The purpose of this study is to explore Women University students' supporting awareness, knowledge and attitude toward the elderly. After obtaining the participants' consent form, survey was performed with structured questionnaire about characteristics, supporting awareness, knowledge and attitude toward the elderly. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 program, which was used for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients. The result of this study were as follows. 1) Supporting awareness of participants was 115.50±13.19. Participants' knowledge was 10.21±2.90 and attitude was 84.19±12.19. 2) More knowledge and more positive attitude toward elderly were significant related to higher supporting awareness. 3) Supporting awareness of participants was significantly different by religion, monthly pocket money, religious service, supporting parents in the future, living with parents-in-law, though of ideal support system, father-grandmother(paternal) relationship, mother-grandfather(paternal) relationship, mother-grandmother(paternal) relationship and mother-grandfather(maternal). The finding of this study gives useful information for developing an educational management program for women.

This study is to understand how experiences of, knowledge of, and attitude toward the aged affect consciousness of supporting the aged among students of social welfare. 702 students majoring in social welfare at university in the capital and regional area were selected for this study from May to June, 2011. The result revealed that there are factors affecting consciousness of supporting the aged such as their attitude, physical ad physiological knowledge, and volunteer experiences and positive experiences in cohabitation with the aged. On the basis of these results, it is expected that the outcomes of this study will contribute to promote the students' consciousness about supporting the aged.

The purpose of this study was to identify the convergence influencing factors on nursing students' awareness of caregiving for the elderly. The participants were 130 nursing students from S University located in W city. Data were collected from July 1 to December 31, 2021, and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 statistical program. As a result of the study, there were statistically significant differences in dementia awareness according to general characteristics in gender, dementia related practice and education experience, and elderly related educational experience, empathy in elderly related practice experience, and the awareness of caregiving for the elderly in dementia interest (Yes). The awareness of caregiving for the elderly showed a positive correlation with empathy (r=.380, p<.01), and the factor effecting the awareness of caregiving for the elderly was dementia interest (yes) (𝛽=.283, p<.001) and empathy (𝛽=.354, p<.001), the explanatory power was 21.8%. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and provide a nursing curriculum or program that can improve empathy ability in order to cultivate nursing students' the awareness of caregiving for the elderly.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects on nursing students' knowledge, attitude towards dementia and about awareness of elderly care. The study participants were 288 nursing students from K' university on May 7 to 14, 2019.The data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS 20,0 program. The results revealed that students acquired knowledge of dementia by grade and religion as per general characteristics. The knowledge, attitude towards dementia and awareness of elderly care showed statistically significant differences in experience of care and education about dementia. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the awareness of elderly care with knowledge (r = .105, p = 038) and attitude towards dementia (r = .556, p = 000). The students' attitude was explained about 31.3% in awareness of elderly care. As a findings, there is need to develop and apply a structured education program on dementia based on individual and group characteristics of nursing students. Also, it is recommended to provide continuous education and feedback.

This study was to investigate the supporting awareness and empathy with the dental hygiene student. The participants were 193 dental hygiene students in Gwang Ju city and analyzed by the frequency analyzed, t-test, ANOVA, pearson corelation coefficients and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS STATICS 20.0. Supporting awareness and empathy about the elderly had a significant positive correlation. Factors influencing empathy were interest of elderly problem and supporting awareness. It is necessary to the establishment of a subject and education program about elderly in dental hygiene students.

This study is to verify the mediated effects of attitudes toward old people and dementia in the influence of elderly couples in the aging society amid the rapidly changing family structure and functions due to the combination of individualization, marital status and divorce rate. In order to carry out such research purposes, data were collected from students of elementary, middle and high schools in Gwangju, through self-subscribed questionnaire. For statistical analysis, the SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs were used and frequency, percentages, technical statistics, correlation, factor analysis, structural model validation, and the Sobel-Test were performed. The results of this study are as follows. First, family intimacy, elderly awareness, and elderly care were the highest among elementary school students, followed by middle school and high school students (P.<.001). Also, in religion, the family intimacy of teenagers with religion was higher than those without religion (p.001). Second, family intimacy directly affected elderly people's attitudes toward dementia and elderly care, old people's attitudes toward dementia and attitudes toward dementia directly affected elderly care. Third, family intimacy (parent-child) was found to be 7.8% for older adults, 20.2% for family intimacy and attitudes toward dementia, and 34.1% for elderly care (p.<.001). Fourth, it has been verified that the absolute value of attitudes toward dementia and elderly people's awareness of elderly people and attitudes between family intimacy and elderly care has been higher than 1.96 and thus acts as a mediating role. These findings are intended to contribute to the welfare of senior citizens' education to improve the quality of life for senior citizens through the resolution of conflicts between generations, as well as the resolution of positive stimulus, by developing various programs such as family friendship, elderly awareness, culture with parents, and various experiences to improve attitudes toward dementia in early adolescence.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of elderly generation sympathy, family intimacy and age-friendly environment of young and middle-aged generations on supporting the older adults, and to identify differences of influencing factors among generations. With these purpose, we used data of the '2017 Age Integration Survey' provided by the Humanities and Social Capacity Enhancement Project in Korea Research Foundation. The analysis of the data was performed on 640 participants who were between 18 and 64 years old, and they were selected from total 1017 study population. The analysis method was the Structural Equation Model(SEM). The results of this study were as follow. Firstly, elderly generation sympathy and family intimacy were significant statistically significant effect on the notion of supporting the older adults positively to all generations. Secondly, the relationship between the notion of supporting the older adults and the influential factors suggested in this study was found to be significant among the generations. Thirdly, the young generation showed a statistically significant effect on the notion of supporting the older elderly generation sympathy and family intimacy. Elderly generation sympathy and family intimacy had a significant statistical impact in the middle aged generation, however, age-friendly environment significant statistically significant effect on notion of supporting the older adults negatively. With these results, we presented practical and policy suggestions to enhance the notion of supporting the older adults.

In the wake of the radical structural change of the society, problems in family support for the old aged have arisen. Against this backdrop, the aim of this study was to examine aspects of the conflicts in family support focusing on novels by Park Wan-seo, and to analyze the expression of the family support awareness within the social consciousness. This quasi-experimental study examined the experience of simulation clothes and its effects among undergraduate nursing students. Method: The experimental group consisted of 44 sophomore students in a diploma nursing program, while 41 students comprised the comparison group. Only the experimental group experienced the functional decline of aging after taking on simulation clothes. Homogeneity between the groups was analyzed using t-test, and Fisher's exact test. Paired t-test and t-test were adopted for testing changes of attitudes and awareness of supporting elders. In addition, contents of students' reports of the aging simulation experience were analyzed. Results: No significant quantitative effect was observed in attitudes toward elders and awareness of supporting elders. However, the simulation experience seemed to have enhanced students' understanding of elders and of basic elder care as well. Furthermore, the students could think of preparing for their later lives. Conclusion: The experience of simulation clothes is a meaningful learning opportunity in gerontological nursing curriculum. Students' experiences need to be shared and reinforced in a discussion session. Safety should be secured in the process of the experience. The simulation experience can be further developed to raise its quality.
