본 연구에서 검토된 5가지 방법은 Knight and Demetriou (1983)(이하 KD), Wormleaton and Merret (1990)(이하 WM), Cristodoulou (1992), Bousmar and Zech(1999) (이하 BZ) 그리고 Moreta and Martin-Vide (2010)(이하 MM)이다.

  • This study evaluates the shear performance of reinforced concrete beams with electric arc furnace oxidizing slag aggregates generated from iron manufacture. A total of six simple supported specimens were cast and tested in shear. The main test variables were the type of aggregates and the amount of shear reinforcements. The specimens under four point loading had a shear span-to-depth ratio of 2.5 and a rectangular section with a width of 200mm and an effective depth of 300mm. Existing equations to predict the shear strength of the specimens were used in this study. Furthermore, a finite element analysis using shear analytical model was performed to trace the shear behavior of the specimens with electric arc furnace oxidizing aggregates. From the test results, the shear performance of specimens with electric arc furnace oxidizing aggregates is similar to that of specimens with natural aggregates.

  • Shear studs with a diameter of 19mm or 22mm are typically used in steel-concrete composite bridge. For the simplification of details in steel bridges, the convenience of removing concrete slab, and the efficient distribution of shear pockets for precast decks, large studs can be an excellent alternative. Through push-out tests on large stud shear connectors that transcend the limitation of current design codes, static behavior was investigated and comparisons with design equations performed. The shear stiffness of the connectors in elastic range and trilinear load-slip curves were proposed after shear tests on 25mm, 27mm, and 30mm studs. The ultimate slip capacity and ultimate strength of large studs were also evaluated, with the test results revealing conservative values for the design shear strength in Eurocode-4. For 30mm stud shear connectors, the welding quality and bearing capacity of concrete slab should be improved.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the capacities of repaired structural walls with different shear span ratios(1, 2, 3). Experimental tests were carried out. In this study three isolated large-scale wall specimens were made. The original wall specimens were tested until the drift reaches more than 3%. The region of the damaged specimen with the crack larger than 0.2 mm is replaced by new concrete. Also, severly distorted reinforcements were also replaced by new reinforcements. The crack smaller than 0.2 mm was cured by epoxy resin. Because of the space limitation of the laboratory the dimensions of all walls are the same. The shear-span ratio was controlled by the combination of axial and lateral force using the special test setting. All specimens were tested using the incremental quasi static cyclic load until failure occurs. Test results show that strength of repaired walls was almost equivalent to that of original walls. However, deformation capacities of repaired wall specimens are inferior to the original wall specimens.

  • Unlike structures installed on land, the structures installed on the offshore ground must consider long-term cyclic loads such as wave loads, wind loads and tidal loads at sea. Therefore, it is important to analyze the behavior of the ground subjected to long-term cyclic loads in order to design a structure installed on the ocean ground. In this paper, cyclic simple shear tests were performed to analyze the ground behavior for long-term cyclic loads according to the confining pressure, and a three-dimensional design failure curve was prepared that can easily check the failure characteristics according to the confining pressure. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the position of the design failure curve is different depending on the confining pressure even under the same conditions of the cyclic shear stress ratio and the average shear stress ratio, and the number of cyclic loads reaching failure is affected by the confining pressure. From the created 3-D design failure curve under different confining pressure, the tendency and approximate value of the design failure curve according to the confining pressure can be estimated.

  • The ratios of elastic to shear modulus of the structures as laminated composite plates and shells, are very large. They are much susceptible to effect of shear deformation. In order to obtain the accurate solutions of laminated composite plate and shells, the effects of shear strain should be considered for the analysis and design of them. Especially, the more exact solution can be obtained in applying to higher-order shear deformation theory. Therefore, in this paper, the third-order shear deformation theory is used to present the distributions of bending, the characteristics of natural frequencies and the buckling load according to the effects of ply orientation, number of layers for the laminated composite plates and shells with simply supported boundary conditions.

  • In this study we establish a process to predict hardening behavior considering the Bauschinger effect for zircaloy-4 sheets. When a metal is compressed after tension in forming, the yield strength decreases. For this reason, the Bauschinger effect should be considered in FE simulations of spring-back. We suggested a suitable specimen size and a method for determining the optimum tightening torque for simple shear tests. Shear stress-strain curves are obtained for five materials. We developed a method to convert the shear load-displacement curve to the effective stress-strain curve with FEA. We simulated the simple shear forward/reverse test using the combined isotropic/kinematic hardening model. We also investigated the change of the load-displacement curve by varying the hardening coefficients. We determined the hardening coefficients so that they follow the hardening behavior of zircaloy-4 in experiments.

  • Final goal of this research is to establish the database for correlation factors which connects the test and analysis results of shear buckling allowables for composite plate. To accomplish the goal, extensive test and analysis works are required. In this paper, as the first step, a frame-type fixture for shear buckling test was designed and validated through the test and analysis. Final configuration of the fixture were determined via parametric study on the effect of specimen size, cross-sectional dimensions, and number of fastening bolts on the shear buckling load. Results of the study showed the designed frame-type fixture successfully induces the shear buckling of composite plate. However, there were deviations between the test results and analysis results for ideal case under pure shear load, which were mainly caused by the difference in plate sizes for both cases. The difference were larger in the plates with larger hole and simply supported boundary condition. It is concluded from the results that while the designed fixture can be used for the clamped plates with acceptable accuracy, it shows larger difference in the simply supported plates.

  • Sound dispersion in simple fluids is analyzed applying a generalized hydrodynamic ethod for time correlation functions. The effects of shear relaxation on the sound dispersion are examined for liquid argon and a dilute hard-sphere gas. In the case of liquid argon, the dispersion predicted by the theory over quite a wide range of wavenumbers exhibits the combined effects of shear relaxation and structural correlations. The results for a dilute gas indicate that that the inclusion of shear relaxation gives a qualitative improvement of Wavier-Stokes theory.
