time for the same system. Therefore, a unified framework for analyzing a system is necessary from a viewpoint of system design and management. We first derived steady-state workload distribution, and then waiting time and sojourn time are derived by the result of workload analysis. Finally, system queue length distribution is derived with generating function from the sojourn time distribution.

  • In recognition of the significance of waiting time in restaurant management, a quasi-experimental design was employed to measure the gap between actual and perceived waiting time in a real restaurant setting. In particular, this study focused on a comparison of Americans and Koreans to explore gender and culture differences in customer waiting behaviors. The results indicated that compared to American women, Korean women are more tolerant of waiting, and reported perceived waiting time as much longer than actual waiting time. However, there are no gender differences in both cultures. It is anticipated that managers will be able to adjust their operational strategies based on these results.

  • The increasing regular medical check up rate for early diagnosis in disease has increasing sleep endoscopy rate because of reduction with discomfort. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of recovery bed as increasing sleep endoscopy rate using check up time, waiting time & recovery time at a general hospital in Seoul. This study was analyzed using ARENA 10.0 program. At present and as increasing of sleep endoscopy rate 10%, 20% was increased recovery time, waiting time & the rate of bed inflection. So at present, the number of recovery bed has to increase for client's safety and as increasing of sleep endoscopy rate 10%, 20% has to increase 3 and then waiting time decreased in 2 minutes.

  • This study developed an algorithm for real-time signal control based on the detection system that can collect sectional travel time. The signal control variable is maximum queue length per cycle and this variable has a sectional meaning. When a individual vehicle pass through the detector, we can gather the vehicle ID and the detected time. Therefor we can compute the travel time of an individual vehicle between consecutive detectors. This travel time informations were bisected including the delay and not. We can compute queue withdrawing time using this bisection and the max queue length is computed using the deterministic delay model. The objective function of the real-time signal control aims equalization of queue length for all direction. The distribution of the cycle is made by queue length ratios.
