Evaluation of Signal Stability of Fiber Optic Sensors with respect to Sensor Packaging Methods in Long-Term Monitoring (장기 모니터링 환경에서 센서 패키징 방법에 따른 광섬유 센서의 신호 안정성 평가)

  • Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are applied in structural health monitoring (SHM) in various application fields because of their ease of multiplexing and capability of performing absolute measurements. Moreover, the packaging methods of FBG sensors accelerate their commercialization rapidly. However, long-term SHM exposes the FBG sensors to cyclic thermal loads, and a investigation is required because it finally leads to the signal instability of the FBG sensors. In this study, the effects of sensor packaging methods two methods are generally used for the FBGs: (bonding both sides of the FBG or bonding the FBG directly on signal stability of FBG sensors are investigated. Tests are conducted on specimens in a thermal chamber, over a temperature range from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$ for 300 cycles. Signal characteristics such as Bragg wavelength, light intensity and full width at half maximum are examined and are compared with those of the FBG sensors, obtained in a previous study under direct bonding conditions. From the comparison, it is observed that the FBG sensors with bonding on both sides of the FBG demonstrate higher signal stabilities when exposed to cyclic thermal loads during long-term SHM. Consequently, it guarantees more effectiveness when packaging the FBG sensors.

  • For a wireless sensor network in general, efficient routing decision is important because wireless connections are not stable, sensitive to external interference, and topology changes dynamically. RPL standard of IETF is not flexible to various environmental changes and causes packet loss and delay due to topological imbalance. Sending packets through multipath can partially remedy this problem. The multipath routing, however, can introduce significant delay overhead by allocating unnecessary timeslots. This paper proposes an RPL using multipath adaptively according to network conditions. We show by simulations that the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the basic RPL and the multipath RPL.

  • 오늘날 우리는 맡은 발전을 거듭한 지능망 서비스를 일상 생활에서 직간접적으로 접하고 있으며. 서비스가 다양화 되고 그 품질이 중요시 되면서 TCAP(Transaction Capability Application Part)의 높은 성능과 안정성에 대한 요구가 증대되어 왔다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 고성능 무중단 TCAP 모델은 원격지에 위치한 다중 TCU(Transaction Capability User)에게 TCP/IP 소켓을 제공하고 폴링(Polling)을 수행하여 TCU상태를 효과적으로 관리하며, 네트워크 장애나 하위 스택 프로세스 문제로 서비스가 지속될 수 없는 경우 이중화 메커니즘을 적용하여 서비스의 중단을 최소화 한다. TCU 어플리케이션 개발자를 위해 이중화에 대한 고려 엄이 TCAP 메시지론 사용할 수 있도록 API를 제공 하여 실제 서비스 적용에 범용성과 편리성을 제공한다. 기존에 개발되어 사용되고 있는 TCAP보다 메시지 처리 및 전송 효율을 높이기 위한 프로세스 구조와 무중단 서비스 제공을 위한 이중화 모델을 설계하고 구현하였다. 설계 및 구현 내용을 검증하기 위해 ITU-T에서 권고하는 적합성 시험을 실시하고, 테스트 베드를 구축 해 성능 시험을 수행 한다.

  • 전기자동차에 대한 연구가 진행됨에 따라 동력원으로 사용되는 대용량 리튬-폴리머 배터리의 운용과 관리에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 다중 셀로 구성된 대용량 리튬-폴리머 배터리는 물리적 화학적 특성에 따라 충전시 셀간 전압 격차가 발생하게 된다. 셀간 전압차는 배터리 용량, 수명, 안정성에 부정적 영향을 주게 된다. 기존 연구들은 각 셀의 특성을 고려하지 않고 충전 결과를 바탕으로 동일한 밸런싱 방법을 적용시킴으로 효율성을 떨어트린다. 본 논문에서는 진화 신경망 기반의 지능형 셀 밸런싱 시스템을 제안한다. 배터리의 특성을 진화 신경망을 통해 학습시킴으로 각 셀 충전시 저항의 크기를 결정한다. 이를 통해 각 셀 특성을 고려한 사전 셀 밸런싱을 수행하였다. 제안하는 방법의 유용성을 입증하기 위해 카이스트 온라인 전기자동차에 장착 예정인 배터리 관리 시스템 기반 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 효과적인 셀 밸런싱이 가능함을 보였다.

ERPM: An Entropy-based Routing Protocol using Mobility in Mobile Ad-hoc Wireless Networks (ERPM: 모바일 Ad-hoc 무선 네트워크에서 이동성을 이용한 엔트로피 기반 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose an Entropy-based Routing Protocol using Mobility (ERPM) for supporting ubiquitous convergence services efficiently in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. The main features that the ERPM introduces to obtain the goals can be summarized as follows. First, ERPM can construct stable routing routes based on the entropy concepts using mobility of nodes. Second, ERPM can quantitatively evaluate the stability of route by entropy concepts using mobility of nodes. Third, ERPM can select the most stable route in the view points of mobility of routes between a source node and a destination node, where multiple paths are available. The performance evaluation of the proposed ERPM performed via simulation using OPNET and analysis shows that the ERPM can support the construction of stable routing routes and increase the transmission ratio of data efficiently.

  • The unscented Kalman filter (UKF), which is widely used to estimate the states of nonlinear dynamic systems, can be improved to realize robust system identification by using multiple sigma-point sets. When using Kalman filter methods for system identification, artificial noises must be appropriately selected to achieve optimal estimation performance. Additionally, an appropriate scaling factor for the sigma-points must be selected to capture the nonlinearity of the state-space model. This study entailed the use of Bouc-Wen hysteresis model to examine the nonlinear behavior of a single-degree-of-freedom oscillator. On the basis of the effects of the selected artificial noises and scaling factor, a new UKF method using multiple sigma-point sets was devised for improved robustness of the estimation over various signal-to-noise-ratio values. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately track nonlinear system states even when the measurement noise levels are high, while being robust to the selection of artificial noise levels.

  • The Purpose of this study is to empirically examine the factors that affect the consumer's buying behavior under the e-commerce environment. In order to achieve this goal, vendor characteristics, securities of transaction, concern for privacy, shopping orientation and perceived channel utilities were used as independent variables. Findings of study indicated that the concerns for abusing individual information, perceived securities of transaction, consumer's recreational orientation, consumer's convenience orientation, perceived distribution channel are the robust predictors of buying behavior of internet users.

  • This paper provides a stability analysis of the transverse vibration of a spinning disk under the torque fluctuation from a permanent magnetic motor. An analytical model has been formulated for a flexible annular disk with its spinning velocity varying harmonically with the same frequency as the cogging torque. A perturbation method based on multiple time scales is applied to perform the stability analysis. Based on expressions for the amplitude and frequency of the parametric excitation, stability boundaries are determined in terms of a nominal spindle velocity, the least common multiple of poles and slots, the magnitude of torque fluctuation and the modal characteristics of. the disk. The stability diagrams predicted by perturbation have been verified numerically using the Floquet theory, which is in good agreement. In conclusion, the fluctuation in spinning velocity is found to affect the stability of the transverse vibration of a rotating disks. The results of this work can be applied to high precision spindle systems such as computer storage systems.

Stability Analysis of Transverse Vibration of a Spinning Disk with Speed Fluctuation (속도변동성분을 갖는 회전디스크의 횡진동 안정성 해석)

  • This paper intends to investigate the effects of speed fluctuation caused by the cogging torque in permanent magnetic motors on the stability of the transverse vibration for a spinning disk. Based on the Kirchhoff\`s plate theory and the assumed mode methods, a set of discretized equations of motion were derived for an annular disk rotating with a harmonically varying speed. Then, a perturbation method using the multiple time scales was employed and stability boundaries were determined explicitly in terms of the magnitude and frequency of speed fluctuation, a nominal sped and the modal characteristics of the disk. It is found that parametric resonance occurs at several speed ranges and a single mode or a combination of two modes are involved to cause instability. It is also observed that unstable regions become broadened as the spinning speed increases or two modes are combined in parametric instability. As numerical simulations, stability analysis of a conventional CD-ROM drive was performed. Results of this work can e used as guidelines for motor design and operations with low vibration.

Characteristics of Multilayer Coated $Si_3N_4-TiC$ Ceramic (다중 코팅된 $Si_3N_4-TiC$ 세라믹의 특성)

  • TiC coating formed on $Si_3N_4-TiC$ composite ceramic by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has an improved microstructures, better thermal shock resistance and interfacial bonding than TiN coating does. TiN coating formed by CVD, however, has lower friction coefficients against steels and better chemical stability. The experimental results indicate that the coated insert is superior to the uncoated one in flank and crater wear resistance. And the multilayer coating shows an improved wear resistance than the monolayer coating.
