There have been recently an increasing number of people working out at home. However, many of them do not have face-to-face guidance from experts, so they cannot effectively correct their wrong pose. This may lead to strain and injury to those doing home training. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a video data-based pose classification and correction system for home training. The proposed system classifies poses using the multi-layer perceptron and pose estimation model, and corrects poses based on joint angels estimated. A voting algorithm that considers the results of successive frames is applied to improve the performance of the pose classification model. Multi-layer perceptron model for post classification shows the highest accuracy with 0.9. In addition, it is shown that the proposed voting algorithm improves the accuracy to 0.93.

In this paper, a real-time prediction technique for gravity disturbances is proposed using a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) model. To select a suitable MLP model, 4 models with different network sizes were designed to compare the training accuracy and execution time. The MLP models were trained using the data of vehicle moving along the surface of the sea or land, including their positions and gravity disturbance. The gravity disturbances were calculated using the 2160th degree and order EGM2008 with SHM. Among the models, MLP4 demonstrated the highest training accuracy. After training, the weights and biases of the 4 models were stored in the embedded computer of the INS to implement the MLP network. MLP4 was found to have the shortest execution time among the 4 models. These research results are expected to contribute to improving the navigation accuracy of INS through gravity disturbance compensation in the future.

Vegetation segmentation in a field color image is a process of distinguishing vegetation objects of interests like crops and weeds from a background of soil and/or other residues. The performance of the process is crucial in automatic precision agriculture which includes weed control and crop status monitoring. To facilitate the segmentation, color indices have predominantly been used to transform the color image into its gray-scale image. A thresholding technique like the Otsu method is then applied to distinguish vegetation parts from the background. An obvious demerit of the thresholding based segmentation will be that classification of each pixel into vegetation or background is carried out solely by using the color feature of the pixel itself without taking into account color features of its neighboring pixels. This paper presents a new pixel-based segmentation method which employs a multi-layer perceptron neural network to classify the gray-scale image into vegetation and nonvegetation pixels. The input data of the neural network for each pixel are 2-dimensional gray-level values surrounding the pixel. To generate a gray-scale image from a raw RGB color image, a well-known color index called Excess Green minus Excess Red Index was used. Experimental results using 80 field images of 4 vegetation species demonstrate the superiority of the neural network to existing threshold-based segmentation methods in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and harmonic mean.
In this paper we propose a new Hybrid learning rule applied to multilayer feedforward neural networks, which is constructed by combining Hebbian learning rule that is a good feature extractor and Back-Propagation(BP) learning rule that is an excellent classifier. Unlike the BP rule used in multi-layer perceptron(MLP), the proposed Hybrid learning rule is used for uptate of all connection weights except for output connection weigths becase the Hebbian learning in output layer does not guarantee learning convergence. To evaluate the performance, the proposed hybrid rule is applied to classifier problems in two dimensional space and shows better performance than the one applied only by the BP rule. In terms of learning speed the proposed rule converges faster than the conventional BP. For example, the learning of the proposed Hybrid can be done in 2/10 of the iterations that are required for BP, while the recognition rate of the proposed Hybrid is improved by about $0.778\%$ at the peak.
This paper is a study to develop a deep neural network (DNN) blood glucose prediction model based on heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) data measured by PPG-based sensors. MLP deep learning consists of an input layer, a hidden layer, and an output layer with 11 independent variables. The learning results of the blood glucose prediction model are MAE=0.3781, MSE=0.8518, and RMSE=0.9229, and the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.9994. The study was able to verify the feasibility of glycemic control using non-blood vital signs using PPG-based digital devices. In conclusion, a standardized method of acquiring and interpreting PPG-based vital signs, a large data set for deep learning, and a study to demonstrate the accuracy of the method may provide convenience and an alternative method for blood glucose management in dogs.

In order to recognize a vehicle license plate, the region of the license plate should be extracted from a vehicle image. Then, character region should be separated from the background image and characters are recognized using some neural networks with selected feature vectors. Of course, choice of feature vectors which serve as the basis of the character recognition has an important effect on recognition result as well as reduction of data amount. In this paper, we propose a novel feature extraction method in which number images are decomposed into linear combination of eigennumbers and show the validity of this method by applying to the recognition of numeric characters in license plates. The experimental results show the recognition rate of 95.3% for about 500 vehicle images with multi-layer perceptron neural network in the eigennumber space. Compared with the conventional mesh feature, it shows a better recognition rate by 5%.
A license plate recognition system consists of image processing in which characters and features are extracted, and pattern recognition in which extracted characters are classified. Feature extraction plays an important role in not only the level of data reduction but also performance of recognition. Thus, in this paper, we focused on the recognition of numeral characters especially on the feature extraction of numeral characters which has much effect in the result of plate recognition. We suggest a hybrid statistical feature model which assures the best dispersion of input data by reassignment of clustering property of input data. And we verify the effectiveness of suggested model using multi-layer perceptron and learning vector quantization neural networks. The results show that the proposed feature extraction method preserves the information of a license plate well and also is robust and effective for even noisy and external environment.
In computer graphics and computer vision research and its applications, various representations of 3D objects, such as point clouds, voxels, or triangular meshes, are used depending on the purpose. The need for animating characters using these representations is also growing. In a typical animation pipeline called skeletal animation, "skinning weight painting" is required to determine how joints influence a vertex on the character's skin. In this paper, we introduce a neural network for automatically performing skinning weight painting for characters represented in various formats. We utilize signed distance fields (SDF) to handle different representations and employ graph neural networks and multi-layer perceptrons to predict the skinning weights for a given point.

Box-office prediction is important to movie stakeholders. It is necessary to accurately predict box-office and select important variables. In this paper, we propose a multivariate time series classification and important variable selection method to improve accuracy of predicting the box-office. As a research method, we collected daily data from KOBIS and NAVER for South Korean movies, selected important variables using Random Forest and predicted multivariate time series using Deep Learning. Based on the Korean screen quota system, Deep Learning was used to compare the accuracy of box-office predictions on the 73rd day from movie release with the important variables and entire variables, and the results was tested whether they are statistically significant. As a Deep Learning model, Multi-Layer Perceptron, Fully Convolutional Neural Networks, and Residual Network were used. Among the Deep Learning models, the model using important variables and Residual Network had the highest prediction accuracy at 93%.
Drifter is an equipment for observing the characteristics of seawater in the ocean, and it can be used to predict effluent oil diffusion and to observe ocean currents. In this paper, we design models or the prediction of drifter trajectory using machine learning. We propose methods for estimating the trajectory of drifter using support vector regression, radial basis function network, Gaussian process, multilayer perceptron, and recurrent neural network. When the propose mothods were compared with the existing MOHID numerical model, performance was improve on three of the four cases. In particular, LSTM, the best performed method, showed the imporvement by 47.59% Future work will improve the accuracy by weighting using bagging and boosting.
