  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest a direction for future studies based on the analysis of the articles published in the Korean Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care from 1998 to 2012. A total of 240 articles (51 reviews, 189 original) were examined in three five-year groups. Categories of analysis include authors' background (profession, region) and general characteristics and qualitative aspects of the original paper (participants, topic, study design, data analysis, ethical consideration, multidisciplinary approach, research funds and sample size estimation). While the journal publishes more of articles than before, it is mainly due to the increase in the number of review articles, not original articles. As for study topics, healthcare industry and physical symptoms were most frequently studied. The disparity in authors' regional background is fading, and more articles are published by nurses than before. Moreover, more studies are funded while fewer papers tend to adopt a multidisciplinary approach or focus on care givers. Also, in terms of a study design, the number of experimental and methodological studies has slightly increased. In the qualitative aspect, studies considered ethical issues and collected participation consent, and fewer studies reported an estimated sample size. In data analysis, post-adjustment comparison decreased, and new analytical methods are increasingly used. Our results indicate the need to conduct research with more extensive scientific data in various fields of hospice and palliative care.

  • Until 2000, there were only eight female directors in Korean film history; however, the number of female directors has increased with the number of new movies made and the entrance of new directors. In 2007, there were about seven new female directors and in 2009, there were released 13 movies directed by female. Even though the number of new movies and new entrants of female directors has augmented, the percentage of movies directed by female directors is about 5% of released Korean movies during the past ten years. Moreover, those female directors who enter the Korean film industry are mostly concentrated in low budget independent films. Yet, female directors have been continuously searching and challenging in order to find a way to communicate with general populations. As a result, recently female directors have been noticed in thriller films. This report will analyze how the thriller films directed by female directors have evolved since 2000 based on the status of female directors in commercial films. The report will analyze two thriller films "Helpless" and "Perfect Number", released in 2012.

  • In general, curved bends raises a risk of overtopping due to floods and also threatens a bank safety due to a local flow concentration. This study aims to test the applicability of CCHE2D model for experimental flumes with two different types of bends and then investigate flow characteristics in the sharply-curved bend of a natural channel. The results demonstrated that the percent error of water level was within 4.9% for experimental flume applications and the simulated spatial distribution of velocity matched the observed results very closely. The calibrated model based on the experimental flumes was also applied to analyze the flow characteristics in natural channel bends of the Daeyu reach, located in a downstream of the Youngdam Dam. The results showed that in upstream, the simulated water level by the CCHED was observed at 1.5 m higher than the 1-D numerical model (HEC-RAS) result since the HEC-RAS could not represent the bend geometry effect on streamflow. However, the calculated results by several empirical formula support that the CCHE2D is suitable for the super elevation simulation as well as flood stage and velocity in a natural channel bend.

  • In this study, the researches published in Korea during the six years since 2011, when the STEAM started in earnest, were classified by year, content, type, subject, and center area. in 2011, when STEAM was launched, it was hard to find relevant articles, but it has been increasing rapidly since 2013. The number of articles published by the contents was development application 650(48.9%), effect analysis 394(29.6%), theory contents 179(13.5%), and actual condition recognition 107(8.0%). The number of articles published by research type were quantitative research 347(34.7%), qualitative research 274 (27.4%), mixed research 379(37.9%). The number of articles published by research subjects was 435(40.2%) for elementary school, 209(19.4%) for middle school, 151(14.0%) for high school, 150(13.9%) for literature, 88(8.1%) for teacher, 19(1.8%) for child, 11(1.0%) for preliminary teacher, 9(0.8%) for university and 9(0.8%) for Public. The percentage of research centered on science is the highest of 383(33.2%), while the research on art, technology, and mathematics is also 266(23.0%), 161(13.9%), 152(13.2%). In elementary science, the articles related to STEAM education showed a tendency to decrease in 2014, unlike overall trends, and it mainly conducted research on development and application, effect analysis, and preferred mixed research.

  • We reviewed studies on food poisoning in Korea from 1959-1988. Three hundred fifty three papers including original articles, review articles, and special editions were selected from thirty two journals and others. In the late 196Os, sujects related with environmental pollution were found. After the middle 1980s, the number of papers abruptly increased owing mainly to publishing the Korean Journal of Food Hygiene. The most frequently studied subject matter was Salmonellosis.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the research trend changes of convergence education since 2011 compared to the convergence education research that has been steadily continuing in science education. The trend in convergence education were investigated by comparing the number of publications, research subjects, research content, and topic linkages with previous studies, and using the network analysis method to check recent research trends. In the field of science education, the number of papers related to convergence education has been published more than 8.0% steadily, and it has been increasing since 2012, then decreasing again from 2015 and gradually increasing again from 2017. The subjects of study were high in elementary school students, while those in middle school, high school, and university students were low. While the number of in-service teachers increased, the number of pre-service teachers decreased, and the literature and public increased somewhat. In study content, effectiveness studies decreased, while development studies increased, and theoretical and perception studies appeared similar. In thematic linkage, the intra-science linkage was 23.9%, and the extra-science linkage was 76.1% and engineering/technology and art were high in extra-science linkage. In network analysis, elementary, science, STEAM, and program words have a high frequency of appearance and appear together with other words to lead the network. The educational implications of the research trend of convergence education will be more emphasized in the field of science education in the future, and in order to take root in the education field, research on secondary students should be more actively studied. In addition, it is necessary to move away from research on STEAM-centered program development and effects, and to increase research to establish the philosophical basis and theoretical of convergence education.

  • In order to guarantee the survivability of essential services against attacks based on new methodology, we need a solution to recognize important resources for the services and to adapt the urgent situation properly. In this paper, we present a dynamic resource reallocation scheme which is one of the core technologies for the construction of intrusion tolerant systems. By means of resource reallocation within a host, this scheme enables selected essential services to survive even after the occurrence if a system attack. Experimental result obtained on a test-bed reveals the validity of the proposed scheme for resource reallocation. This scheme may work together with IDS (Intrusion Detection System) to produce more effective responsive mechanisms against attacks.

  • In an early stage, a study on speleologyand cave environment was very active even though the number of papers was limited. From the mid 1980s to 2000, the academic activities on caves were the most active with a variety of subjects. Since the 1990s, people started to focus on the environmental change in caves and preservation rather than development. Recently, many studies have dealt with humanistic environment, seeing caves as a tourism resource. Therefore, the correlation between the cave and surrounding tourist destinations has been actively studied.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine current state of curriculum research and research methods used in the research in Korea. Results from the review of peer-reviewed research articles suggest that the ways in which the research studies on curriculum in Korea sorted out issues seemed to heavily concentrate on the written and intended curriculum by means of a document analysis. The topics of curriculum studies were biased in the studies of intended curriculum, and a significant number of curriculum studies were related to elementary levels. Regarding the research methods, the findings showed that many studies on mathematics curriculum have focused on national curriculum, textbooks, and curriculum materials, document analysis are the most frequently used methods in the studies of mathematics curriculum. We finally suggest pursuing various research topics and issues on curriculum, balancing weigh on the written and enacted curriculum, and deeper analysis and investigation of textbooks.
