Opportunistic Multipath Routing Scheme for Guaranteeing End-to-End Reliability in Large-Scale Wireless Sensor Networks (대규모 무선 센서 망에서 종단 간 신뢰성 보장을 위한 기회적 다중경로 라우팅 방안)

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a lot of sensor nodes having limited transmission range. So multi-hop transmission is used for communication among nodes but the multi-hop transmission degrade the end-to-end reliability. Multipath routing and opportunistic routing are typical approaches for guaranteeing end-to-end reliability in WSNs. The existing protocols improve the reliability effectively in small networks but they suffer from rapid performance degradation in large networks. In this paper, we propose the opportunistic multipath routing protocol for guaranteeing end-to-end reliability in large WSNs. Applying multipath routing and opportunistic routing simultaneously is very hard because their conflicting routing features. The proposed protocol applies these approaches simultaneously by section-based routing thereby enhancing end-to-end reliability. Additionally, the proposed protocol guarantees required reliability by the concept of section reliability. The section reliability over a certain level might satisfy required end-to-end reliability. Our simulation results show that the proposed protocol is more suitable for guaranteeing reliability than existing protocols in large-scale WSNs.

Minimizing non-optimal paths in multi-hop ad hoc network adopted IEEE 802.11 PSM (IEEE 802.11 PSM을 적용한 다중 홉애드 혹 네트워크에서 우회경로의 최소화)

  • It is easy to implement a temporary network with a mobile ad-hoc network in which mobile nodes have without using a infrastructure network. They depend on their limited power. Recently, it is a hot issue to save the energy in a mobile ad-hoc network because a mobile nodes have a limited energy. Research of IEEE 802.11 PSM was proposed in a single hop ad-hoc assumption. If IEEE 802.11 PSM is applied to multi hop ad-hoc network, non-optimal paths will be generated by the mobile nodes which didn't receive a message of routing request. Non-optimal paths increase not only a network latency but also energy consumption of mobile nodes. Reconfiguring algorithm of non-optimal paths caused by the mobile nodes which didn't receive a message of routing request is proposed in this paper. A mobile node can overhear the data in his range. A wireless medium is shared by all mobile nodes using the same bandwidth. All mobile nodes lookout the non-optimal paths with these properties of a medium, if non-optimal path is generated, optimal reconfiguring will be accomplished by modifying routing table of itself or sending a request message of routing update to nearby nodes. By reconfiguring the non-optimal paths to optimized ones, network latency and energy consumption was decreased. It is confirmed to ignore the overhead caused by a algorithm presented in this paper through the result of the simulation.

Intra-Session Network Coding for Improving Throughput in Multirate Multihop Wireless Networks (다중 레이트 멀티 홉 무선 네트워크 환경의 처리율 향상을 위한 인트라세션 네트워크 코딩)

  • Intra-session network coding has been proposed to improve throughput by simplifying scheduling of multi-hop wireless network and efficiency of packet transmission. Multi-rate transmission has been used in multihop wireless networks. An opportunistic routing with multirate shows throughput improvement compared with single rate. In this paper, we propose a method of throughput improvement in multi-hop wireless network by using multi-rate and intra-session network coding. We suggest a method to select an local optimal transmission rate at each node. The maximum throughput is evaluated by using linear programming (LP). To solve the LP, we use MATLAB and lp_solve IDE program. The performance evaluation results show that end-to-end throughput is improved by using multirate and intra-session network coding can achieve better throughput than opportunistic routing.

  • In multi-hop wireless networks like Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), nodes often rely on batteries as their power source. In such cases, energy efficient routing is critical. Many schemes have been proposed to find the most energy efficient path, but most of them do not achieve optimality on network lifetime. Once found, the energy efficient path is constantly used such that the energy of the nodes on the path is depleted quickly. As an alternative, the approaches that dynamically change the path at run time have also been proposed. These approaches, however, involve high overhead of establishing multiple paths. In this paper, we first find an optimal multi-path routing using LP. Then we apply an approximation algorithm to derive a near-optimal solution for single-path routing. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme with several other existing algorithms through simulation.

  • The Wireless Mesh Network uses a wireless communication technology with transmission rates similar to that of a cable, which is used as a backbone network. The topology structure is in a Mesh form which resembles an Ad-hoc network, however a metric is needed in order to set the channel and channel methods since the operation intentions and interior motions are different. This thesis proposes a metric(ETR : Expected Transmission Rate) that sets the channel with physical link performance and multi hop transmission capabilities. This metric will also be based on multi channel creation methods and Hop-by-hop routing techniques for an effective multi hop transmission with no loops.

  • This paper focuses in the implementation of mesh router supporting multi-path routing based on IEEE 802.11s. In HWMP of IEEE 802.11s, the single path routing just was defined. So, in this work, we implemented not only the single path routing defined in IEEE 802.11s, but also a multipath routing based on AOMDV which extended the standard. A multi-channel multi-interface technology that can transmit and receive simultaneously and lower bandwidth reduction caused by interferences than a single-channel single-interface was implemented in our mesh router. We also developed an outdoor test bed with the mesh routers. The bandwidth of the mesh router and a real-time video streaming service were verified using the test bed. And, the single path and multipath routing algorithms are also compared. In this test bed, The average TCP bandwidth was 23.77 Mbps and the latency was 2.4 ms in five hops. The test bed could service real-time streaming with an average jitter of 0.547 ms in five hops. The mesh router that used the multipath routing path reduced the path recovery time by 12.73% on average.

  • In recent years, many mobile wireless communication devices and applications have been deployed on the planet. The mobile multi-hop wireless network models appeared to provide means to access to networks where few infrastructure exists. However, the mobile multi-hop wireless networks have weaker points in attacks and intrusions than the wired and one-hop wireless networks. In this paper, the secure routing issues in most mobile multi-hop wireless network models are surveyed in depth. The state-of-the-art technologies and research activities are explained. Finally, the issues and technologies for the secure routing specific to a maritime network model are sufficiently discussed as conclusions.

  • 인터넷에는 다른 하드웨어적 특성을 갖는 다양한 형태의 이동노드가 존재한다. 이러한 특성이 무선통신 과정에 반영되어 다양한 문제가 발생한다. 이동 노드로만 구성된 무선 ad-hoc 네트웍은 이와 같은 특성에 큰 영향을 받게 된다. 기존의 ad-hoc 네트웍 라우팅 프로토콜은 목적 노드에 도달하기 위한 경로의 발견과 관리에 연구가 집중되었으며, 최근 이동노드의 특성을 라우팅 과정에 반영하기 위한 연구가 시작되고 있다. 본 논들은 ad-hoc 라우팅 프로토콜에서 이동노드가 갖는 이질적 특성을 라우팅에 반영하고, 이를 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜에 적용하기 위한 메커니즘을 제안한다. 본 메커니즘은 이동노드의 특성을 이용한 Proactive 방식의 노드가 추가되어 일반 이동노드에게 다중 홉의 경로에 대한 패킷 전송을 대신하며 주변 이동 노드에게 다중 홉의 라우팅 정보를 제공한다. Reactive 방식의 노드는 Proactive 방식의 노드를 발전하고 이용하기 위해 기능을 확장하였다. 이를 통하여 안정적인 경로를 선택 할 수 있으며 ad-hoc 네트워크 망의 확장이 가능하다.

  • The nodes of Ad hoc network are made up of location registration for sending informations and a great number of packet transmissions to maintain routing route among the nodes. Under this environment, a huge number of traffics would be generated as mobility variable occurs more than in physical network. Hence, in this paper, focused on to study the relationship of nodes to analyze the extent of the traffic in order to control the traffics of the multi-hop in Ad hoc.
