A Study on Precise Positioning with Doppler Measurements for Ground Transportation System (도플러 측정치를 이용한 육상교통 환경에 적합한 정밀 측위 기법 연구)

  • Ground Transportation is one of the most required field that users need positioning information Especially, more precise position can make smart traffic management possible and bring convenience to users. By advanced wireless network, cars can receive the GPS information of reference station in any tim e and any where. Thus land vehicles are possible to process precise positioning. In general, for precise positioning code and phase measurements are used. But receivers provide not only code and phase measurements but also doppler measurements and Doppler is direct measurement of velocity. In this paper, because velocity is very important information required in Ground Transportation, precise positioning for Ground Transportation is studied. For precise positioning RTK(Real-Time Kinematic) was used and double differenced doppler measurements were added, As a Result, positioning error by multipath and cycle slip was soften. However there still remained Positioning error. Thus smoothing technique using doppler measurement in position domain is used for softening positioning error.

Covariance-based source localization performance improvement for underwater ultra-short baseline systems (공분산 기반 수중 ultra-short baseline 시스템의 위치 추정 성능 개선 기법)

  • Since Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) uses an array with narrow sensor spacing, precise synchronization is required to improve source localization performances. However, in the underwater environment, synchronization errors occur due to relatively strong noise and underwater acoustic channels such as multipath and Doppler, which deteriorates the source localization performances. This paper proposes a covariance-based synchronization compensation method to improve the source localization performances of the underwater USBL systems. The proposed method arranges the received signals through cross-correlation and calculates the covariance of the arranged signals. The synchronization error is related to the phase difference in the covariance. Thus, the phase difference is estimated as the covariance and compensated. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed method has better source localization performances than the conventional cross-correlation method.

  • This paper describes a new program called GPS_QC needed to check the quality of GPS observations before post-processing so that the surveyors can be improved the precision of GPS data analysis. The GPS_QC was designed to calculate the quality control (QC) parameters such as data gaps, cycle slips, low elevation angle, inonspheric delay, multi-path effects and DOP etc, within the period of GPS observation. It can be used to read and calculate the QC parameters from RINEX files. This program gives users brief statistics, time series plots and graphs of QC parameters. The GPS_QC can simply be performed the quality checking of GPS data that was difficult for surveyors in the field. It is expected that we can be improved the precision of positioning and solved the time consuming problem of GPS observation.

Underwater Acoustic Communication Using Nonlinear Chirp Signal (비선형 chirp 신호를 이용한 수중음향통신)

  • This paper presents an underwater acoustic communication with nonlinear chirp modulation. The information is carried by the carrier amplitude, frequency or phase in the most common underwater acoustic communications. However, the proposed method includes the information within frequency variation of carrier wave for a symbol. Especially, as carrier wave the hyperbolic frequency modulated signal, one of the nonlinear chirp signal, is used and it is robust in the Doppler channel. The proposed method was analyzed and compared to conventional method by simulation. When the doppler shift existed, the error probability of the proposed method is reduced by 5~12 % than conventional method with linear frequency modulated signal. Sea trial was performed to analyze the performance of the proposed method.

Prediction of movie audience numbers using hybrid model combining GLS and Bass models (GLS와 Bass 모형을 결합한 하이브리드 모형을 이용한 영화 관객 수 예측)

  • Domestic film industry sales are increasing every year. Theaters are the primary sales channels for movies and the number of audiences using the theater affects additional selling rights. Therefore, the number of audiences using the theater is an important factor directly linked to movie industry sales. In this paper we consider a hybrid model that combines a multiple linear regression model and the Bass model to predict the audience numbers for a specific day. By combining the two models, the predictive value of the regression analysis was corrected to that of the Bass model. In the analysis, three films with different release dates were used. All subset regression method is used to generate all possible combinations and 5-fold cross validation to estimate the model 5 times. In this case, the predicted value is obtained from the model with the smallest root mean square error and then combined with the predicted value of the Bass model to obtain the final predicted value. With the existence of past data, it was confirmed that the weight of the Bass model increases and the compensation is added to the predicted value.

  • The selection of ground stations is one of the essential process of IGS (International GNSS Service) products. High quality GPS data should be collected from the globally distributed ground stations. In this study, we investigated an effect of ground station network selection on GPS satellite ephemeris. The GPS satellite ephemeris obtained from the twelve ground station networks were analyzed to investigate the effect of selection of ground stations. For data quality check, the observations, the number of cycle slips, and multipath of pseudoranges for L1 and L2 were considered. The ideal network defined by Taylor-Karman structure and SOD (Second Order Design) were used to obtain the optimal ground station network.

  • In land mobile communications, multipath fading is one of the key factors which affect the system performance. Some extensive studies have been carried out to improve the degraded performance under this fading channels. The PSAM channel compensation method using channel fading estimation is widely used and TCM is a combined coding and modulation technique that has been shown to provide significant coding gain without increasing the transmission bandwidth. In this paper, we analyze the performance of PSA-TC-8PSK which combines PSAM and TCM over frequency nonselective fading channels. To estimate channel fading, Wiener filter which minimizes error variance is used as compensation method and we analyze the affects on the system performance of the number of filter taps, period of the pilot symbol frame, and the Doppler frequency. In addition, we consider the symbol timing recovery circuit which can be implemented in the full-digital method and analyze the effects of symbol timing error on the system performance.

  • In UMTS terminal modem uses 3 step search procedure for initial cell search, which comprises 1) slot synchronization, 2) code group identification and frame synchronization, and 3) scrambling-code identification. The performance of initial cell search procedure depends on search parameters like observation time and threshold. The purpose of this paper is to get the optimal observation time and threshold of each step for minimum mean acquisition time. In this paper we induce mean detection time of each step and mean acquisition timefrom the model of 3 step search procedure using state diagram. Also we propose initial cell search algorithm which utilize window search method against initial oscillator error, and select an appropriate observation time and threshold of each step by the analysis of simulation and induced result. It is shown that the mean acquisition time in multipath fading channel can be shorter than 500ms by using the determined observation time and threshold of each step.

  • In the case of a small UUV operating an active synthetic aperture sonar, various velocity disturbances may occur on the path due to the influence of external underwater environment, and this causes phase errors in coherent synthetic aperture processing, which has a large influence on the detected image. In this paper, when a periodic sinusoidal velocity disturbance is generated in the traveling direction, the phase generated by the round trip slope range at each position is estimated the cross correlation coefficient for multiple received signals and compensated the position variation in the overlapped DPC by the average value within the maximum allowable width. Through simulations, it has been confirmed that the images degraded by the velocity disturbance amplitude and fluctuating frequency of the UUV are removed from the false targets and the performance of azimuth resolution is improved by the proposed phase compensation method.

  • The study is the open area keeping a few visible satellites and the urban area covered with the high building, an electric pole were chosen for evaluation of accuracy of satellite positioning. First, suggest the validity of RTK-GPS, RTK-GPS/GLONASS and compared the accuracy with that of the classical surveying method. As a result. In urban area, in case of real time kinematic positioning when compare between the method combined by GPS/GLONASS and by GPS alone the result of GPS/GLONASS - combination more excellent. And in open ana positioning combined GPS/GLONASS was more excellent than GPS alone in both real time differential and real time kinematic. So, RTK-GPS, RTK-GPS/GLONASS contribute to the digital mapping of Basic map and the existed map necessary for the building of PBLIS to the computerization of cadastral map in the effectiveness in time and in cost and hereafter the combined GPS/TS is expected to contribute to the development of NGIS, Re-investigation of a land register, the execution drawing on site.
