  • Design and fabrication of Technology Demonstration Model(TDM) of 75 tonf regenerative cooling thrust chamber were described. It has design chamber pressure of 60 bar, propellant mass flow rate of 243.6 kg/s, and nozzle expansion ratio of 12. It has a single welded structure of the mixing head and the chamber. Design and fabrication technologies established through this TDM can be used to development of flight model.

Effects of Ultrasonic Standing Wave on the Ultrasonically-atomized Aerosol Flame Injected through a Slit-jet Nozzle (Slit-jet 노즐을 통과한 초음파 무화 에어로졸 화염에 정상초음파가 미치는 영향)

  • In liquid-fuel spray combustion, an experimental study was conducted to observe the effect of ultrasonic excitation on the ultrasonically-atomized liquid fuel flame by controlling pressure field through an ultrasonic standing wave. Flame of the ultrasonically-atomized kerosene aerosol was visualized by using a high speed camera, DSLR, and Schlieren photography. The amount of fuel consumed was obtained by a precise flow-rate measurement technique during combustion, through which the ratio of carrier gas (air) to fuel mass was able to be obtained, too. As a result, it could be found that the combustion reaction-rate of the liquid-fuel aerosol was increased by applying an ultrasonic standing wave to the secondary flame zone of the flame.

  • The vortex cup is proposed as a method to transport sensitive products such as silicon wafers in manufacturing. Air through the inlet nozzle located at the top of the vortex cup flows to form a swirl in the cylinder. The flow located in the lower part of the thin gap between the vortex cup and the bottom surface escapes and generates a negative pressure that can lift objects. In this research, three-dimensional numerical simulation of the air flow field in a vortex cup is performed, and a comparison of the simulation and experimental results shows very good agreement. In addition, the vortex cup length and shape that affect the negative pressure were applied to the analysis. Through the simulation results, optimum conditions for the vortex cup shape were proposed.

  • Ignition characteristics of combustion chamber with LOx lead cyclogram for liquid rocket engine were described. The combustion chamber has chamber pressure of 60 bar, propellant mass flow rate of 89 kg/s, and nozzle expansion of 12. Cold flow test to determine the filling time of propellant for cyclogram with LOx lead supply, ignition test to check the ability to ignite starting fuel from the ignitor, low pressure combustion test to check the propagation of flame into main fuel-oxidizer mixture from starting fuel and the main combustion stage, and design point combustion test to check the combustion performance were performed. Ignition and combustion tests with LOx lead supply were successfully performed and the stable cyclogram of start sequence for combustion chamber was developed.

Analysis of Coating Uniformity through Unsteady and Steady State Computer Simulation in Slot Coating (슬롯코팅에서 정상 및 비정상상태 컴퓨터해석을 통한 코팅의 균일성 분석)

  • As a process of plat panel display production, slot coating is widely used for the coating of photoresist on a wide glass substrate. A uniform coating thickness is important, and the coating uniformity is divided into nozzle and machine directions. The machine and nozzle directions coating uniformities are influenced by the operation condition of coater and flow uniformity inside the die, respectively. Non-uniform coating during steady coating process occurs according to those factors, however, non-uniform coating along the machine and nozzle directions has been observed at the beginning of coating by unsteady flow. In this study, steady and unsteady state flow simulations have been performed and compared with experiment to examine the causes of non-uniform coating. Computational results exhibited that it took a time to get a uniform pressure distribution at whole inside the die, and during this period of time edge regions showed lower exit velocity compared with center region. Subsequently edge regions had thinner coated layers than center region. However edge regions showed higher exit velocity than center region after steady state, and this made edge regions had thicker coated layer than center region.

  • The effect of operating condition was studied experimently on the characteristics of twin sprays ejected from two airblast atomizers, within the range of the mass air-fuel ratio 1.36∼3.54. Water and nitrogen gas were used as test fluids for the experiments. Spray characteristics of liquid spray were measured with measurement of mass distribution and instantaneous image of the spray cone. Experimental results show that the maximum specify of the distribution were lowered but distributed over the larger area when the ROA ratio increased, Center of mass position did not change with increasing water mass flow, Increase of the nozzle distance has an small effect on mass distribution of interaction area but distributed over the larger area. It was also conformed that the effect of interaction near central point of collision decreased with the increase of the ROA ratio on interaction area from comparison using superposition method

  • 3D 패키징 기술은 전기소자의 소형화, 고용량화, 저전력화, 높은 신뢰성등의 요구와 함께 그 중요성이 대두대고 있다. 이러한 3D 패키징의 연결방법은 와이어 본딩 또는 플립칩등의 기존의 방법에서 TSV(Through Silicon Via)를 이용하여 적층하는 방법이 주목받고 있다. TSV는 기존의 와이어 본딩과 비교하여 고집적도, 빠른 신호전달, 낮은 전력소비 등의 장점을 가지고 있어 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. TSV의 세부 공정 중 비아필링(Via filling)기술은 I/O수 증가와 미세피치화에 따른 비아(Via) 직경의 감소 및 종횡비(Via Aspect Ratio)증가로 인해 기존 필링 공정으로는 한계가 있다. 기존의 비아 홀(Via hole)에 금속을 필링하기 위한 방법으로 전기도금법이 많이 사용되고 있으나, 전기도금법은 전기도금액 조성, 첨가제의 종류, 전류밀도, 전류모드 등에 따라 결과물에 큰 차이가 발생되어, 최적공정조건의 도출이 어렵다. 또한 20um이하의 비아직경과 높은 종횡비로 인하여 충진시 void형성등의 문제점이 발생하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 용융솔더와 진공을 이용하여 비아를 필링시켰다. 이 방법은 관통된 비아가 형성된 웨이퍼 양단에 압력차를 주어, 작은 직경을 갖는 비아 홀의 표면장력을 극복하고, 용융상태의 솔더가 관통된 비아 홀 내부로 필링되는 방법이다. 관통 비아홀이 형성 된 웨이퍼 위에 솔더페이스트를 $250^{\circ}C$이상 온도를 가해 용융상태로 만든 후 웨이퍼 하부에 진공을 형성하여 필링하는 방법과 용융솔더를 노즐을 통하여 위쪽으로 유동시켜 그 위에 비아홀이 형성된 웨이퍼를 접촉하고 웨이퍼 상부에 진공을 형성하여 필링하는 방법으로 실험을 각각 실시하였다. 이 때, 웨이퍼 두께는 100um이하이며 홀 직경은 20, 30um, 웨이퍼 상부와 하부의 진공차는 약 0.02~0.08Mpa, 진공 유지시간은 1~3s로 실시하여 최적 조건을 고찰하였다. 각 조건에 따른 필링 후 단면을 전자현미경(FE-SEM)을 통해 관찰하였다. 실험 결과 0.04Mpa 이상에서 1s내의 시간에 모든 비아홀이 기공(Void)없이 완벽하게 필링되는 것을 관찰하였으며 이 결과는 기존의 방법에 비하여 공정시간을 감소시켜 생산성이 대폭 향상 될 수 있는 방법임을 확인하였다.

Comparative Study on the Performance of Small Satellites Launch Vehicle Employing ElecPump Cycle Upper Stage Engine (전기펌프 사이클 상단 엔진을 적용한 소형발사체 성능 비교연구)

  • The performance analysis of the small satellites launch vehicle using the electric pump cycle as the upper stage engines was performed. The first stage is the launch vehicle that uses the test launch vehicle of the Korea Space Launch Vehicle II and the second stage employs elecpump cycle engine that uses liquid methane and kerosene (RP-1) as fuel. A model for the mass estimation was presented and the analysis was conducted for the range of thrust of 20 to 40 kN and combustion pressure of 3 to 6 MPa with a nozzle expansion ratio of 60 to 100. The mixture ratio with the maximum velocity increment was calculated and the performance of the LEO and SSO payload were calculated from the stage mass estimation. In both the cases, liquid methane, and RP-1 showed maximum payload for 20 kN thrust, 3 MPa combustion pressure, and the nozzle expansion ratio of 100, with a mixture ratio of 3.49 for liquid methane and 2.75 for RP-1. In addition, the ditching points of the first stage and the fairing in the LEO mission were analyzed using ASTOS.

Application of CFD Methods to Improve Performance of Denitrification Facility (탈질 설비의 성능 개선을 위한 CFD 기법 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the strengthening of environmental requirements, aging denitrification facilities need to improve their performance. The present study aims to suggest the possibility of improving performance using computational analysis techniques. This involved modifying both the geometric design and the operating conditions, including the flow path shape of the equipment such as the inlet guide vane and the curved diffusing part, and the flow control of the ammonia injection nozzle. The conditions presented in this study were compared with existing operating conditions in terms of the flow uniformity, the NH3/NO molar ratio of the mixed gas flowing into the catalyst layer, and the total pressure drop of the facility. The flow field applied in the computational analysis ranged from the outlet of the economizer in the combustion furnace to the inlet of the air preheater, the full domain of the denitrification facility. The performances were derived by solving the flow fields using ANSYS-Fluent and the injection amount of ammonia was adjusted for each nozzle using Design Xplorer. Compared to the denitrification performances of the equipment currently in operation, the conditions proposed in this study showed an improvement in the flow uniformity and NH3/NO composition ratio by 45.1% and 8.7%, respectively, but the total pressure drop increased by 1.24%.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Flame Surface Area Fluctuation on the Heat Release Fluctuation in a Premixed Bunsen Flame (예혼합 분젠 화염에서의 화염 표면적 변동이 열발생 변동에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • A combustion chamber with a branch tube was built to investigate the characteristics of a spontaneous oscillating laminar premixed Bunsen flame. The flame behavior was observed, and the relation between the flame surface area and heat release rate was inspected. The equivalence ratio and mean velocity were fixed at 1.1 and 1.75 m/s, respectively. The amplitude of the pressure fluctuation in the combustion chamber was changed and the flame behavior was affected when the length ratio between the branch tube and combustion chamber (L:R) was varied. The $OH^*$, $CH^*$, and flame chemiluminescence had similar behavior qualitatively. There was linearity between the flame surface area and heat release rate.
