A Study on the Optimal Wireless Resource Allocation for the Access and Relay Zones of Downlink in a 2-hop Cellular Relay System based on IEEE802.16j (IEEE802.16j 기반의 2-홉 셀룰러 중계시스템에서 하향링크 접근영역과 중계영역에 대한 최적 무선자원 할당방법 연구)

  • In this paper, we evaluate the system throughput and the method of optimal wireless resource allocation for the access zone (AZ) and relay zone (RZ) in downlink when the cell coverage is extended using the non-transparent Relay Station (RS) in a 2-hop cellular relay system based on IEEE802.16j, which uses the OFDMA-TDD structure. For the analyses, we first introduce the MAC (Media Access Control) frame structure in the non-transparent mode, then we investigate the interfering elements in both AZ and RZ for the network devices such as the Mobile Station (MS) and RS. Through computer simulation, we analyze the cell coverage extension and system throughput in terms of the distance between Base Station (BS) and RS, then we present the amount of the optimal allocation of wireless resource for the AZ and RZ in downlink using our results.

A Study on the Efficient Interference Cancellation for Multi-hop Relay Systems (다중 홉 중계 시스템에서 효과적인 간섭 제거에 관한 연구)

  • The transmitted signal from a source is transmitted to a destination through wireless channels. But if the mobile destination is out of the coverage of the source or exists in the shady side of the coverage, the destination can not receiver the signal from the source and they can not maintain communication. In order to overcome these problems, we adopt relays. A system employing relays is a multi-hop relay system. In the multi-hop relay system, coverages of each relay that is used for different systems can overlap each other in some place. When there is a destination in this place, interference occurs at the destination. In this paper, we study on the efficient co-channel interference (CCI) cancellation algorithm. In the proposed strategy, CCI is mitigated by zero forcing (ZF) or minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers. Moreover, successive interference cancellation (SIC) with optimal ordering algorithm is applied for rejecting CCI efficiently. And we analyzed and simulated the proposed system performance in Rayleigh fading channel. In order to justify the benefit of the proposed strategy, the overall system performance is illustrated in terms of bit error probability.

Throughput Scaling Law of Hybrid Erasure Networks Based on Physical Model (물리적 모델 기반 혼합 소거 네트워크의 용량 스케일링 법칙)

  • The benefits of infrastructure support are shown by analyzing a throughput scaling law of an erasure network in which multiple relay stations (RSs) are regularly placed. Based on suitably modeling erasure probabilities under the assumed network, we show our achievable network throughput in the hybrid erasure network. More specifically, we use two types of physical models, a exponential decay model and a polynomial decay model. Then, we analyze our achievable throughput using two existing schemes including multi-hop transmissions with and without help of RSs. Our result indicates that for both physical models, the derived throughput scaling law depends on the number of nodes and the number of RSs.

  • 본 논문에서는 폐회로 다중 안테나 송수신 (closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output) 기법을 사용하는 적응형 협동 다중 홉 중계 시스템을 제안한다. 중계기와 기지국 사이의 이동성이 낮기 때문에, 폐회로 다중 안테나 송수신 기법은 개회로 다중 안테나 송수신 기법보다 높은 다이버시티 이득을 얻을 수 있다. 이 때, 한 개 이상의 중계 터미널들은 기지국으로 전송을 공유하고 프리코딩 가중치벡터를 피드백하기 위해 하나의 협동 그룹에 포함되어야 한다. 피드백 비트의 증가로 인한 전송량 감소를 최소화 하기 위해 코드북 기반의 최대비 전송 기법을 사용하여 비트백 비트수를 제한한다. 기지국은 협동 중계 그룹 중에서 채널 상태가 가장 좋은 중계기를 선택하고, 프리코딩을 위한 인덱스 값을 중계기에 피드백한다. 이러한 중계 시스템을 위해 피드백 형태와 선택 프로토콜 시나리오를 제안하고, 모의실험을 통해 중계기 선택에 따른 성능을 확인한다.

Comparison of Outage Probability Between Best-relay 2-hop Relaying and 3-hop Relaying (두 릴레이가 존재할 때 삼중 홉 중계와 베스트 릴레이 선택 후 이중 홉 중계 방식의 아웃티지 확률 비교)

  • In this paper, we investigate decode-and-forward (DF) relaying systems with a direct link between the source and the destination node. The objective of this paper is to determine the better relaying strategy between 3-hop DF relaying and dual-hop DF relaying with the best relay selection. Assuming Rayleigh fading channels, we present closed-form outage probability of the 3-hop relaying and the dual-hop relaying, respectively, and compare the performances by numerical investigation. Numerical results show that if the channel is poor, the outage performance of the 3-hop relaying is better than the dual-hop relaying.

  • Distributed relay scheme for wireless ad hoc multi-hop multicast network composed of low-power and low-complexity wireless devices with high density is proposed. The proposed relay scheme is shown to be better than flooding, which is the distributed relay scheme applied to ZigBee, in the outage probability and the multicast transmission rate by simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose an opportunistic data relay scheme in narrowband multihop combat radio networks. Narrowband networks have physical restrictions on high-speed transmission. Furthermore, the topology changes dynamically due to the jamming of the enemy, signal interference between friendly forces, and movement of network entities. Therefore, the traditional relay scheme that collects topology information and calculates a relay path before transmission is unsuitable for such networks. Our proposed scheme does not collect topology information and transmits data opportunistically. The scheme can cause unnecessary data relaying that is not related to data delivery to the destination node. However, for small networks, the effect of increasing network throughput by not gathering topology information is much greater than the effect of reducing throughput by unnecessary data relays. We demonstrate the performance superiority of the proposed scheme through simulation in the worst case of network topology.

Effect of Random Node Distribution on the Throughput in Infrastructure-Supported Erasure Networks (인프라구조 도움을 받는 소거 네트워크에서 용량에 대한 랜덤 노드 분포의 효과)

  • The nearest-neighbor multihop routing with/without infrastructure support is known to achieve the optimal capacity scaling in a large packet-erasure network in which multiple wireless nodes and relay stations are regularly placed and packets are erased with a certain probability. In this paper, a throughput scaling law is shown for an infrastructure-supported erasure network where wireless nodes are randomly distributed, which is a more feasible scenario. We use an exponential decay model to suitably model an erasure probability. To achieve high throughput in hybrid random erasure networks, the multihop routing via highway using the percolation theory is proposed and the corresponding throughput scaling is derived. As a main result, the proposed percolation highway based routing scheme achieves the same throughput scaling as the nearest-neighbor multihop case in hybrid regular erasure networks. That is, it is shown that no performance loss occurs even when nodes are randomly distributed.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive modulation based incremental hop selection scheme which improves network coverage in half-duplex multi-hop networks. The proposed scheme guarantees wide coverage through the operation of multi-hop network while preventing spectral efficiency loss due to the usage of multiple time phases in the half-duplex protocol. Also, we evaluate the average spectral efficiency performance over Nakagami-m fading channel. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes and the derived evaluation is valid.

  • Filterbanks have been widely used in the field of multi-channel signal processing for their simple efficient implementation architectures. Especially, the polyphase DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) filterbank is the most preferred filterbank for the uniform spaced multi-channel processing due to its simplicity. In frequency hopped communication systems, however, the use of the polyphase DFT filterbank is limited due to its undesirable transient response from hop-to-hop transitions. In this paper, the transient response of polyphase DFT filterbanks in the hop-to-hop transition was analyzed, and the efficient methods to overcome such a problem was proposed. Simulation results showed that the proposed schemes could resolve this issue efficiently.
