Development of Novel Algorithm for Anti-Islanding of Grid-Connected PV Inverter (계통연계형 태양광 인버터의 단독운전 방지를 위한 새로운 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper proposes novel algorithm for anti-islanding of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) inverter. The islanding of PV systems can cause a variety of problems such as deterioration in power quality and electric shock. To prevent islanding, many anti-islanding methods are researched. Typical methods of anti-islanding are active frequency drift(AFD) and active frequency drift positive feedback(AFDPF). However, the AFD has problem that widely exists non diction zone(NDZ). The AFDPF is a method that improves the AFD method and is detected islanding by changing the chopping fraction(cf). However, The AFDPF does not detect when cf is very small and does not satisfy the IEEE Std. 929-2000 when cf is very big. Therefore, this paper proposes novel anti-islanding method that is simple to implement using virtual resister. The anti-islanding method proposed in this paper is compared with conventional method. The validity of this paper is proved using this result.

  • Islanding in a gird connected inverter of wind power generation system may influence a bad effect on equipments or yield safety hazards on grid so it should be detected rapidly and exactly. A passive method to detect islanding is comparatively simpler than an active method but suffers from non detection zone (NDZ). On the other hand, the active method can significantly reduce NDZ by injecting a disturbance into inverter output. To improve the reliability of islanding detection, this paper proposes a hybrid anti-islanding detection method combining the conventional passive method as well as the active method based on novel harmonic injection method using fourier transform. The proposed scheme is fast to detect islanding when NDZ does not exist because it has the nature of passive method. Under NDZ, the active method can detect occurrence of islanding reliably. The effectiveness and validity of the proposed scheme is proved through comparative simulations.

Analysis of Anti-Islanding Schemes using Frequency Drift in Distributed Generation System (분산전원 시스템의 주파수 변동을 통한 단독운전 방지기법 분석)

  • Unintentional islanding results in safety hazards, power quality degradation, and many other issues. Thus, islanding detection of grid-connected distributed generation system is a key function for standards compliance. Many anti-islanding schemes are currently being studied; however, existing anti-islanding schemes used in inverters have power quality degradation and non-detection zone issues. Therefore, this paper analyzes existing anti-islanding schemes by using frequency drift in accordance with both islanding detection performance and power quality. This paper also proposes a new anti-islanding scheme by using frequency drift. Both simulation and experimental results show that the proposed scheme has negligible power quality degradation and no non-detection zones compared with other existing schemes.

  • 본 논문에서는 국내최초로 개발에 성공한 단일용량의120kW급 계통연계형 태양광발전용 PCS에 관한 내용을 설명하고 있다. 120kW급 계통연계형 태양광발전시스템은 22.9kV의 특고압 계통전원에 연계되도록 설계되었으며, 삼상 380V를 22.9kV로 승압 연계하는 2단 절연방식을 채택하였다. 120kW급 PCS는 상용주파수 변압기 절연방식으로 3상4선식 380v 60H2 출력을 가지고 있으며, PCS 내부에 120kVA급 변압기와 리액터를 포함하고 있다. 최대출력점추종(MPPT)제어 기법으로 P&O 알고리즘을 적용하였으며, 3상 IGBT 인버터를 DSP로 제어하였다. 본 논문에서는 120kW급 단일용량 PC를 개발함에 있어, 계통연계 시험, 유,무효 전류제어 시험, 단독운전 검출 및 방지시험, 출력전류의 THD 측정 등의 결과를 보이고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 120kW급에 이어 단일용량 200kW급 태양광발전용 계통연계형 인버터의 개발에 관한 내용을 설명하고 있다. 200kW급 계통연계형 태양광발전시스템은 22.9kV의 특고압 계통전원에 연계되도록 설계되었으며, 삼상 380V를 22.9kV로 승압 연계하는 2단 절연방식을 채택하였다. 200kW급 인버터는 상용주파수 변압기 절연방식으로 3상4선식 380V 60Hz 출력을 가지고 있으며, 인버터 내부에 200kVA급 변압기와 리액터를 포함하고 있다. 최대 전력점 추종(Maximum Power Point Tracking, MPPT)제어 기법으로 P&O 알고리즘을 적용하였으며, 3상 IGBT 인버터를 DSP로 제어하였다. 본 논문에서는 200kW급 단일용량 인버터를 개발함에 있어, 계통연계 시험, 단독운전 검출 및 방지 시험, 발전량에 따른 효율과 THD 측정 등의 결과를 보이고 있다.

A Hybrid Anti-islanding Detection Scheme for Utility Interactive Inverter with Enhanced Harmonic Extraction Capability (향상된 고조파 검출 능력을 갖는 계통연계 인버터의 하이브리드 단독운전 방지기법)

  • When distributed generation such as a wind power system is connected to the grid, it should meet grid requirements like IEEE Std. 1547, which regulates the anti-islanding method. Since the islanding may cause damage on electrical equipments or safety hazards for utility line worker, a distributed generation should detect it as soon as possible. This paper proposes a hybrid anti-islanding method coupled with the active and passive detection methods. To enhance the harmonic extraction capability for an active harmonic injection method, cascaded second-order band-pass filter and signal processing scheme are employed. Simulation and experiments are carried out under the islanding test condition specified in IEEE Std. 1547. Passive over/under voltage and over/under frequency methods are combined with the active method to improve the detection speed under certain condition. The simulation and experimental results are presented to verify that the proposed hybrid anti-islanding method can effectively detect the islanding.

  • 최근 고유가에 따른 발전비용 증가와 교토의정서 발휘로 인한 $CO_2$ 저감의무 등 환경보전이라는 사회적 요구와 맞물려 새로운 신재생에너지 분야에 관심이 고조되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 신재생에너지로 대표되는 풍력, 태양광, 연료전지 등을 이용하는 발전방식은 저용량의 발전으로 대규모 집중형 전원이 아니 전력 수요지 근방에서 설치되는 비교적 작은 규모의 분산형전원(DG;Distribution Generator)으로 배전선로에 직접 연계됨에 따라 배전계통에도 큰 변화가 일고 있다. 분산전원(DG)이 배전계통에 연계됨에 따라 전압변동에 따른 전압조정, 고조파 계통유입에 따른 전기품질, 계통고장시의 분산전원의 단독운전 방지, 고장전류의 분산에 따른 선로의 보호협조 등 다양한 새로운 문제점이 대두되고 있고 이를 해결하기 위해 연구개발 및 신기자재개발 등이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 현재 배전자동화시스템에 적용되고 있는 고장검출 알고리즘은 단방향으로 전기를 공급하던 전통적인 배전방식에서 단순 과전류요소에 의해 고장검출하는 알고리즘을 적용하고 있기 때문에 분산전원이 연계된 양방향 전기공급 배전계통에서는 정확하게 고장구간을 검출하기 어렵다. 이로 인해 고장판단 문제점과 보호기기의 오동작 등으로 정확하게 고장구간을 판단하지 못하여 광역정전이 발생되고 고장복구가 장시간 소요되고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해소하기 위해 양방향 전기공급 배전계통에서 고장이 발생시 고장점으로 유입되는 고장전류의 파형형태를 분석하여 고장 구간을 판단하는 알고리즘을 소개하고자 한다. 또한 다기능 mFRTU(mFRTUmulti-function Feeder Remote Terminal Unit) 의 고장 구간 판단 알고리즘의 신뢰성을 검증하기 위해 실선로에서 실증시험을 시행하였으며, 그 결과를 분석하여 타당성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Shunt active filter can compensate harmonic current of utility results from non-linear loads such as rectifiers, cycloconverters and arc furnaces. It has the same structure as photovoltaic(PV) generation system. So, It was proposed the system that generates PV power and also has active filter function. It is called PV-AF(Photovoltaic and Active Filter) power generation system. Islanding can be occurred in an inverter based dispersed generation system, when the system disconnected from utility and loads are entirely supplied by PV system only. Islanding may result in interference to grid protection devices, equipment damage, and even personnel safety hazards. Therefore, islanding has to be detected and protected. The conventional anti-islanding methods have NDZ(None-Detection Zone) or power quality degradation. But PV-AF power generation system has the function of not only shunt active filter but also anti-islanding method without NDZ. In this paper, a novel anti-islanding method for PV-AF system is proposed and analysed in detail.

Characteristics of Flue Gas Using Direct Combustion of VOC and Ammonia (휘발성 유기 화합물 및 암모니아 직접 연소를 통한 배기가스 특성)

  • The semiconductor process currently emits various by-products and unused gases. Emissions containing pollutants are generally classified into categories such as organic, acid, alkali, thermal, and cabinet exhaust. They are discharged after treatment in an atmospheric prevention facility suitable for each exhaust type. The main components of organic exhaust are volatile organic compounds (VOC), which is a generic term for oxygen-containing hydrocarbons, sulfur-containing hydrocarbons, and volatile hydrocarbons, while the main components of alkali exhaust include ammonia and tetramethylammonium hydroxide. The purpose of this study was to determine the combustion characteristics and analyze the NOX reduction rate by maintaining a direct combustion and temperature to process organic and alkaline exhaust gases simultaneously. Acetone, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), and propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PGMEA) were used as VOCs and ammonia was used as an alkali exhaust material. Independent and VOC-ammonia mixture combustion tests were conducted for each material. The combustion tests for the VOCs confirmed that complete combustion occurred at an equivalence ratio of 1.4. In the ammonia combustion test, the NOX concentration decreased at a lower equivalence ratio. In the co-combustion of VOC and ammonia, NO was dominant in the NOX emission while NO2 was detected at approximately 10 ppm. Overall, the concentration of nitrogen oxide decreased due to the activation of the oxidation reaction as the reaction temperature increased. On the other hand, the concentration of carbon dioxide increased. Flameless combustion with an electric heat source achieved successful combustion of VOC and ammonia. This technology is expected to have advantages in cost and compactness compared to existing organic and alkaline treatment systems applied separately.

A Study on Detection Algorithm of Open Phase Fault in Grid-Connected Transformer for PV System (태양광전원 연계용변압기의 결상사고 검출 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In the case of open phase faults caused by the disconnection of distribution feeders interconnected to a PV system, many problems can occur depending on the core type and wiring method of the grid-connected transformers. Moreover, open phase faults are difficult to detect because the open phase voltage of the existing protection relay (Open Phase Relay (47)) can be maintained, even though a disconnection fault occurred, depending on the wiring method and the iron core type of the grid-connected transformer for a PV system. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel algorithm to detect open phase faults by comparing the currents and phases between the primary and secondary sides of a grid-connected transformer. In addition, this paper presents the modeling of a distribution system and protection devices for detecting open phase faults using PSCAD/EMTDC S/W, and implements a test protection device for detecting open phase faults based on the above-mentioned modeling. The simulation and test results confirmed that the proposed algorithm is useful for detecting open phase faults according to the wiring method and iron core type of grid-connected transformer for a PV system because operation slope and unbalance rate of the primary current exceed the setting value (30[%]) of the protection device.
