  • In the cause of car accidents in Korea, drowsy driving has shown that it is larger fctors than drunk driving. Therefore, in order to prevent drowsy driving accidents, drowsiness detection and warning system for drivers has recently become a very important issue. Furthermore, Many researches have been published that measuring alpha wave of EEG signals is the effective way in order to be aware of drowsiness of drivers. In this study, we have developed EEG measuring device that applies a signal processing algorithm using the LabView program for detecting drowsiness. According to results of drowsiness inducement experiments for small test subjects, it was able to detect the pattern of EEG, which means drowsy state based on the changing of power spectrum, counterpart of alpha wave. After all, Comparing to the results of drowsiness pattern between commercial equipments and developed device, we could confirm acquiring similar pattern to drowsiness pattern. With this results, the driver's drowsiness prevention system expect that it will be able to contribute to lowering the death rate caused by drowsy driving accidents.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects on the bio signal of brain waves and pulse waves using acupressure thermal bed combined with acupressure and thermal therapy. Forty healthy adults were divided into 20 experimental groups using combinatorial stimulation beds and 20 non-irritating controls. As a result of the experiment, the EEG was significantly increased in the delta wave and theta wave in the experimental group, and the alpha wave and beta wave decreased significantly. The pulse wave increased the parasympathetic activity index in the experimental group and the heart rate decreased. There was no difference in the control group. This change in EEG can be seen as a combination stimulation bed having a sleep-inducing effect, and a change in pulse wave can seen as having a relaxing effect. This study is expected to be used as basic data for the development of various combination stimulators and functional bed products.

  • In this study, a device was developed for diagnosing depression using EEG signals from July 2016 to June 2017. For normal people, the left alpha rhythm is more activated than the right alpha rhythm, but for the depressed patients, the right alpha rhythm is more activated than the left one. An analog circuit and digital low pass filter were used for noise removal and amplification of EEG, and the Hamming window function was applied to eliminate the signal leakage generated by the fast Fourier transform. To verify the validity of the developed diagnosis system, the EEG of 20 university students in the 3rd and 4th grade with an average age of 24 years was measured. Calculations of the relative value of the left and right alpha rhythm for the depression diagnosis revealed a minimum, maximum, and mean value of 66.7, 113.3, and 92.2, respectively. In addition, 7 out of 20 subjects were between 90 and 95, and those with a higher mean deviation of approximately 20 tended to have mild depression. These results can provide meaningful data for the development of depression treatment equipment by solving the left and right brain asymmetry problem, and it may be applied usefully to diagnose depression after clinical trials on a large number of depressed patients.

  • Studies that can find resolutions to problems of subjective psychiatric analysis must be performed and indeed they are in the process. However there still lies many problems in researches of mentality examination, which should be the foundation of finding potential resolutions. One of the biggest problems in the conventional system is that there are many different opinions by psychiatrists depending on their educations and experiences. There is no objective standard on the subjects and there is no effective psychiatric analysis method. Also, the characteristic of such examinations is that it cannot be applied to disabilities, foreigners and infants alyce the examination is ch examinconversation. The objective of this atudy is to standardize TAT(Thematic Apperception Test)analysiBallken index method so that subjective data from the examination can be excluded and the examination thus maklysithe examination objectified. Furthermore, objective result and patients' brain wave pattern is read with BCI(Brain Computer Interface) ch exaTherenvironment to Alsare it to brain wave characteristics vectors to reate brain-wave characteristics vector DB. Therefore, such DB can be utilize durlysithe examination and diagnosis to reate objective examination method and standardized diagnosis system. Thus, mentality examination can be performed only with brain-wave scans with BCI based TAT system.

  • There have been many studies on subject tests for 3D contents using 3D glasses, but there is a limited research for 3D contents using autostereoscopic display. In this study, we investigated to assess usability of electroencephalogram (EEG) as an objective evaluation for 3D contents with different quality using autosteroscopic display, especially for lenticular lens type. The image with optimal quality and the image with distorted quality were separately generated for autostereosopic display with lenticular lens type and displayed sequentially through lenticular lens for 26 subjects. EEG signals of 8 channels from 26 subjects exposed to those images were detected and correlation between EEG signal and the quality of 3D images were statistically evaluated to check differences between optimal and distorted 3D contents. What we found was that there was no statistical significance for a wave vibration, however b wave vibration shows statistically significant between optimal and distorted 3D contents. b wave vibration observed for the distorted 3D image was stronger than that for the optimal 3D image. This results suggest that subjects viewing the distorted 3D contents through lenticular lens experience more discomfort or fatigue than those for the optimum 3D contents, which resulting in the greater b wave activity for those watching the distorted 3D contents. In conclusion, these results confirm that electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis can be used as a tool for objective evaluation of 3D contents using autosteroscopic display with lenticular lens type.

  • The moxibustion therapy of orient medical is well known. Moxibustion method is used to burning moxibustion. The variation factors of the moxibustion stimulation for body can be applied to the electronic moxibustion method. This study is to analyze and examine the electroencephalogram(EEG) variations for moxibustion stimulation. In experiment, we divided six healthy male subjects into two same sized groups : with and without stimuli. The given stimuli are the moxibustion for CV4(Kwan-Won), CV8(Shin-Guel), and CV12(Jung-wan) acupuncture points. We have analyzed the power spectrum for ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\delta}$, ${\Theta}$ waves and the average EEG variation level and each channels variation level of EEG. The result was that the moxibustion stimulation decreased the EEG levels of parietal lobe(ch 2, 3, 6, 7) according to the somatosensory system. And the apparent different points are that mild-heat($42{\sim}44^{\circ}C$) stimulation generating ${\alpha}$-wave is increased and ${\beta}$-wave is decreased, also slight-hot($45{\sim}48^{\circ}C$) stimulation made ${\alpha}$-wave decrease and ${\beta}$-wave increase for occipital lobe(ch 4,8) on the simulation group.

  • Forward head posture (FHP) is a representative postural deformation problem in people today, causing various physical and mental problems, but the effect of FHP on discomfort or distraction during rest is not well known. Accordingly, this study aims to demonstrate the effect of FHP on these brain functions by analyzing brain wave signals at rest. Thirty-three heavy users of computers participated in this study, and all of them exhibited functional FHP when using computers. All participants performed using both normal posture and FHP, and their brain waves were measured at rest while maintaining each posture for five minutes without stimulation. Brain wave signals were acquired using EEG with 32 channels, and through frequency analysis, changes in delta and beta waves, known to be closely related to discomfort and attention, were compared and analyzed depending on the posture. As a result, FHP showed a significant decrease in delta waves in nine channels compared to the normal posture, and a significant increase in beta waves in 14 channels, showing that FHP does affect brain function at rest. These changes are consistent with those that occur under conditions of psychological discomfort and distraction, and they appear to be because the increased discomfort caused by musculoskeletal changes in the FHP also affects brain activity. These can provide important results showing that posture correction can help improve brain function and psychological state at rest.
