Immunomodulation by Bioprocessed Polysaccharides from Lentinus edodes Mycelia Cultures with Rice Bran in the Salmonella Gallinarum-infected Chicken Macrophages (Salmonella Gallinarum 감염닭의 대식세포에서 표고버섯 균사체 발효 미강생물전환소재에 의한 면역조절효과)

  • In this study, we investigated the effect of bioprocessed polysaccharides (BPPs) from liquid culture of Lentinus edodes fungal mycelia containing rice bran (BPP-RB) on a chicken-derived macrophage cell line, HD-11, when infected with Salmonella Gallinarum, an etiological agent of fowl typhoid. Experimental results demonstrated water extract of BPP-RB did not show growth inhibitory effects on S. Gallinarum 277. Protein expression profiles were also not altered by its treatment. Nonetheless, it could (i) enhance phagocytic activity of HD-11 cells, (ii) activate transcriptional expression of Th1-type cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ and interleukin $(IL)-1{\beta}$, iNOS, as well as an immunosuppressive cytokine IL-10, and (iii) negatively regulate Th2-type cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-6. Together results suggest that BPP-RB may be applicable for preventing fowl typhoid or other Salmonella infections in poultry farms as a potential feed additive.

Effects of Miling System on Gouda Cheese Characteristics made from Farmstead Milk-processing Plant (착유방식이 목장형 유가공으로 제조된 고다치즈의 품질 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This investigation was carried out to study effects of different milking systems on the characteristics of Gouda cheese produced at farmstead milk-processing plants. In the first study, raw milk was collected from automatic milking system and conventional milking system farms, and Gouda cheeses were prepared under the same conditions. After 6 months of aging, the chemical composition was analyzed and free fatty acid (FFA) analysis and sensory evaluation were carried out on the products. In the second study, Gouda cheese samples were collected from seven farmstead milk-processing plants and the chemical composition and texture profile analysis were evaluated. No significant differences were found in the chemical composition of Gouda cheese according to different milking systems or different farms except crude ash. FFA analysis showed significant differences among farms, but sensory evaluation showed no significant differences. No significant differences were observed in FFA content and sensory assessment of different milking systems. Texture profile analysis revealed that there were significant differences in each cheese made at different farm plants, but there were no differences when different milking systems were used.

  • Since blasting noise is impact noise, it will give a sudden shock to the human. In the case, such as the blast vibration, it has given aging buildings and livestock great damage to move the vibration along ground in nearby regions. In this study, the influence of the blasting generated during excavation was analyzed for effects on regional. A couple of field and laboratory surveys about geological were carried out to figure out the geological ratio in the study-performed area. Blast vibration noise was compared to the domestic and abroad case studies and each of the institutions permissible standards established the most appropriate criteria in site condition. The vibration velocity of blasting vibration exploits the values which were measured from test blasting on the ground in order to examine blasting effect. Considering the blasting point as the shortest distance from safety facilities (farms, private houses, etc.), the examination of the influence range, which was derived from the vibration velocity of blasting vibration, was performed to figure out how the point affected the safety facilities. Three-dimensional numerical analysis was performed a time history analysis in order to analyze the behavior of the structure for a dynamic blast load, which was determined in three directions of the blast vibration value. The results of three-dimensional numerical analysis and the blasting effect of blasting vibration estimation equation blasting vibration of impact circle with accompanying test blasting were compared. And the analysis confirmed similar results figures.

A Study on Development of Eco-revegetation Measures Using Remnant Root-stock of Native Trees(III) (자생수목그루터기를 재활용한 에코녹화공법 개발연구(III))

  • The objective of this study was to find eco-revegetation measures recycling remnant root-stock of native species which comes to be disused. The monitoring plot was established in Nov.2001 at Honam University's affliated farm that is located in Wolya-Myeon, Hampyeong-Gun, Jeollanam-Do. The plots were monitored 2 times each in Oct.2002 and Sep.2003. Sprout and survival rate of the root-stock including the effect of trunk length, antiseptic treatment, planting season and number of planted were surveyed. The results of the study were as follows Ten tree species including Zelkova serrata among twenty tree species showed outstanding sprout and survival rate (over 90 percent). The growth rate was better in the longer trunk length root-stocks (35cm) than shorter ones (10cm). There was a difference in the size of the root ball when digging the root-stocks. It showed better condition when the root ball sizes were 3 times wide and 5 times deep of the root-stocks or 5 times wide and 5 times deep. Antiseptic treatment on the cuts of the trunk of root-stocks makes a difference in the growth rate. The survival rate of the root-stock showed highest value (100%) when it was transplanted in late autumn (November). And the next best survival rate was reached when it was in early or late spring (March and May)

An Etiologic Study of Rabbit Dermatitis at Large Rabbit Farms in South Korea (집단 사육 되는 토끼에서 호발하는 피부병에 관한 병인론적 연구)

  • This study was carried out between August and September 2007 to determine the causative agents and epidemiologic features of rabbit dermatitis in Korea. Rabbits were shipped to the laboratory in the College of Veterinary Medicine from 10 rabbit farms. A total of 520 hair, blood, and skin specimens collected from skin lesions of 40 rabbits with suspected dermatopathy were examined mycologically, bacteriologically, and parasitologically. The positive rates of dermatophytosis, bacterial skin dermatitis, and ectoparasite dermatitis were 95, 92.5, and 7.5%, respectively. The etiologic agents of dermatophytosis were identified as Trichophyton mentagrophyte (95%), non-dermatophytic filamentous fungi such as Aspergillus s(5%), and Cryptococcus humilocus (2.5%). With respect to bacteria-related skin dermatitis, Staphylococcus coagulase negative was the most common etiological agent. Staphylococcus aureus was the second most frequent causative agent. Most of the pathogenic isolates were resistant to tetracycline, and aminoglycosides such as amikacin and gentamicin were the most effective drugs against the pathologic bacteria isolated. Ectoparasites were rarely detected in this study. Only Psoroptes cuniculis was detected in 3 (7.5%) out of the 40 tested rabbits. The role of ectoparasites as a causative agent of dermatitis in rabbits in this study was minimal. Our results provide important information related to rabbit dermatitis treatments and researches.

Comparison of Serological and Virological Analysis for Infection Patterns of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus to Establish a Farm Level Control Strategy (돼지 생식기호흡기증후군바이러스의 농장단위 방역대책 수립을 위한 혈청학적 및 바이러스학적 감염유형 분석법 적용 및 비교)

  • Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) has plagued pig populations worldwide causing severe economical impacts. In order to establish effective strategies for prevention of PRRS, infection patterns on the herd level are primarily evaluated. In the present study, therefore, serological and virological analyses were conducted in 20 pig farms suffering from PRRS. Seroprevalence levels in each farm were grouped into 3 patterns: SN (Stable sow groups/Not infected piglet groups, SI (Stable sow groups and Infected piglet groups), and UI (Unstable sow groups and Infected piglet groups). The rates of each serological pattern were 15% (n=3), 10% (n=2), and 75% (n=15), respectively. In addition, the pattern analysis was extended to virological monitoring on the same farms that further included suckling pig groups. As a result, the infection pattern was classified into 4 categories: SNI (Stable sow groups/Not infected suckler groups/Infected piglet groups), SII (Stable sow groups/Infected suckler groups/Infected piglet groups), UNI (Unstable sow groups/Not infected suckler groups/Infected piglet groups), and UII (Unstable sow groups/Infected suckler groups/Infected piglet groups). The rates of each viroprevalence were estimated at 50% (n=10), 30% (n=6), 10% (n=2), and 10% (n=2), respectively. PRRSV viroprevalence results of suckling pig groups revealed that 8 farms were considered virus positive. In 2 farms among these farms, PRRSV appeared to be transmitted vertically to suckling piglets from their sows. In contrast, piglet-to-piglet horizontal transmission of PRRSV seemed to occur in sucking herds of the remaining farms. Thus, this virological analysis on suckling piglets will provide useful information to understand PRRSV transmission routes during the suckling period and to improve a PRRS control programs. Our seroprevalence and viroprevalence data found that infection patterns between sow and piglet groups are not always coincident in the same farm. Remarkably, 15 farms belonging to the UI seroprevalence pattern showed four distinct viroprevalence patterns (SNI; 7, SII; 4, UNI; 2 and UII; 2). Among these farms, 11 farms with unstable seroprevalence sow groups were further identified as the stable viroprevalence pattern. These results indicated that despite the absence of typical seroconversion, PRRSV infection was detected in several farms, implying the limitation of serological analysis. Taken together, our data strongly suggests that both seroprevalence and viroprevalence should be determined in parallel so that a PRRS control strategies can be efficiently developed on a farm level.

키토산 및 키토산올리고당 의생리 활성 기능

  • Chitin은 새우나 게 등을 비롯한 해산 갑각류의 가공 폐기물로 버려지는 부패, 악취발생 등의 환경공해를 일으키며 처리비용 등 여러 가지 문제를 야기하던 물질이지만 최근에는 부가가치가 높은 chitosan 및 chitooligosaccarides로 가공되기 때문에 폐기물의 자원화와 미이용 자원의 개발 등 여러 가지 측면에서 기대가 모아지고 있는 다당류이다. 더욱이 chitin의 탈아세틸화로 얻어지는 chitosan은 polycation의 성질을 가지고 있어서 현재 응집제로서 각종 공업 분야에 널리 이용되고 있으며 최근에는 그 외에도 다양한 생리적 기능성을 가지고 있다는 사실이 밝혀지면서 의료, 생호학, 화장품, 식품, 화학 공업 및 농업용 등 다양한 분야에 응용 가능한 신소재로서 기대가 높아지고 있다. 그런, chitosan은 생리적 기능은 우수하지만 물에 용해되지 않고 점도가 높으며 떫은맛이 나기 때문에 식품을 비롯한 기타 응용분야에 이용이 제한되고 있다. 따라서 많은 연구자들은 이와 같은 물리적인 장애를 개선함으로써 chitosan 자체가 갖는 우수한 생리적 기능을 이용할 뿐만 아니라 항종양성을 비롯한 새로운 생리적 기능을 갖는 chitosan 유도체의 개발을 시도하고 있다. Chitosan 유도체 중에서도 chitooligosaccharides는 chitosan의 가수분해로 얻어지는 저분자 화합물이므로 물에 잘 용해도며 점도가 낮고 용액이 단맛을 낼뿐만 아니라 chitosan이 갖지 않는 새로운 생리적 기능성을 갖는 것으로 알려지면서 관심이 집중되기 시작하였다. 본고에서는 chitosan과 chitooligosaccarides의 생리 활성 기능에 대한 지금까지의 연구결과를 소개하고자 한다.에 대한 면밀한 사안이 밝혀지는 경우가 많지 않다. 또한 그 발생 경위나 원인요소에 대해서는 일반에게 공개되지 않고 있어, 우리가 실천하여 식중독을 예방할 수 있는 정보가 함께 제시되지 못하는 형편이다. 따라서 본 고에서는 최근 수년간 외국에서 학교급식을 비롯한 집단급식 등에서 발생한 식중독 사례를 중심으로 고찰, 분석하였다. 이로부터 식중독 발생에 기여한 주요 원인을 찾아내고 여기서 얻어지는 교훈을 토대로 식중독 발생을 예방 및 최소화할 수 있는 실천적 대처 방안을 모색해 보고자 한다.중의 E. coli O157:H7이 연관되어있다는 보고도 있다. 목장 방문시 원유를 마신 어린이에서 HUS가 유발하였고, 균분리 결과, 농장의 소와 어린이에서 유사한 E. coli O157:H7이 분리된 바 있다. 본 연자들은 베로톡신 유형, plasmid profiles, RFLP 분석, phage type을 기초로하여 소에서 분리된 E. coli O157:H7이 사람유래주와 매우 유사함을 확인하였다.mm 및 2-6mm 난포에서의 101개(67.8%) 및 47개(50.0%) 보다 매우 낮게 나타났다. 전체 회수 난포란수도 4등급이 59.1%(149/252)로써 1, 2, 3등급의 0.4% (1/252), 7.6%(19/252) 및 32.9%(83/252)보다 높게 나타났다. 1회 평균 회수 난포란은 $\leq$2mm 난포에서 4.8$\pm$3.7개로써 2-6mm(3.0$\pm$3.4개) 및 $\geq$6mm (0.3$\pm$0.6개)보다 높았으며, 1회당 평균 8.1$\pm$5.1개의 난포란을 회수하였다. in

  • This study is performance thesis to examine structure of excessive consuming culture of modern people's desire turning away from modern people's original purpose of aiming life that is well-being. Method of the research is theological examination of people's desire into consuming and well-being culture is critically analyzed by creation of meanings and differences of showcase that symbolize consuming culture. Also my piece of work 'Well-buying Shop 1' that above theory is applied is selected for focused analysis of concept realization method in video configuration method and technique. The symbol Showcase in the animation represent laboratory of consuming culture and desire for ownership. The animation runs for 3 minutes and 50 seconds focused on animal characters raised in well-being farm. Through cut out animating environment, animal characters have life in the animation and they are completed with long take method and temperament editing type for effort of liberal devotion between audience and the animation. Lithographic technique is used for characters and background images for trial of pictural density by pressures and variety of colors. This study was conducted with the basis of above animation showing opportunity and it has significance on trial of various color of lithographic expression technique that are not commonly used in animation image production.

Studies on Characteristics of Ostrich Egg Shell and Optimal Ashing Conditions for Preparation of Calcium Lactate (타조알 껍질의 성분특성 및 젖산칼슘 제초를 위한 최적 회화조건 검토)

  • Characteristics of ostrich egg shell and optimal ashing conditions for preparation of calcium lactate were investigated. Average weight, girth, and length of ostrich egg shell with membrane (OESM) were 255.17 g, 39.50 cm, and 15.20 cm, respectively. Ostrich egg shell without membrane (OES) contained 0.35% moisture, 40.98% Ca as a maior mineral, 2.43% protein, and 235.0 mg/100 g of amino acids. Optimal ashing times for preparation of white-colored ashing powder from OES were 12 hr at $700^{\circ}C$, 80 min at 80$0^{\circ}C$, and 15 min at 90$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. These ashing conditions resulted in ashing powder with yields of 54.5~54.6% and color values of 97.26 ~97.51 for $L^{*}$, -0.30~-0.34 for $a^{*}$, and 0.63~0.98 for $b^{*}$. Ashing powders, from three different particle size ranges of OES, did not show significant differences in yield.eld.d.

Changes in Organic acids, Free Sugars, and Volatile Flavor Compounds in Fig (Ficus carica L.) by Maturation Stage (무화과의 성숙도에 따른 유기산, 유리당 및 향기 성분의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study collected 120 figs, classified them into six degrees of maturity according to hardness values, and analyzed contents of organic acids and free sugars. Volatile compounds in figs were investigated using the solid-phase microextraction method of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. For measurement of texture, elasticity increased up to stage 4 and decreased again. Cohesiveness and brittleness increased with maturation. Organic acids in figs were mainly composed of citric acid, malic acid, and tartaric acid in the final stage. Fructose and glucose were the major sugar components of figs. Fructose content decreased from stage 1 to stage 4 and then increased significantly. One hundred and nineteen volatile compounds were identified in figs, and classes were 14 acids, 15 alcohols, 23 aldehydes, 10 esters, 33 hydrocarbons, 11 ketones, four aromatics, six miscellaneous, and five terpenes. The dominant volatile components in figs were hexadecanoic acid, hexane, dodecanal, DL-limonene, 2-hexanal, nonanal, and 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one.
