Perspectives of methodology for Heighten Public Awareness of Dangsan Forest as Cultural Contents -Case of Alternative Trail of Jeoji Oreum Connected with Dang in Jeju Island- (문화콘텐츠로서의 당산숲 인식 증진을 위한 방법론 고찰 -당(堂)과 연계시킨 제주도 저지오름 대안 탐방로 모색을 사례로-)

  • Traditional village forests in the Jeju Island represent unique cultural landscape with a history of more than several hundred years as a national cultural asset in Korea. There are 368 Oreums, parasitic volcanoes, and 391 shrines of Dang(Divine place) in Jeju. Currently, the shrines of Dang are damaged by the Jeju Olle trail path and road constructions. It's time for cultural consents to be obtained with locality and globality. And need to produce our own unique contents, glocal cultural contents. In this study, the establishment of trail path of Jeoji Oreum in relation to the Dang in the Jeju Island was investigated. By linking the Dangsan forest to the Jeoji Oreum trail path, it enables the path to contact with traditional cultural landscape. Rural villages in Jeju with the Oreum and Dang are expected to get an international attention as to have traditional cultural landscapes of Korea. It needs to be managed to retain their original form and in connection with the trail path.

  • In Seoul city, The maul-gut(마을굿) called bugundang-gut(부군당굿) have been transmitted by people lived on the banks of han-river. The purpose of this document is to make a study the present meaning of bugundang-gut that have been transmitted in metropolitan city. The bugundang-gut was the official ritual in a government office during the Chosun dynasty. However, the bugundang-gut had been spread along kyunggang(경강, Han-river in Seoul) in the late Chosun period. At that times, the population kyunggang area was increased with the inflow of outside population and the commercial destrict was extended to many district along kyunggang. The main points of this study are as follows. Firstly, I investigate that bugundang-gut have been transmitted by a Seoulite to the backbone. They are the main body of bugundang-gut transmitting from generation to generation. Secondly, I study about nami-janggun-sadangje(남이장군사당제) appointed to seoul city immaterial cutural properties. It is a kind of bugundang-gut. So namijanggun-sadangje was appointed to seoul city immaterial cutural properties, as it was supported by a local autonomous entity. Thirdly, I investigate a plan that can be handed down an offspring in seoul city. We must revise the cultural properties system like that of Japan. Even though many bugundang-gut isn't appointed to cutural propertie except nami-janggun-sadangje, we must recognize their importance and keep a record character of bugundang-gut by investigation in detail. Fourthly, I think that bugundang-gut must be developed a regional public holiday. If it is developed a regional public holiday, many young person can be take part in bugundang-gut.

The Value and Change of the Forest Village Bugundang in Itaewon, Seoul (서울 이태원 부군당(府君堂) 마을 숲의 변천과 가치)

  • This research try to review about individuals' living culture place by record to before process of transition and modify of Bugundang village's forest in Itaewon. A result is as follows. First, Itaewon Bugundang is located in highest site of center building of twon forest, it has been preserve by double fence and taboo subject. Physical element of village forest is a factor which give sanctity of Buhundang. Second, it is connecting Namsan and Yongsan Family Park as green space. Also Itaewon Bugundang isolated from the current residential area. but in the past, the main beliefs and rituals of its area are responsible for a diverse community where public service was strong. Itaewon Bugundang have played a role presenting a local taboos and social norms. Therefore, these elements of the local community have the traditional cultural values. Third, Zelkova and Kalopanax pictus need to be preserved the value by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Fourth, components of Bugundang are built by Hwajucheong, Dangjigi house, seonangdan, monument, fence, masonry and various trees. And the function and role of each of these elements remains as traditional culture. And the structural features of historic architectural properties has the value as a registered cultural properties. Fifth, due to these features, the traditional landscape of Itaewon bugundang play a role succeeding disappearing traditional culture and is worth as a potentially valuable landscape elements. This study has significance to the excavation community tradition disappearing landscape and excavation of candidate new tradition.

La Participation des habitants à la Constitution de Villages Touristiques Insulaires : le Cas de l'Île de Nangdo dans la Ville de Yeosu en Corée du Sud (도서지역 관광마을 조성을 위한 주민참여 방안 -여수시 낭도를 사례로-)

  • La situation de la $r{\acute{e}}gion$ rurale et maritime de la province de Jeollanam-do en $Cor{\acute{e}}e$ du sud se $caract{\acute{e}}rise$ par une relative $p{\acute{e}}nurie$ de population. Le projet 'Ces ${\hat{I}}les$ que l'on aime visiter', $g{\acute{e}}r{\acute{e}}$ par la province de Jeollanam-do, s'articule autour de villages insulaires lieux de bien- ${\hat{e}}tre$ pour viser une augmentation de la population. Il s'agit de $d{\acute{e}}velopper$ le tourisme durable en s'appuyant sur la $beaut{\acute{e}}$ des paysages naturels, l'histoire, la culture et les traditions de cette $r{\acute{e}}gion$ insulaire. Pour cela, la participation active des habitants est essentielle. Cette ${\acute{e}}tude$ a pour but de $r{\acute{e}}fl{\acute{e}}chir$ aux moyens de $d{\acute{e}}velopper$ la participation des habitants en se fondant sur une $enqu{\hat{e}}te$ $men{\acute{e}}e$ dans la campagne. Nous avons mutuellement $analys{\acute{e}}$ entre les moyens de la participation des habitants et l'apanage $d{\acute{e}}mographique$ ${\grave{a}}$ cause de leurs $r{\acute{e}}sultats$ $diff{\acute{e}}rentes$. Voici les moyens de la participation des habitants $fond{\acute{e}}s$ sur la $caract{\acute{e}}ristique$ communautaire: $l^{\prime}activit{\acute{e}}$ $r{\acute{e}}mun{\acute{e}}ratrice$ communautaire; $l^{\prime}am{\acute{e}}lioration$ de l'habitat; les loisirs dans la $r{\acute{e}}gion$. Nous proposons plusieurs exemples pour $d{\acute{e}}velopper$ des programmes $fond{\acute{e}}s$ sur la participation des habitants de $l^{\prime}{\hat{i}}le$ de Nangdo, d'un rite communautaire maritime et des programmes ${\acute{e}}ducationnels$ d'explication touristique.

Case Study on the Space Characteristics Focused on the Dang and Oreum of the Seashore.Inland Villages in Jeju Island (당(堂)과 오름을 중심으로 한 제주도 해안.중산간마을의 공간 특성 사례연구)

  • Traditional village forests in Jeju Island represent unique cultural landscape with a history of more than several hundred years as a national cultural asset in Korea. In this paper, the characteristics and meaning of traditional village forests in Jeju Island was compared with the Dangsan and Bibo forests at inland. There are 368 Oreums, parasitic volcano, and 391 shrines of Dang(Divine place) in Jeju. Life, culture and tradition of rural villages are all connected with the Dang and Oreum in Jeju. It has been found from this study that the village in Jeju were established as a cultural landscape on the surface of natural landscape. The features of traditional villages focused on the Dang and Oreum in Jeju Island were similar to the Dangsan and Bibo forestsat inland villages. The Oreum represents mountain and the Pojedan forest is newly found in Sangmyung-ri. The seashore areas are covered by vaocanic rocks in Jeju and large scale windbreaks are hardly found. The stone tower at Sinheung-ri built for blocking sand movement represents Bibo forest. The special attribute of the Dang in Jeju is that it is close to real life and believers are still remain. In 2009, the Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut ritual was nominated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The shrine of Dang, however, has been degraded fast by construction of seashore road and Jeju Olle trail path. As for the world cultural heritage discussed at international conferences, it is important that there is sustainability on the right to enjoy cultural heritage. Integrated efforts from local residents, local governments and national government are needed to set up a management scheme for the Dang culture. Rural villages in Jeju with the Dang and Oreum are expected to get an international attention as to have traditional cultural landscapes of Korea.
