In this study, the effect of laminate thickness on the compressive behaviour of composite materials is investigated through systematic experimental work using the stacking sequences, $[O_4]_{ns},{\;}[45/0/-45/90]_{ns}$ and $[45_n/0_n/-45_n/90_n]_s$ (n=2 to 8). Parameters such as fibre volume fraction, void content, fibre waviness and interlaminar stresses, influencing compressive strength with increasing laminate thickness are also studied experimentally and theoretically. Furthermore the stacking sequence effects on failure strength of multidirectional laminates are examined. For this purpose, two different scaling techniques are used; (1) ply-level technique $[45_n/0_n/-45_n/90_n]s$ and (2) sublaminate level technique $[45/0/-45/90]_{ns}$. An apparent thickness effect existes in the lay-up with blocked plies, i.e. unidirectional specimens ($[O_4]_{ns}) and ply-level scaled multidirectional specimens ($[45_n/0_n/-45_n/90_n]_s$). Fibre waviness and void content are found to be main parameters contributing to the thickness effect on the compressive failure strength. However, the compressive strength of the sublaminate level scaled specimens ($[45/0/-45/90]_{ns}$) is almost unaffected regardless of the specimen thickness (since ply thickness remains constant). From the investigation of the stacking sequence effect, the strength values obtained from the sublaminate level scaled specimens are slightly higher than those obtained from the ply level scaled specimens. The reason for this effect is explained by the fibre waviness, void content, free edge effect and stress redistribution in blocked $0^{\circ}$ plies and unblocked $0^{\circ}$ plies. The measured failure strengths are compared with the predicted values.
The differential settlement on ordinary concrete buildings and paved roads are often occurred and which caused the failure of structure. The grouting method can be used for correcting the settlement of the structure. However, the grouting method has a disadvantage like that it takes a long time period to get a desired strength, and it is not a continuous in the phase of reinforced effect. In this paper, as an injecting material called GPCON to complement disadvantage, it is estimated about the characteristic that has a high-density expansion. With the changing of ground conditions and amount of injection, the change of physical strength on compression, the stability against chemical material are studied through the filming of SEM. The physical strength with compression is developed to high strength due to mixing with other material. It is not react with most of the material on chemical conditions except the component of alcohol. Through the SEM test. it is confirmed that the strength of material was increased as formation is being densified.

Concrete is the most widely used construction material. The heavy self-weight of concrete may offer an advantage when developing high compressive strength and good dimensional stability. However, it is limited in the construction of super-long bridges or very high skyscrapers owing to the substantially increased self-weight of the structure. For developing lightweight concrete, various lightweight aggregates have typically been utilized. However, due to the porous characteristics of lightweight aggregates, the strength at the composite level is generally decreased. To overcome this intrinsic limitation, this study aims to develop a construction material that satisfies both lightweight and high strength requirements. The developed cementitious composite was manufactured based on a high volume usage of hollow glass microspheres in a matrix with a low water-to-cement ratio. Regardless of the tested hollow glass microspheres from among four different types, compressive strength outcomes of more than 60 MPa and 80 MPa with a density of 1.7 g/cm3 were experimentally confirmed under ambient and high-temperature curing, respectively.

The headed studs used extensively for steel-composite construction are specified as SS400 in the current Korean Standard specification considering the welding condition. And the corresponding equation for the shear force calculation is limited for the use of compression strength of concrete below $300kgf/cm^2$. However, it is expected that the high strengthening and precasting of both steel and concrete due to the necessity of shear connector or other connecting material for the combination of steel and concrete. Therefore, the experimental results obtained during the development process of high strength stud for the connection of high strength concrete and the steel member are reported in this paper. Also the effectiveness of newly developed shear connector using pipe(pipe stud) to increase the stiffness of a stud is verified by comparing both the stiffness and the strength with common stud bolt through the welding ability, mechanical characteristics and experimental investigation.
This paper proposes a new procedure carrying out a series of consolidated-undrained triaxial tests with a specimen. In this procedure high confining pressure applied to the specimen keeps constant during the test and each stage of consolidation can be controlled by partial drainage. With this procedure the test time is remarkably reduced by performing a series of triaxial tests with a single specimen. In order to verify the appliesbility of the procedure, standard triaxial compression tests and conventional multi -stage triaxial testy are performed for both undisturbed and disturbed samples and the results are compared with those of the proposed procedure. The comparison shows that strength parameters determined by the proposed procedure are well agreed with those of the other tests and thus it can be said that the procedure is very effective and practical in determining strength parameters.

The aim of this study is to derive an empirical formula for predicting ultimate strength of plates and stiffened plates subjected to uniaxial compression. The test data of ultimate compressive strength for unstiffened and stiffened plates previously obtained by others have been collected. Many test data are necessary so that the derived formula will be available in wide range of plate dimensions. Additional collapse tests for a plate specimen with one flat bar stiffener, varying dimensions of plate and stiffener were performed in this study. On the basis of the present and previous experimental data, a more useful empirical formula than the existing ones was derived by applying the least square method.
Bond test was carried out to assess the effect of several variables on bond characteristics between reinforcing bar and concrete. Key variables are concrete compressive strength($f_c$'=340, 460, 6513, 904kg/$cm^2$), concrete cover (25, 38, 51, 105, IlOmm), and bar diameter(Dl3 and D22). Confining effect and bar spacing are not taken into account. Thirty-two specimens subjected to uniaxial tension were tested under hypothesis uniform bond stress distribution along the reinforcing bar embeded in concrete. Failure mode was examined and local bond stress versus slip relationship diagrams were represented to show effect of the above variables, also test results(u1timate bond stress) were compared with bond and development provisions of the ACI Building Code(AC1 318-89) and proposed equations from previous research. According to analysis, borld stress and ultimate bond stress increased although compressive strength increased beyond the ACI Building Code upper limit. Therefore in calculating development length. compressive strength effect(exceeding 700kg /$cm^2$) should be accounted.
Since the size effect law announced currently has been based on the normal weight concrete, for light weight concrete having different fracture characteristics, its application is questionable. Accordingly, in this study, a model equation to predict the effect of dried unit weight of the concrete on size effect of its compressive strength was developed and a database using existing research results was created. After determining the experimental constants of prediction models of Ba${\check{z}}$ant based on nonlinear fracture mechanics, Kim and Eo, and this study using the database, their results are mutually compared. Finally, it was found that the prediction model of this study considered dried unit weight of concrete predicted well the test results for light weight concrete than that of the models of Ba${\check{z}}$ant and Kim and Eo.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the fire resistance of ultra-high-performance concrete according to the amount of polypropylene fiber. Different mixtures according to the amount of polypropylene fiber were exposed to a maximum temperature of 900℃; and explosive spalling, residual compressive strength, and ultrasonic velocity of each specimen were evaluated. Test results showed that the fire resistance can be improved by including a small amount of polypropylene fiber in ultra-high performance concrete. It was not observed that explosive spalling occur at a temperature of 900℃ when the polypropylene fibers over 0.4% were included. Residual compressive strength and ultrasonic velocity decreased by 48% and 44%, respectively, compared to those at room temperature.

In this study, the characteristics of self-healing mortars produced using an inorganic self-healing material consisting of ground granulated blast furnace slag, expansion agent, and anhydrite, were investigated. For three types of self-healing mortars with different amounts of the inorganic healing material, compressive strength was measured and the self-healing performance was evaluated through the constant water head permeability test. The healing rate and equivalent crack width according to crack-induced aging were used as indicies of healing performance evaluation. Considering the development of compressive strength of the self-healing mortars, the change in the healing rate with healing periods, and the economic feasibility, the optimal amount of inorganic self-healing materials was suggested as 20 % of the mass of cement.
