한국의 우주개발 활동 현황

  • 우리나라의 우주활동에 있어서 올해는 중요한 한해였다. 최초의 한국 소유 통신위성인 무궁화위성(KOREASAT)이 위성 통신 서비스를 시작하였고, 세계에서 두번째로 디지털 위성 방송을 시작하였다. 한국이 본격적인 기술개발에 참여한 최초의 실용위성인 다목적실용위성(KOMPSAT)도 '99년 발사를 위한 모든 계획이 순조롭게 진행되어 설계를 마치고 국산화 제작에 들어가고 있다.

  • The ultimate goal of satellite development is to use information obtained from satellites. Therefore, national-levelsatellite development program should include not only hardware development, but also infrastructure establishment and application technology development for information utilization. Until now, Korea has developed various satellites and has been very useful in weather and maritime surveillance as well as various disasters. In particular, KOMPSAT (Korea Multi-purpose Satellite) images have been used extensively in agriculture, forestry and marine fields based on high spatial resolution, and has been widely used in research related to precision mapping and change detection. This special issue aims to introduce a variety of recent studies conducted using KOMPSAT optical and SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images and to disseminate related satellite image application technologies to the public sector.

  • 인공위성 시스템은 기존의 임베디드 시스템과 달리 우주환경에서도 예측가능하며 견고히 수행되어야 하며, 또한 위성의 오류가 발생하게 되면 어떠한 환경에서도 위성의 생존을 위하여 자동적인 오류 검출. 오류 제거, contingency state로 위성을 재구성하는 과정이 반드시 필요로 한다. 이러한 모든 과정을 On-Board Fault Management라 하며, 본 논문에서는 다목적실용위성 2호의 On-Board Fault Management 구조와 오류 검출방식, 위성을 safing시키는 과정과 테스트 결과에 대해서 설명한다.

  • The process and results of the Coupled Loads Analysis performed in the course of the development of the KOMPSAT-1 were introduced in this paper. The process of performing the Coupled Loads Analysis was explained. The finite-element model of KOMPSAT-1 was explained. The load cases analyzed were introduced. With the results obtained from the Coupled Loads Analysis, it was confirmed that the KOMPSAT-1 was safe from the loads transmitted from the launch vehicle during launch vehicle flight.

  • 본 논문에서는 실용급 위성으로는 국내에서 처음 개발되는 다목적 실용위성의 개발과정 중 준비행모델에 대한 발사환경 시험에 관련된 내용의 일부를 관련분야의 전문가들에게 소개하는데 중점을 두었다. 장시간의 개발기간과 고비용이 소요되는 위성체를 성공적으로 설정궤도에 발사하기 위해서는 소음 및 진동에 관련된 심도있는 연구가 필수적이며, 향후 우주 분야의 독자적인 기술 개발시 국내 관련분야 전문가들의 노력이 절대적으로 필요하다.

Consideration Points for application of KOMPSAT Data to Open Data Cube (다목적실용위성 자료의 오픈 데이터 큐브 적용을 위한 기본 고려사항)

  • Open Data Cube(ODC) has been emerging and developing as the open source platform in the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites(CEOS) for the Global Earth Observation System of Systems(GEOSS) deployed by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), ODC can be applied to the deployment of scalable and large amounts of free and open satellite images in a cloud computing environment, and ODC-based country or regional application services have been provided for public users on the high performance. This study first summarizes the status of ODC, and then presents concepts and some considering points for linking this platform with Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT) images. For the reference, the main contents of ODC with the Google Earth Engine(GEE) were compared. Application procedures of KOMPSAT satellite image to implement ODC service were explained, and an intermediate process related to data ingestion using actual data was demonstrated. As well, it suggested some practical schemes to utilize KOMPSAT satellite images for the ODC application service from the perspective of open data licensing. Policy and technical products for KOMPSAT images to ODC are expected to provide important references for GEOSS in GEO to apply new satellite images of other countries and organizations in the future.

A Comparative Analysis for the Digitizing Accuracy by Satellite Images for Efficient Shoreline Extraction (효율적인 해안선 추출을 위한 위성영상별 디지타이징 정확도 비교 분석)

  • The existing field survey and aerial photography involve the waste of manpower and economic loss in the coastline survey. To minimize these disadvantages, the digitization for efficient coastline extraction was conducted in this study using the points extracted from the standard coastline of the approximate highest high water and the diverse satellite images (KOMPSAT-3, SPOT-5, Landsat-8 and Quickbird-2), and the comparative accuracy analysis was conducted. The differences between the standard coastline points of the approximate highest high water and the coastline of each satellite were smallest for KOMPSAT-3, followed by Quickbird-2, SPOT-5 and Landsat-8. The significant probability from between the multipurpose applications satellite and Quickbird-2 (significant probability two-tailed) was statistically significant at 1% significance level. Therefore, high-resolution satellite images are required to efficiently extract the coastline, and KOMPSAT-3, from which images are easily acquired at a low cost, will enable the most efficient coastline extraction without external support.

  • High intensity vibro-acoustic testing is the appropriate method for flight qualification testing of space flight vehicle which must ensure the acoustic environment of launch. To qualify vibro-acoustic environment during its flight, High Intensity Acoustic Test was performed for KOMPSAT-2(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) STM(Structural Thermal Model). This paper presents the detailed description on the high intensity acoustic test for KOMPSAT-2. Additionally the test results was compared with the analysis ones, which were estimated with 3-D SEA(Statistical Energy Analysis) model.
