  • In this paper, we classify multicast methods into three categories, i.e., tree-based, path-based, and hybrid-based multicasts, for a multicomputer employing the bidirectional torus network and wormhole routing. We propose the dynamic partition multicast routing (DPMR) as a path-based algorithm. As a hybrid-based algorithm, we suggest the hybrid multicast routing (HMR), which employs the tree-based approach in the first phase of routing and the path-based approach in the second phase. Performance is measured in terms of the average latency for various message length to compare three multicast routing algorithms. We also compare the performance of wormhole routing having variable buffer size with virtual cut-through switching. The message latency for each switching method is compared using the DPMR algorithm to evaluate the buffer size trade-off on the performance.

  • UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) is a middleware of DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) services a home network. UPnP supports the connections between each other devices in networks and also provides service discovery and advertisement with SSDP(Simple Service Discovery Protocol), which is generally designed for wired networks. SSDP operates on multicasting discovery request and advertisement and unicasting a reply in networks. It is a challenge issue for service discovery protocol such as SSDP to provide a stable and effective service in wireless ad-hoc networks. Wired based service discovery protocol does not consider the dynamics of wireless ad-hoc network. In that case, the nodes are freely in or out. Therefore, this paper proposes a flexible SSDP(fSSDP) which is a peer-to-peer(P2P) discovery protocol adopted for wireless ad-hoc Networks. It is implemented on the extension of SSDP. fSSDP supports a functionality that the broadcast area of service discovery dynamically changes with the periodically updated area of advertisement. It is good for reducing messaging overhead caused from the broadcast flooding of service discovery in wireless ad-hoc network.

  • In the wireless adaptive modulation and coding(AMC) systems, the modulation type of user's connection can be changed dynamically. and the ongoing connection might fail due to the change of modulation. In this paper, we approach the AMC-induced CAC problem by focusing on the guaranteed connection. Three kinds of calls, new, handoff, and modulation-changed calls, are considered. We propose a modified guard channel CAC scheme that allows the modulation-changed and handoff calls to use the guard channel. Then we analyze a Markov model for the CAC scheme with long-term AMC in mind. According to the simulation results, the proposed approach reduces the call dropping probability for modulation-changed calls, which suggests the threshold of guard channels can be determined based on the proposed approach.

  • Looking at the recent value change of users and the usage pattern of network users, it is changing from simple web information, one-way information acquisition and data transmission to increase of usage of multimedia, increasing demand for security and customization, and increasing demands for free mobility. Due to this change of demand, the services which were provided individually, developed into a form which is merged, the network also seems to develop into the combined network from the individual network for individual service, and the communication network control technology which is the core technology is also rapidly developing.. This paper propose three path computation scheme that not only use the resources effectively but also to minimize the information transmissions between the multi-layers in a multi-domain environment. This paper also suggested that the optimum path choice be performed through diversification of the path selection using the information of various layers altogether in the multi-layer environment, compared with the established path selection method when the path was selected using the information of each layers.

  • In an virtualization environment, several virtual machines use physical resources together. If a specific virtual machine uses to much of the computing resources, other machines may not be working properly. There are various method to solve this problem. Most representative study is to migrate a specified virtual machines to a different server, a target server. In this study, server load can be transferred to a target server by the remigrate of the load imposed on virtual machine. It is still problematic that virtual machine has to remigrate to a different server. This thesis has proposed the algorithm determining the remigration targets by applying dynamic thresholds to solve those problems. The migration algorithm applies dynamic thresholds according to the following criteria. Firstly, the usage of CPU, network and memory; secondly, decide the set of artificial machine and the target server based on the resources surpassed thresholds; thirdly, determine artificial machines based on the resource usage in the target server.

  • A virtual network technology can provide a network reflecting the requirements of various services. The virtual network can distribute resources of the physical network to each virtual slice. An efficient resource distribution technique is needed to reflect the requirements of various services. Existing bandwidth distribution techniques can only control downlink traffic without taking traffic conditions on the network into account. Downlink and uplink share the same resources in a wireless network. The existing bandwidth distribution techniques assumed that all stations generate saturated traffic. Therefore, the existing bandwidth distribution technique cannot make traffic isolation in a virtual wireless network. In this paper, we proposed a traffic-based bandwidth control techniques to solve these problems. We applied Software-Defined Networking(SDN) to the virtual wireless network, monitored the traffic at each station, and searched for stations that generated unsaturated traffic. We also controlled both uplink and downlink traffics dynamically based on monitoring information. Our system can be implemented with legasy 802.11 clients and SDN-enabled APs. After the actual test bed configuration, it was compared to existing techniques. As a result, the distribution performance of the proposed technique was improved by 14% in maximum.

  • Heterogeneous network (HetNet) is a network consisting of macrocells overlaid with small cells. In HetNet, the interference from macrocell to small cell users is a major cause of performance degradation of small cell users and enhanced inter-cell interference coordination (eICIC) is needed to mitigate the interference. Previous works on eICIC gives limited performance gain because these works focus on maximizing long-term throughput and rarely consider varying channel conditions over frames. This paper proposes a new algorithm which dynamically coordinates interference and schedules users on each frame to maximize the total utility of the network with lower computational complexity than exhaustive search. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves higher total throughput than the throughput with the conventional algorithm, and has higher fairness index than the conventional algorithm when there large number of users.

  • On account of limited resources and diverse topology change. it is difficult to manage MANET and guarantee QoS. In current MANET, QoS grantee is exceedingly significant. However, today's MANET are being concentrately worked on MAC protocols and routing protocols. Thus we proposed a framework for effective management of MANET and supporting QoS using policy based network management paradigm and active network technology. Since this framework employs the policy-based management approach in active network environment, it provides an abstract and autonomous management method to network managers.

  • In cognitive radio (CR) network, the channels are generally classified into either the unavailable channels that are occupied by incumbent users or the available channels that are not occupied. The conventional channel classification scheme may result in poor utilization of spectrum holes since it does not take the spatial relationship between CR node and incumbent users into consideration. In this paper, we propose an efficient channel management scheme for the centralized CR network to maximize the spectrum holes by overcoming the shortcomings of conventional scheme. In addition, we mathematically analyze the effectiveness of proposed scheme. Based on the proposed channel management scheme, we also propose the rendezvous algorithm, which can establish the control channels between base station and CR node under the dynamically changing spectrum environment.

  • To provide on-demand video streaming services through the network, video objects with both high and low client request rates should be served efficiently. In this paper, we propose a dynamic on-demand streaming approach for providing services efficiently regardless of the client request rate. This approach can maintain QoS by transitioning the service scheme according to the request rate. The server provides services by the Heuristic broadcasting approach when the client request rate is low and by Striping broadcast, one of many Periodic broadcast approaches, when the client request rate is high. The server knows the variations of client request rates by the number of service channels and decides the transition to more efficient service schemes on its own. We simulated this scheme transition with various client request intervals and traces from a company providing streaming services. The results show that the performance of our approach is reasonable.
