A Discourse for the Theory of Adaptive Learning Object Design (적응적 학습객체 설계 이론을 위한 개념적 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the conceptual and theoretical fundamentals of learning object. Learning object, a new paradigm for instructional design in the era of information technology, has attracted much research efforts since it has lots of advantages in terms of production efficiency and use effectiveness. A theory for the systematic design of this new instructional design, however, looks far from mature. Since the birth of the idea of a learning object has been found in the field of computer software design, such as object-oriented software development, learning object does not have enough theoretical underpinnings in terms of learning and instruction. The researcher tried to establish theoretical foundations for this new, alien concept as a learning design theory. Relevant research efforts and discourses have been discussed for this purpose.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the legal status of enterprise disaster management standards established as part of business continuity management and to ensure resilience, and to improve the problem of application of industry disaster management standards in related industries. Method: We collected relevant data for the study and conducted a literature review on the logistical definition of laws and academic systems such as constitution and enterprise disaster reduction law, and HLS structure. Results: It has been confirmed that the enterprise disaster management standards in the Enterprise Disaster Management Standard are higher in the legal status than the ISO 22301: 2012 international standard. Conclusion: Through this study, it is necessary to establish a development direction of application and related regulations by clarifying the enterprise disaster management standard according to the enterprise disaster reduction law.

u-Healthcare Context Information System Using Mobile Proxy Based on Distributed Object Group Framework (DOGF 기반의 모바일 프락시를 이용한 u-헬스케어 상황정보 시스템)

  • This paper implemented the u-Healthcare Context Information System (HCIS) supporting ubiquitous healthcare by using location, health and titrating environment information collected from sensors/devices equipped in home for healthcare home service. The HCIS is based on the Distributed Object Group Framework (DOGF), a management model which can customize distributed resources, and manages various context information, applications and devices as a group in healthcare home environment, as one more logical units. Also, this system provides continuous healthcare multimedia service considering a resident's location using Mobile Proxy, and the healthcare context information through Context Provider to a resident in home. For verifying execution of our system, we implemented the seamless multimedia service based on resident's location and the prescription/advice and schedule notification/alarm service as healthcare applications in home. And we showed the executing results of healthcare home service by using service device existed in the residential space on which the resident is located according to the healthcare scenario.

Teaching Addition and Subtraction with Reduction in Elementary Mathematics Textbooks (수학 교과서에 나타난 계산 지도 방법의 변화 - 두 자리 수의 덧셈과 뺄셈)

  • Although methods about teaching basic principles and skills of addition and subtraction is long traditional, view points of interpreting those algorithms and ways of introducing those calculating skills are various according to textbooks at each historical stage of elementary mathematics curriculum development in Korea. The 1st and 2nd stage shows didactic transpositions less systemic. In the 3rd and 4th stage, didactic devices, which were influenced by the new math, for help of understanding the principles of addition and subtraction muchly depends on mathematical and logical mechanism rather than psychological and intellectual structure of students who learn those algorithms. Relatively compromising and stable forms appear in the 5th and 6th stages. Didactic transpositions in the 7th stage focus on the formation of mathematical concepts by exploration activities rather than on the presentation of mathematical contents by text. Anyone who wishes to design an elementary mathematics textbooks based upon the constructive view should consider the suggestions derived from such transition.

Cultural Differences Exposed in a Process of Local Adaptation: Content Analysis of a Korean Movie, Miss Granny and its Chinese Version 20 Years Old Again (한국 영화 중국 리메이크에 나타난 문화적 차이-<수상한 그녀>와 중국판 <20세여 다시 한 번>을 중심으로)

  • This article compares the content of a Korean movie, Miss Granny, and its Chinese adaptation, 20 Years-old Again. Popular in both countries, two movies are based on a same synopsis with similar characters and plots. With similarities, they also display differences originating from distinct social, cultural, and political conditions in each society. Firstly, Miss Granny displays women in Korea closer to mother figures than any other social roles, while 20 Years-old Again does more individualized and sexually active female images. Secondly, the former shows Korean men as the heads of houses in the Confucius tradition, but the latter does Chinese men more demoted and democratized. Thirdly, the former depicts the Confucius social caste system still surviving against oblivion, as the latter does the system being able to be overcome by serving the country. As main reasons of these differences, this article takes historical, social, and cultural differences that both societies have experienced from the early $20^{th}$ century.

Turing's Cognitive Science: A Metamathematical Essay for His Centennial (튜링의 인지과학: 튜링 탄생 백주년을 기념하는 메타수학 에세이)

  • The centennial of Alan Mathison Turing(23 June 1912 - 7 June 1954) is an appropriate occasion on which to assess his profound influence on the development of cognitive science. His contributions to and attitudes toward that field are discussed from the metamathematical perspective. This essay addresses (i)Turing's mathematical analysis of cognition, (ii)universal Turing machines, (iii)the limitations of universal Turing machines, (iv)oracle Turing machine beyond universal Turing machine, and (v)Turing test for cognitive science. Turing was a ground-breaker, eager to move on to new fields. He actually opened wider the scientific windows to the mind. The results show that first, by means of mathematical logic Turing discovered a new bridge between the mind and the physical world. Second, Turing gave a new formal analysis of operations of the mind. Third, Turing investigated oracle Turing machines and connectionist network machines as new models of minds beyond the limitations of his own universal machines. This paper explores why the cognitive scientist would be ever expecting a new Turing Test on the shoulder of Alan Turing.

  • Computer education currently executed at elementary schools showed problems of system of education curriculum, repetition, and lack of consistent system as a result of analyzing index for information and communication technology, education curriculum, and related literatures, and most of the education contents have difficulty to nurture logic thinking and problem-solving ability since they are composed mainly of software function learning. Concerning this issue, this study suggests an innovated computer education curriculum with reinforced information ethics field with computer principle, algorithm, and programming, in other words, a corrected and supplemented version of former content system based on computer science guidance cases of ACM education curriculum model of USA, computer education curriculum of state Tennessee, and information technology education curriculum of Great Britain judging that introduction of computer science factors are desperate to improve computer education curriculum in elementary schools.

  • In this knowledge information society, it cannot be too much to accentuate the necessity and importance of computer education. However, the current computer education in elementary school only focuses on computer application and utilization. It is not satisfactory to the needs of knowledge information society to improve mechanic office operation and/or to provide simple utilization of educational software through learning the application software functions. Therefore, based on creative and logical thought, it is necessary at this era to prepare computer education as the essence of science to create new values and to embody knowledge by understanding social and cultural environment of knowledge information society that is continuously in change and development. Accordingly, this study presents the necessity of change based on problems of computer education, and investigates field teacher's opinion on the direction of change in elementary computer curriculum in this knowledge information society. Also, this study presents a computer education curriculum for elementary school students by focusing on a comparison between our current elementary computer curriculum and that of North Carolina and of California in the United States.

An Empirical Study on the Relationship among Firm Characteristics, Human Resources and Investment Strategies of Korean Private Venture Capitals (한국 벤처캐피탈의 조직상황적 특성, 인적자원 특성 및 투자전략 간의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • There are many different types of risk capital competing for deals in the korean entrepreneurial capital market. In the past, even though korean private venture capitalists did not have their distinctive competitive advantages, due to government support and subsidies, they could be survived in the market. However, the government controlled area has changed to a market driven area which emphasizes market forces and competition rather than support and protection. In order to be competitive, Korean private venture capital firms need to recruit high calibre professionals and build required financial skills for wise entrepreneurial investments. The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationships among firm characteristics, human resources, and investment strategies of korean venture capital firms. We can find that the asset size of venture capital firms has a positive effect on the size of their human resources. However, we can not find any relationship between firm characteristics and investment strategies of venture capitals. Even though we find some evidences among some variables, we need to interpret the results very carefully. Further research would be needed to carried out to clarify the disputable interpretations and our understanding of this area.

Bolzano and the Evolution of the Concept of Infinity (무한 개념의 진화 : Bolzano를 중심으로)

  • The concept of infinity, as with other scientific concepts, has a history of evolution. In the present work we intend to discuss the subject matter with regard to Bolzano since he is considered to be the first to accept the idea of actual infinity not just from a metaphysical perspective but from a mathematical one. Like modem platonists, Bolzano defended the infinite set itself regardless of the construction process; this is based on the principal of comprehension and unicity of denotation regarding all concepts. In addition, instead of considering as paradoxical the fact that a one-to-one correspondence existed between an infinite set and its parts, he regarded it in a positive way as a special characteristic. While the Greek era recognized the existence of only one infinity, Balzano acknowledged the existence of various types of infinity and formulated a logical definition for it. The question of infinity is a touchstone of constructive method which holds an increasingly important role in mathematics. The present study stops with just a brief reference to the subject matter and we will leave further in-depth investigation for later.
