A Study on Energy Conservative Hierarchical Clustering for Ad-hoc Network (애드-혹 네트워크에서의 에너지 보존적인 계층 클러스터링에 관한 연구)

  • An ad-hoc wireless network provides self-organizing data networking while they are routing of packets among themselves. Typically multi-hop and control packets overhead affects the change of route of transmission. There are numerous routing protocols have been developed for ad hoc wireless networks as the size of the network scale. Hence the scalable routing protocol would be needed for energy efficient various network routing environment conditions. The number of depth or layer of hierarchical clustering nodes are analyzed the different clustering structure with topology in this paper. To estimate the energy efficient number of cluster layer and energy dissipation are studied based on distributed homogeneous spatial Poisson process with context-awareness nodes condition. The simulation results show that CACHE-R could be conserved the energy of node under the setting the optimal layer given parameters.

Adaptive relay node search scheme for reducing network fragmentation (네트워크 단절 개선을 위한 적응적 전달자 노드검색 기법)

  • We propose a network node search scheme to address the network fragmentation due to high node mobility in the VANET. VANET is very similar to MANET in that a multi-hop ad-hoc network is configured by wireless communication between vehicles without any network infrastructure. However, high speed mobility, high node density, and frequent topology change induce frequent network fragmentation so that overall network traffic can be increased. In this paper, new broadcasting protocol called an adaptive relay node search protocol is proposed to decrease the network fragmentation. It reduces the network fragmentation and network traffic by researching nodes outside the dangerous area only in case of network fragmentation. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol decreases network fragmentation by up to 39.9% and increase informed rate by up to 41.9% compared to the existing broadcasting protocol.

  • A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) supports a multi-hop wireless network without any prepared base station (BS). The MANET is capable of building a mobile network automatically without any help from DHCP servers for address allocation or routers to forward or route messages. Many routing protocols have been proposed for the MANET, but these specify the most optimized or shortest path from a source to a destination, and they assume that nodes are pre-configured before communication. To make up for this, address allocation algorithms, such as MANETConf [1] and prophet address allocation algorithm [2], have been proposed. Especially, MANETConf proposes address allocation algorithm with duplication address check. In this paper, we present a dynamic node configuration protocol based on 2-tierd hierarchical network architecture for mobile ad-hoc network, modified from [1]. Especially, it reduces the number of broadcast message exchange between nodes when a new node somes into a network, which lessens network overhead, remarkably. This protocol is based on two-tired structure, and it ensures address allocation with simple duplication address defection mechanism.

  • In the IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), network nodes experiencing collisions on the shared channel need to backoff for a random period of time. which is uniformly selected from the Contention Window (CW) This contention window is dynamically controlled by the Binary Exponential Backoff (BEB) algorithm. The BEB scheme suffers from a unfairness problem and low throughput under high traffic load. In this paper, I propose a new backoff algorithm for use with the IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function.

  • In this paper we propose a scalable sensor network system that makes mesh network among the sink nodes to solve the scalability problem of existing sensor network which is caused by multi-hop networking between the sensor nodes. In the proposed system, the sink nodes have the wireless networking ability to communicate with another sink nodes in mesh fashion, and with the monitoring nodes which is located in the local area or internet area. Especially, the system includes L4(Application Layer) routing mechanism that provides subscribe/publish service to serve selective transmission of sensor data to the specific monitoring nodes. The collected sensor data is transmitted to the monitoring nodes when the sensor data is matched with the monitoring node's interesting value.

  • A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is an infrastructureless network that supports multi-hop communication. For the MANET nodes wishing to communicate with nodes in the wired Internet, the global Internet connectivity is required and this functionality can be achieved with the help of the Internet gateway. For the support of reliability and flexibility, multiple Internet gateways can be provisioned for a MANET. In this case, load-balancing becomes one of the important issues since the network performance such as the network throughput can be improved if the loads of the gateways are well-balanced. In this paper, we categorize the load-balancing mechanisms and propose a new metric for load-balancing. Simulation results show that our proposed mechanism using the hop distance and the number of routing table entries as a load-balancing metric enhances the overall network throughput.

  • Self-organizing hierarchical ad hoc network (SOHAN) is a new ad-hoc network architecture designed to improve the scalability properties of conventional 'flat' ad hoc networks. This network architecture consists of three tiers of ad-hoc nodes, i.e.. access points, forwarding nodes and mobile nodes. This paper presents a topology discovery and routing protocol for the self-organization of SOHAN. We propose a cross-layer path metric based on link quality and MAC delay which plays a key role in producing an optimal cluster-based hierarchical topology with high throughput capacity. The topology discovery protocol provides the basis for routing which takes place in layer 2.5 using MAC addresses. The routing protocol is based on AODV with appropriate modifications to take advantage of the hierarchical topology and interact with the discovery protocol. Simulation results are presented which show the improved performance as well as scalability properties of SOHAN in terms of through-put capacity, end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and control overhead.

  • MANET은 전형적인 무선 네트워킹과는 다른 새로운 무선 네트워킹 파라다임으로써 기존 유선 망의 하부 구조에 의존하지 않고 이동 호스트틀로만 구성된 네트워크이다. Ad Hoc망에서 통신을 하기 위해서는 출발지 노드에서 목적지 노드까지 데이터 전송을 위한 라우팅에 관한 문제이다. Ad Hoc망에서는 모든 단말기의 위치변화가 가능하기 때문에 경로설정에 어려움이 따른다. 노드간에 정보를 보내고자 할 때 노트가 인접한 상태가 아니면 정보를 직전 보낼 수 없고 여러 중간 노드들을 거쳐서 정보를 보내는 다중-홉 라우팅 방식을 사용해야 한다. 따라서 중간 노드들은 패킷 라우터의 역할을 해야하는데 무선 통신 자체가 좁은 대역폭과 한정된 채널을 가지고 전송 범위가 제한되는 문제가 있다. 또한 노트 자체의 이동성과 전력 소모 등으로 인한 이탈은 망 위상을 수시로 변화시키므로 노트간에 정보를 전송하는데 가장 종은 경로는 수시로 변경될 수 있으므로 많은 어려움이 따르게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제의 해결방안으로 경로유지 과정에서 Ad Hoc망 내의 노드들은 이동성의 특성으로 인해 현재 사용되는 경로 보다 더 짧고 효율적인 경로가 발생하고 중간 노트가 이동 될 때 새로운 경로로 갱신하여 솔기없는 최적의 경로를 유지할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 ZRP의 IERP에서 감청모드를 통하여 사공중인 경로보다 최적의 경로를 감지하여 새로운 경로로 갱신하는 방법과 중간 노드가 이동하여 경로가 깨진 경우 부분적으로 경로를 복구하는 방법을 제시하여 항상 최적화된 경로를 유지함으로써 Ad Hoc망의 위상변화에 대한 적응성을 높일 수 있도록 한다.   • The goal of the SmartGrid is to maximize energy efficiency by exchanging bi-directional real-time power information with the help of ICT(Information and Communication Technology). In this paper, we propose a "JRS-MS" (Joint Routing and Scheduling for Multi-channel SmartGrid) algorithm that uses numerical modeling methods in IEEE 802.11s based STDMA multi-channel SmartGrid NAN networks. The proposed algorithm controls the amount of data transmission adaptively at the link layer and finds a high data-rate path which has the least interference between traffic flows in multi-channel SmartGrid NAN networks. The proposed algorithm improve transmission performance by enhancing network utilization. By comparing the results of performance analysis between the proposed algorithm and the JRS-SG algorithm in the previous paper, we showed that the JRS-MS algorithm can improve transmission performance by maximally utilizing given network resources when the number of flows are increasing in the multi-hop NAN wireless mesh networks.

  • Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) refer to autonomous networks in which wireless data communications are established between multiple nodes in a given coverage area without a base station or centralized administration. Because of node mobility and limited battery life, the network topology may changes frequently. Selecting the most reliable path during route discovery process is important to improve performance in ad hoc networks. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) by monitoring variation of receiving signal strength is proposed. New metric function that consists of node mobility and hops of path is used for routing decision. For preventing route failure by node movement during data transmission, a new route maintenance named as LRC (Local Route Change) is presented. If the node movement is detected, the routing agent switches path to its neighbor node in LRC. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed routing scheme is superior to previous AODY protocol.
