Multidimensional Performance Assessment Support System for Collaborative Project Course (협동프로젝트 교과과정을 위한 다차원 수행평가지원 시스템)

  • Most important factor for successful operation of collaborative project, which is a project based curriculum, is systematic and rational assesment. In this paper, we design and implement multidimensional performance assessment support system which can overcome simplicity of result-oriented evaluation. In the proposed system, learner can diagnose problems and improve those by oneself. We design the system satisfying both professor and student about evaluation results through evaluating total course of collaborative project.

  • Existing works to measure readers' understanding of interactive e-books have mainly employed quantitative approach which are difficult to get direct interpretation of the evaluation results. Attentive to interactive, visual and narrative features, this paper proposes a new method for measuring readers' engagement by making them to reconstitute a storyboard. Experimenting with real readers, we validated that this method could give a qualitative assessment that allows finding out problematic narrative phases and the adequacy of interaction formation.

  • 본 논문에서는 원자로 제어봉제어계통에서의 제어 소프트웨어의 신뢰성평가 내용을 기술한다. 안전필수 플랜트의 하나인 원전에 사용되는 제어기기는 높은 수준의 신뢰성을 요구하고 있는데 지금까지 하드웨어에 대한 신뢰성은 객관적인 평가 방법이 제시되어 활용되고 있으나 소프트웨어의 타당한 신뢰성 평가는 여전히 난제로 남아 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 평가 모델의 하나를 적용하여 원자로 제어봉제어계통의 전력함 소프트웨어를 평가해본다. 그러나 평가방법에서 예측되는 바와 같이 평가결과의 불확실 정도의 크기로 비추어 볼 때 실제 안전필수 산업분야에서의 실적용을 판단하기 위한 객관적인 신뢰성 척도로 사용되기는 여전히 어렵다고 판단된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 질의/응답 시스템의 평가를 위해 구축된 평가집합 (Korean Question Answering Test Collection 2.0: KorQATeC2.0)에 대하여 기술한다. KorQATeC2.0은 총 120개의 질의와 207,067개의 문서로 구성되어 있으며, 120개의 질의는 질의에 대한 정답을 제시하는 방식에 따라 기본 과제 질의, 나열 과제 질의, 문맥 과제 질의, 요약 과제 질의로 나누어진다. 또한 KorQATeCl.0과는 달리 여러 문서를 참조하여 정답을 구성하는 질의와 문서집합에 정답이 존재하지 않는 질의를 포함시킴으로써 질의/응답 시스템의 평가를 다양하게 할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 논문에서 기술하는 평가집합은 질의/응답 시스템의 객관적 평가를 가능하게 한다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

홀로그래픽 디스플레이 성능평가의 의미와 체계구축에 대한 연구

  • 본 연구 논문의 목표는 홀로그래픽 디스플레이 성능평가 항목을 구체적으로 정리하며 성능평가 정의를 기반으로 홀로그래픽 디스플레이의 화질평가 방법을 제안한다. 홀로그래픽 디스플레이를 통하여 제공되는 입체 시 인지요인의 만족지표를 설정하고 디스플레이 되는 홀로그래픽 디스플레이의 광학적 요구 사항과 관련된 성능 평가 항목을 정의 한다. 또한 본 논문에서는 위상 광변조기(Phase SLM)를 이용한 실험장치를 구성하여 획득한 홀로그래픽 재생영상을 분석함으로써 홀로그래픽 디스플레이의 영상이 갖추어야 할 평가지표를 나타낸다. 평가 항목과 관련하여 모듈레이션 전이함수(Modulation Transfer Function)를 이용한 해상도(resolution)와 대조비(contrast)에 대한 결과를 분석하였으며 마지막으로 획득된 간섭무늬(Fringe Pattern)의 랜덤 위상 노이즈(Random Phase Noise)에 따른 화질 저하에 대한 정량 분석결과를 나타낸다.

  • 개별논문 평가를 위해 제안된 altmetric가 주목받고 있다. altmetrics에서는 개별 논문의 트윗의 건수를 평가요소 중 하나로 활용한다. 그러나 여러가지 목적으로 작성된 트윗을 단일하게 처리하는 것은 문제가 있다. 본 논문은 과학 논문에 달린 트윗들을 분석하여 기능의 범주를 정의하고 분류체계를 제시하였으며, 기존의 논문의 인용기능 분류 실험을 실시하여 그 결과와 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 향후 도출한 트윗 기능 분류에 대한 개선과 추가적인 연구를 수행할 계획이다.

Image Quality Assessment by Measuring Blocking Artifacts (블록화 현상의 측정을 통한 영상의 화질평가)

  • Block based transform coding is most popular approach for image and video compression. However it suffers from severe quality degradation especially from blocking artifacts. The subjective quality degradation caused by such blocking artifacts in general does not agree well with an objecive quality measurement such as PSNR. Hence new quality evaluation technique is necessary. We propose a new image quality assessment method by measuring blocking artifacts for block based transform coded images. In order to characterize blocking artifacts, proposed method utilizes the facts that, blocking artifacts, when occur, have different pixel values along the block boundaries and such differences usually continuously span along the whole boundaries. This method does not require the original uncompressed image. It operates on single block boundary and quantifies the amount of blocking artifacts on it. Experiments on various compressed images various bitrates show that proposed quantitative measure of blocking artifacts matches well with the subjective quality of them judged by human visual system.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Faculty Research Performance Assessment Methods (교수연구업적 평가법의 계량적 분석: 국내 문헌정보학과 교수연구업적을 중심으로)

  • Effective assessment of faculty research performance should involve considerations of both quality and quantity of faculty research. This study analyzed methods for evaluating faculty research output by comparing the rankings of Library and Information Science(LIS) faculty by publication counts, citation counts, and research performance assessment guidelines employed by Korean universities. The study results indicated that faculty rankings based on publication counts to be significantly different from those based on citation counts. Additionally, faculty rankings measured by university guidelines showed bigger correlations with rankings based on publication counts than rankings by citation counts, while differences in universities guidelines did not significantly affect the faculty rankings. The study findings suggest the need for bibliometric indicators that reflect the quality as well as the quantity of research output.

  • The purpose of this research is twofold. The first is to develop the measures for evaluating performance of fingerprint sensor modules quantitatively and objectively. The second is to present the methodology for evaluating compatibilities among disparate fingerprint sensors. This paper focuses on the performance evaluation not of fingerprint authentication algorithm but of fingerprint sensors. Presented in this paper are several indicators and their measuring schemes such as the actual resolution of fingerprint images, the level of distortion by horizontal and vertical resolutions of fingerprint image, the intensity distribution for various illuminating conditions. Nine commercial sensor modules have been tested and the test results are expressed by using 95% confidence interval based on 50 acquired fingerprint images. The experimental results are compared with the manufacturer's sensor specification.

  • The interest in performance evaluation of public R&D has been dramatically increased. Many tries have been made to measure and to evaluate the quality of research performance. Quantitative indicators are considered increasingly important for this purpose. The most widely used are the number of research articles, citations and Impact Factors. However, such indicators are strongly discipline-dependent, and hence they should be used with careful attention. In this study we tried to provide quantitative evidence on the latent problems of discipline-dependent indicators. We also tried to provide a set of quantitative indicators for evaluating publications as a result of research activities. We put our focus on the quantitative indicators reflecting the characteristics on disciplines and provided several indicators with guideline on their usage.
