Signal processing algorithm for converting variable bandwidth in the multiple channel systems (다중채널 시스템에서 가변 대역폭 절환을 위한 신호처리 알고리즘)

  • The algorithm of multiple channel signal processing requires the flexibility of variable frequency band, efficient allocation of transmission power, and flexible frequency band reallocation to satisfy various service types which requires different transmission rates and frequency band. There are three methods including per-channel approach, multiple tree approach, and block approach performing frequency band reallocation method by channelization and dechannelization in the multiple-channel signal. This paper proposes an improved per-channel approach for converting the frequency band of multiple carrier signals efficiently. The proposed algorithm performs decimation and interpolation using CIC(cascaded integrator comb filter), half-band filter, and FIR filter. In addition, it performs filtering of each sub-channel, and reallocates channel band through FIR low-pass filter in the multiple-channel signal. The computer simulation result shows that the perfect reconstruction of output signal and the flexible frequency band reallocation is performed efficiently by the proposed algorithm.

Trellis-coded $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM with Sliding Multiple Symbol Detection (흐름 다중 심벌 검파를 사용한 트렐리스 부호화된 $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM)

  • In this paper, we propose $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK and trellis-coded $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM techniques by applying $\pi$/4 shift QPSK to trellis-coded modulation (TCM), and performing signal set expansion and set partition correspondingly based on phase difference. In our Viterbi decoding algorithm, up to L phase differences from successively received symbols are employed in the new branch metrics. Such sliding multiple symbol detection (SMSD) method provides improved bit-error-rate (BER) performance in the differential detection of the trellis-coded $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM signals. The performance improvements are achieved for different communication channels without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency. It thus makes the proposed modulation and sliding detection scheme more attractive for power and band-limited systems.

Multistage Parallel Nulling-Partial PIC Receiver for Downlink MIMO MC-CDMA Systems (하향링크 다중 안테나 MC-CDMA 시스템을 위한 다단계 병렬 널링 및 병렬 부분 간섭 제거 수신기 설계)

  • We propose multistage parallel nulling (MPN) partial parallel interference cancellation (PPIC) receiver for downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier (MC)-code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Though the V-BLAST is a popular MIMO receiver, it shows error floor for multiuser downlink MIMO MC-CDMA systems. The proposed MPN-PPIC receiver does not produce error floor for multiuser case, and achieves substantial performance gains with multistage processing. For single user case, the proposed method also surpasses the V-BLAST receiver with multistage processing for MIMO MC-CDMA systems with chip level interleaving. The system performance of the proposed MPN-PPIC receiver is evaluated through computer simulations.

Design and fabrication of PSK carrier recovery circuit using multi-layer coupled line (다층형 결합 선로를 이용한 반송파 복원 회로 설계 제작)

  • The PSK carrier signal recovery circuit using multi-layer coupled line was analyzed and designed. The fabricated carrier recovery 6 port element with multi-layer coupled line structure gets the simple architecture. It is possible to implement the carrier signal recovery circuit of the same structure with the multi-layer six port phase correlator of the direct receiver front-end. Based on the analysis of RML carrier recovery circuit using the multi-layer coupled line 6-port phase correlator, the multi-layer coupled line carrier signal recovery structure for multi-mode coherent demodulation was proposed. The fabricated multi-layer coupled line carrier signal recovery circuit for quadrature phase shift-keying shows a good carrier signal characteristic with a constant phase and phase error below ${\pm}3o$.

  • In OFDM system, frequency-domain sub-carriers of a symbol generally consist of data sub-carriers and scattered pilot sub-carriers and in the receiver, channel is estimated through time-axis interpolating pilot sub-carriers of several OFDM symbols. However, time-axis interpolation fails to keep track of rapid channel variation caused by fast moving receiver. Although symbol by symbol channel estimation without time-axis interpolation enables fast estimation, the performance is severely degraded for a long delay spread channel in a single frequency networks (SFNs) because of insufficient pilot sub-carriers. In this paper, a channel estimation scheme for OFDM receiver in a fast mobile SFN channel is proposed. The proposed scheme is applied to DVB-T receiver to improve the Doppler mobile performance in SFN channel.

Detection Probability Improvement of Bias Error of GPS Carrier Measurement using Baseline Constraint (기저선 제한조건을 이용한 GPS 반송파 바이어스 오차의 검출확률 향상)

  • A method is suggested for validating the existence of bias error on GPS carrier measurement. The baseline constraint is used as an addition measurement, which augments the original measurement equation. The detection probability is calculated on both cases. The first case is using GPS carrier measurement only, the second case is using GPS carrier and a baseline constraint. The improvement of the detection probability is shown, and the advantage of using baseline constraint is described statistically, the results of the simulation is shown and analyzed.

Performance Evaluation of High-performance MIMO-OFDM System using Carrier Interferometry Codes in Frequency Selective Fading Channels (주파수 선택적 페이딩 채널에서 반송파 간섭 부호를 이용한 고성능 MIMO-OFDM 시스템의 성능분석)

  • MIMO system takes advantage of the spatial diversity obtained by spatially separated antennas for high- performance and high-capacity broadband wireless access. In this paper, we propose Carrier Interferometry coded MIMO-OFDM system (MIMO-CI/OFDM) which provides frequency and spatial diversity. One combined diversity gains featly improve the performance of OFDM systems. To perform a performance analysis, we have used SPW platform that provides an easy tool to analyze the performance. The results show that the performance of MIMO-CI/OFDM shows an approximately 4dB gain over the MIMO-OFDM even in highly frequency selective fading channels.

Blind MOE-PIC Multiuser Detector for Multicarrier DS-CDMA Systems (다중 반송파 DS-CDMA 시스템을 위한 블라인드 MOE-PIC 다중사용자 검출기)

  • Frequency selective fading occurs due to the Doppler Effect in mobile communication systems. The performances of the systems are rapidly reduced due to effect of multiuser interference under frequency selective channels at DS-CDMA systems. To overcome these problems, we adopted the multi-carrier modulation techniques, and it is able to solve the frequency selective channel effects by means of these modulation techniques, and interference problems due to multiuser access are solved by means of multiuser detection techniques. In this paper, we proposed the blind MOE/PIC multiuser detection method which is composed of both the blind multiuser detection technique and parallel interference canceller. Thus, simulation results show that the proposed method performs better than conventional methods.

Performance Evaluation of CI/OFDM using Carrier Interferometry (반송파간섭을 이용한 CI/OFDM 시스템 성능분석)

  • A new OFDM scheme, CI/OFDM using the interference of multiple carriers, is introduced. CI/OFDM system uses the N orthogonal carriers equally spaced in frequency, but each information bit is simultaneously modulated onto all carriers. The performance of CI/OFDM systems in a typical frequency selective fading channel environment, are analyzed. And it is shown that the frequency diversity benefits of this system result in significant performance enhancements relative to traditional OFDM system without causing bandwidth expansion.

Sliding Multiple Phase Differential Detection of Trellis-coded MDPSK-OFDM (흐름 다중 심벌 검파를 사용한 트렐리스 부호화된 MDPSK-OFDM)

  • In this paper, the Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics of the squared Euclidean distance with multiple order phase differences is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the trellis-coded MDPSK-DFDM. The proposed Viterbi decoder is conceptually same as the sliding multiple phase differential detection method that uses the branch metric with multiple phase differences. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbi decoder improves BER peformance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency. Also, the proposed algorithm can be used in the single carrier modulation.
