Characteristics and Implications of Teacher Education System in Canada (캐나다 교원양성체제의 특징과 시사점)

  • This study examines the characteristics of teacher education system and professional standards of teachers in Canada through analysis of the current teacher education curriculum and salary grids of teachers in Canada. As a result, the following characteristics were found. First, contents and theories acquired during the course of teacher education are connected to the actual practice to increase the site-compatibility. Second, professional standards of teachers is rather holistic, than detailed and systematic. Based on the findings, the following implication can be drawn. To enhance the site compatibility of teachers in the Republic of Korea, it is requisite to build a persistent, and cooperative relationship among the faculty members of teacher education program, the members of the community, and supervisor teachers of practicum schools. Also, it is necessary to come up with a system that directly connects the professionalism of the teachers and the salary grids, as the salary of teachers are adjusted according to the completion of degree or courses, reflecting the professionalism.

  • 오늘날 화장품 산업은 역동적으로 끊임없이 변화하고 있다. 화장품은 한 사회 구성원들의 다양한 욕구, 가치관 및 생할양식에 영향을 미치며 심지어는 국가의 정치적 기후나 경제적인 상태를 나타내는 지표역할을 담당하기도 한다. 즉, 화장품 과학은 예방의학, 건강과학이라는 차원에서 뿐만 아니라 미적인 차원에서 새로운 상품개발이 진행되어갈 것이다. 지금 우리는 21세기를 향하여 1990년대의 중반기에 들어섰다. 80년대는 물질 문명의 중심으로 생활의 질의 풍요로움을 추구하였으나 90년대는 소비자 우선의 풍요로움을 향수하는 시대가 되었다. 또한 여성이 사회진출, 고령화의 급속한 진전, 고 학력화, 개인의 가치관 존중 및 많은 생활패턴의 변화가 마음의 풍요로움을 구하는 사람들이 늘어나고 물질적 의존도로 부터의 탈피가 크게 강조되고 있다. 이에 마음의 풍요로움을 창조하여 연출하는 화장품산업의 역할이 고기능성에 의한 부가가치를 높이고 마음의 풍요로움을 지원하기 위한 연구개발에 중점을 두고 진행되어 가고 있다. 화장품을 여성들의 치장이라고 하는 주체적 행위에 도움을 주는 하드웨어라고 한다면 소비자의 마음은 소프트웨어로써 소비자 입장에서 만족할 수 있는 전략을 구사하는 아이디어가 있어야 하는데 그에 상응하는 대책으로 스킨케어를 들 수 있다. 스킨케어란 병든 피부를 제외한 여러 가지 유형의 피부를 화장품과 미용기기를 이용하여 그에 맞게 예방관리 하여 건강하고 아름답게 보호 유지하는 전문 분야이다. 즉, 스킨케어는 화장품 이용을 통하여 미래의 소비자들의 다양한 비용 욕구 및 소망에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 소프트웨어라고 할 수 있다., 또한 스킨케어는 화장품 뿐만 아니라 신체적 접촉을 통하여 안위를 제공하는 수단으로 단순한 피부손질이라는 문제에 그치지 않고 접촉을 통해 마음과 신체의 균형을 꾀하는 생명현상의 심층과 연관되는 중요한 의미가 있다. 스킨케어는 불어로 Soin Esthetique 라고 하는데 어원을 보면 손질, 처치, 보살핌 그리고 배려를 의미한다. 지금으로부터 200년전 독일의 미학자인 Baumgarten이 미는 인간에게 만족과 쾌감을 주는 대상이며 미는 보는 사람의 마음에 있다라는 감성의 미학에서 Esthetique라는 단어를 처음 사용했다. 다시 말하면 Soim Esthetique는 인간의 마음 만족과 쾌감을 주는 배려 있는 조치로써 여성이 화장을 함으로써 외모의 조화에서 마음과 신체의 균형을 꾀하는 생명현상의 심층과 연관되는 것과 마찬가지로 에스테틱과 화장의 심리는 매우 땔래야 땔 수 없는 불과분의 밀접한 관계라 볼 수 있다.

A Study on Implications of Recognition Paradigm for Social Work (대안적 비판이론으로서 인정 패러다임의 사회복지적 함의)

  • The main purpose of the study is to explore the implications of Recognition Paradigm for domains of social work, especially focusing on the arguments exchanged between Axel Honneth and Nancy Fraser, two eminent scholars in this field. The Recognition paradigm, which is an alternative perspective in practical philosophy developed to cope with the changing socio-political situations in the late modern society, is providing the domain of social work with a lot of important theoretical and practical implications as well. In particular, Honneth's recognition theory which considers the recognition as a basic prototype in human development and construction of society is able to clarify the fundamental mission and territory the social work profession is to pursue. But for the meanwhile, Fraser's dual perspective of justice, which is an extended version of redistributive justice introducing the recognition component in it, can suggest diverse practical strategies to confront complex injustice-making structures effectively in the later modern society. In spite of these abundant implications in both theoretical and practical areas, the recognition paradigm still save several fundamental considerations for social work, such as the real meaning of the recognition in social work, the exact population from whom social work seek to get recognition, and the adequate strategy, so-called "recognition struggle" which social work is to employ to acquire the recognition.

  • The aim of this research is to examine patterns of design governance used by Northern European countries to respond to social crises and understand design governance as a tool for sophistication of social services and social integration. Design governance as applied in Sitra of Finland, MindLab of Denmark and the Gulliver project of Germany encourages using design methodology for analyzing and solving problems related to social phenomena based on involvement of the private, public, industrial, and academic groups. Especially, the citizens are actively involved in developing problem-solving ideas and designing new policy with other governance members, rather than simply providing information or one-time participation. In the cases discussed in this study, design governance reduce unnecessary administrative and financial consumption and inconvenience caused by complicated rules, based on field-oriented approach, regional characteristics, pluralism, and respect for diversity. Therefore, future design policy paradigm will need to evolve into concept of policy design and pluralistic monitoring centered on design governance based on participation of private sector to lead policy development, from the current system in which only few officials decide policy.

An Investigation of Beginning and Experienced Teachers' PCK and Teaching Practices - Middle School Functions - (초임교사와 경력교사의 교수학적 내용지식과 수업실제 분석 - 중학교 함수단원 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of PCK before class, investigate how these characteristics are enacted in classrooms when beginning and experienced teachers teach mathematical functions, and provide pedagogical implications. Two beginning teachers and two experienced teachers participated in the study. In order to analyze characteristics of PCK before class, interviews and survey research were conducted. An investigation of classroom discourse was used to examine how the PCK characteristics appear in classrooms. Results show that experiences teachers enacted their PCK about learner, curriculum, teaching methods, and teaching environment in classrooms, whereas beginning teachers could not show their PCK. These results suggest practical implications for the developments of teacher education curriculum and teacher training program.

Perception Survey on Characteristics of Scientific Literacy for Global Science-Technology-Society for Secondary School Students (글로벌 과학기술사회에 대비한 중등학생들의 과학적 소양 특성에 대한 인식)

  • This study investigated middle and high school students' perceptions of scientific literacy in the $21^{st}$ century through the survey. Subjects were 952 students from 13 participating schools. 482 middle school students and 470 high school students, 471 male students and 481 female were involved. The survey questionnaire asked which elements they thought would be important to be scientifically literate in the $21^{st}$ century and why they chose the elements. The results showed that most of the students tended to focus on orientation, content knowledge, and mindset. A large portion of female students showed orientation was the most important element. On the other hand, male students showed that scientific knowledge as well as orientation was important.

  • The advancement of multicultural society and democracy in modern society demands radical and immense changes in artificial creatures. These changes have presented a universal paradigm that respects the human dignity and diversity. Currently studies on UD in differently regions & countries have emerged. Recently, the research has been doing a trend of development in the world. The purpose of this study is to identify the trend of universal designs researched in Korea. As a study method, contents analysis has been utilized using academic published journal article that were from 1997 until 2013. Sixty five academic journals were analyzed according to by type of literature, year, author's major area, research target & content. It was introduced in interior design filed and it was mostly introduced in the spatial fields of interior designs and architectures. It has been gradually expanded to design circles and further to non-design circles. It expected that this diffusion will be continued because multicultural and democratic society will become more mature in future.

A Case Study on the Experience of Hospice Volunteers (호스피스 자원봉사자들의 봉사경험에 대한 심층적 이해 - 질적 사례 연구 -)

  • Purpose: This study is aimed at understanding the volunteers' experiences and interactions with their corresponding teams during their participation in hospice care. More specifically, the study is to contribute policy-wise to development of hospice care in Korea by helping policy-makers and organizers and managers of hospice care provides better understand the importance of the meaning and roles of volunteers in hospice care. Methods: In-depth interviews and participant observation were performed with study participants who were selected from four different types of hospice agencies. Study analysis was conducted using "case study" as one of the rigorous qualitative research methods to develop "inter-" and "intra-" comparisons among the study participants. Results: Volunteers in hospice care were initially motivated by religion and faith, and the motivation grew stronger through the volunteer experiences. They emphasized that the essence of the hospice volunteering was motivation from religion and faith and something they do for themselves. They characterized their experience as a true service that is offered for free and a job that requires expertise. In addition, they achieved personal (internal) growth by reflecting on the meaning of "good death" and better understood the importance of respecting spiritual diversity. Conclusions: This study could help hospice officials offers better understand hospice volunteers' role and their importance. The study also provide practical implications and policy suggestions.

A Study on the Application of UDL to Christian Unification Education in the Era of Multiculturalism (다문화시대 기독교통일교육에 대한 보편적학습설계(UDL) 적용 제고)

  • South Korea is currently facing multiculturalism, appropriately demanding broadened view and access to the study of Unification, especially in terms of who should be the subject. In congruence, recent Unification Education studies are proposing values stressed in Multiculturalism to function as the core ground, upon which other traits and contents are to follow. Similarly, Christian Education field is also reflecting the recent trend, welcoming 'everyone' to participate in preparing reunification of Korean Peninsula. However, most studies consist of suggesting and introducing directions for new approaches, not so much of dealing with systems or guidelines for practical practices. Information provided in fragments can rather cause confusion in understanding the concept, and lack of specific guidelines can soon lead to poor performances. In this study, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is introduced as a methodology to be examined, whether it could effectively embody and systemize the newly emerged Multicultural Christian Unification Education. Therefore, the purpose of this study is 1) to generalize the concept of Christian unification education introduced in the multicultural era and 2) examine whether UDL is suitable for uniformizing and spreading the Multicultural approach of Christian Unification Education. Specifically, this study highly focused on examining whether UDL is a suitable methodology to achieve the goal of Multicultural Christian unification education, while uniformizing the diversities within multicultural Christian Unification Education. Through a thorough research, it was proved that the purpose and characteristics of multicultural Christian unification education are similar to those of UDL in that both focus on accepting heterogeneity as something "different" rather than something "wrong." Also, it was found that the application of the theory and guidelines of UDL can effectively unify while respecting the diverse methodologies used in Multicultural Christian Education.

A Study on The Disturbed's Healing Games of Green Contents Concept (그린콘텐츠 개념을 적용한 정신장애 치료게임 연구)

  • Functional Games, which have developed in Korea until now, is only for the healthy people's education. There are less functional games for neglected people, specially for the disturbed's healing. I define 'Green Contents' as contents which is helpful to both of nature and human, especially to the week, and also they are not developed only for the commercial aim. Functional Games for the disturbed's healing should be developed as' Green Contents.' If functional games for the disturbed's healing will be developed as aspects of technology and contents development, they will have more effects to people, and also people will need them more. For this study, I analyze art therapy, which is a normal treatment to give a social nature and self respect to the disturbed. Also I developed a functional game program for the disturbed's healing as based on psychoanalyst's theories and suggest it's Road-map. This study will be useful for the developer who want to develop this kinds of games afterwards, and various functional games for the disturbed's healing as Green Contents should be more developed in the near future.
