Toxic Assessment on Effluents of Argo/Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants in Jeonnam using Chemical and Biological Method (전남 농공단지 폐수처리장 방류수의 화학적/생물학적 독성평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the distributive property of organic pollutants in effluents of argo/industrial wastewater treatment plants in Jeonnam using simultaneous analysis method of 310 chemicals. The numerous organic pollutants were detected in four sampling sites and the major chemicals were pesticides, CH type chemicals such as polycyclic compounds, CHO type chemicals such as phthalates, and CHO(N) type chemical such as aromatic amines. Moreover, 17 kinds of endocrine disrupters which include diethylptbalate were detected in each sampling sites. TU (Toxic unit) indicated cytotoxicity of samples using XTT assay, it appeared highly at A point(27.2) and D point(24.4). Also, the results from the correlation between total concentration of pollutants and TU did not correspond to the results of chemical and biological analysis.

  • 생활하수처리장과 농공단지폐수처리장 방류수의 화학분석과 in vitro bio-assay를 통한 세포독성의 결과를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) 다성분 동시분석법을 통해 다양한 성상을 가진 9곳의 방류수에서는 phenol, aliphatic compounds, polycyclic compounds, phthalate, pesticides, aromatic amines, benzens, nitro compounds이 주오염물질로 검출이 되었다. 2) 세포독성을 나타내는 TU값이 생활하수에서는 화학분석에 결과 다종고농도의 유기오염물질이 검출된 A지점과 농공폐수의 F지점에서 높게 나타났다. 즉, 화학분석결과와 in vitro bio-assay에 의한 상관관계를 유추해 볼 수 있다. 3) S9 mixture에 따른 대사활성으로 난분해성, 소수성 유기오염물질에 대한 세포독성에 악영향을 미침을 알 수 있다.

Biological Water Quality Assessments in Wastewater-impacted and Non-impacted Streams (폐수처리 시설의 영향에 따른 영산강 수계의 생물학적 수질 평가)

  • In 2003, we evaluated biological water quality at twelve sites of Youngsan River using community analysis, fish compositions, and the Index of Biological Integrity (IBI). Of the twelve, four sites were the controls, which have no point sources in the upstream and the remaining eight sites were the impacted sites, which are influenced by wastewater treatment plant (WTP) and agro-industrial complex. Model values of the IBI, based on 12 sites data, averaged 28 (n=12, range: $18{\sim}44$), indicating fair poor condition according to the criteria of US EP A (1993). In the mean time, mean IBI in the control sites (S3, S5, S6, S11) was 42 (n=4, range: $38{\sim}44$), indicating a good condition, whereas mean IBI in the impacted sites was 21, indicating a poor condition. Mean IBI value in the control, thus, was greater by 2 fold than that in the WTP sites. The spatial pattern of IBI values was similar to the patterns of species diversity index and species richness index, except for Site 11, which was 1st order stream. Similarity analysis indicated that three groups were divided at the similarity level of 80%. One group was the streams influenced by wastewater and the other two groups were the pristine streams as the control, indicating that the stream health conditions are directly influenced by presence or absence of the point sources. Also, Pearson's correlation analysis showed that IBI values had negative correlation (r=0.899, p<0.001) with relative abundance of tolerance species, and had positive relation (r=0.890, p<0.001) with sensitive species. Overall, outcomes suggest that the point sources of the WTP might impact the species composition and ecological health, resulting in degradation of biological water quality.

  • Power of loess ball on nitrogen and phosphorous removal in wastewater treatment were investigated. flow line A ( anaerobic${\rightarrow}$oxic${\rightarrow}$anoxic(organic source methanol)${\rightarrow}$p-absorption) showed the results of T-P 0.5, T-N 1.0, and COD 10ppm bellow, and flow line B ( oxic${\rightarrow}$anoxic, organic source: methanol${\rightarrow}$p-absorption) showed the results of T-P 0.3, T-N 5.0, and COD 15 ppm bellow. flow line C ( anaerobic${\rightarrow}$oxic${\rightarrow}$anoxic, organic source: wastewater ${\rightarrow}$ p-absorption) showed the results of T-P 0.6, T-N 10, and COD 15 ppm bellow, and flow line D ( oxic${\rightarrow}$anoxic, organic source: methanol${\rightarrow}$p-absorption) showed the results of T-P 1, T-N 8m, and COD 20 ppm bellow. So the results of these experiments showed the probability of loess ball in wastewater treatment.

  • 공공수역의 수질개선을 위해 그동안 하 폐수 처리장 등 친환경시초시설의 건설과 하수관거의 확충으로 점오염을 통제해왔으나, 여전히 하천, 호소, 연안의 수질은 목표 수준까지 개선되지 않고 있으며, 점오염원 삭감에 따라 상대적으로 비점오염원의 수질오염 기여도는 증가하고 있다. 비점오염물질은 도로상 오염물질, 도시지역의 먼지와 쓰레기, 지표상 퇴적오염물질, 농지에 살포된 농약, 축사에서의 유출물 등이 강우시 빗물과 함께 유출되면서 발생한다. 특히, 도시지역에는 대 소규모 공단들이 밀집되어 있기 때문 발생되는 비점오염물질의 특징은 단위면적당 오염부하가 크고 각종 유독성 물질을 함유하고 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 도시유역의 개별 공장이 아닌 이러한 비점오염원 특징을 가진 대 소규모 공업단지(김해시 나전농공단지, 부산시 녹산 국가산업단지)를 선정하여 비점오염물질의 유출특성을 알아보고자 하였다.

A Study on Removal of T-N by Loess Ball Using Synthetic Wastewater (Loess ball에 의한 총질소 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the wastewater treatment was conducted to evaluate the removal efficiency of total nitrogen from synthetic wastewater in the F-STEP PROCESS $(anaerobic{\rightarrow}\;oxic\;{\rightarrow}\;anoxic)$ with loess ball as support metrics. The average removal efficiencies of total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen were $83.0\%\;and\;84.4\%$, respectively. The average nitrification efficiency at the oxic area was $60.9\%$ in the pH range of effluent water between 4.8 and 6.0. On the other hand, in the case of pH range of effluent water between 6.5 and 7.5, the denitrification efficiency at the anoxic area was $96.3\%$. The average concentration of COD was 12.8 ppm and the removal efficiency of COD in the F-STEP PROCESS were $96.3\%$. In the case of SS, the average concentration was $7.0\%$ at the effluent.

Optimization of Operation Conditions for Improving the Nitrogen Removal Efficiency in Wastewater Treatment Plant (질소제거효율 향상을 위한 하수처리장 최적 운전조건 도출 연구)

  • 네덜란드 브리젠빈 하폐수처리장 최종방류수의 $NH_4$-N 및 TN(Total Nitrogen)농도를 방류수 수질기준인 각각 4 mg/L와 10 mg/L에 맞추기 위한 최적의 운전조건을 도출하기 위해 다양한 제어시스템이 시뮬레이션 되었다. 본 연구에 사용된 모델은 IWA(International Water Association) 활성슬러지 모델 No.1 (ASM No.1)이었고, GPS-X가 시뮬레이터로 사용되었다. 모델링을 위한 매개변수 민감도 분석결과 ASM No.1의 총 19개 매개변수 중 8개 변수 ($Y_H$, ksh, koh, $b_H$, ${\mu}_a$, $k_{NA}$, kh, ka)가 방류수 수질에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었고 이들 매개변수에 대해 보정을 수행하여 사용하였다. SRT, 호기/무산소기간, 외부탄소원 주입시간 변화에 따른 방류수질 변화를 시뮬레이션하였는데, 호기/무산소 11h/1h인 조건에서 SRT가 20일에서 25일로 증가되면 $NH_4$-N가 5.0 mg/L에서 2.9 mg/L로 감소되었고 호기/무산소 2h/1h의 조건에서는 SRT증가에 따라 $NH_4$-N은 큰 감소를 보이지만, 바이패스되는 유입수량의 감소로 탈질율이 낮아 방류수 TN이 11.1~11.5 mg/L로 예측되는 결과가 도출되었다. 탈질율을 높이기 위한 아세트산 주입은 동일한 양의 아세트산을 무산소 전기간 (1h)동안 균일 주입하는 것 보다는 무산소 초기 15분내에 주입하는 것이 효율적인 것으로 나타났다.
