  • In the KIOST MOERI model ice basin, a lot of experiments to find the material properties of model ice and model ship tests are being performed. And therefore many data information was produced, yet it was saved as excel data format. In order to manage and use the data more effectively and systematically, a proper database management is required. To make realistic engineering DBMS(database management system), understanding of test process, the usage of data, design of data schema and computer language and system management are required. In this paper, basic design process and usage of DBMS based on network and multiple user concept is introduced.

  • 인터넷 정보 가전(IIA; Internet Information Appliance)내에 내장형 DBMS 의 개발은 다양한 이종 네트워크의 통신을 지원하기 위한 미들웨어(Middleware, i.e. OSGi)의 지원이라는 문제를 해결해야만 하기 때문에, 이들 미들웨어와의 인터페이스라는 문제가 기존의 데이터베이스 엔진을 개발하는 문제와 가장 큰 차이점이라 할 수 있다. 이외에는 일반적인 메모리 상주 데이터베이스 엔진 (nain memory DBMS)을 개발하는 것과는 별다른 큰 차이점이 아직까지는 연구되지 않고 있다. 하지만, 가정이라는 지역적인 특성을 고려한 데이터 서비스를 먼저 염두에 두어야 하며, 이에 따라 다양한 응용 소프트웨어를 쉽게 개발할 수 있는 방향으로 제작이 되어야 한다는 점을 늘 고려해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 인터넷 정보가전용 내장형 DBMS 개발 사업에 관하여 현재까지 본 과제에서 논의되고 있는 요구사항을 분석한 결과를 정리하고, 이에 관한 토론을 하고자 한다.

A Study of Development ODBC Driver for Multimedia Data Processing (멀티미디어 데이터 처리를 위한 ODBC 드라이버 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The ODBC(Open Database Connectivity) is particularly efficient in the dynamic client/server environment. Besides, the ODBC provides the functions that can handle multimedia data. Due to this feature, we are able to use the DBMS that supports the ODBC as a multimedia server. In this thesis, we describe the development of the ODBC driver for Relational DBMS. The Relational DBMS ODBC Driver consists of the client module and the server module. The client module is called the SRM(Server Request Module) and the server module is CSM(Client Service Module). These two modules are connected through the network module called the NSM(Network Service Module). We have conducted both the functional and the interoperability test of our ODBC Driver It turned out that the ODBC driver operated with these client DBMS tools successfully. In all, due to our development of the Relational DBMS ODBC Driver, DBMS is now capable of processing multimedia data and supporting the client applications including the DBMS tools.

  • 본 논문은 SAN(storage area network)상에 네트워크-부착형 (network-attached) 저장 장치들을 직접 연결하여 파일 서버 없이 직접 데이터 전송이 가능한 SAN 기반의 클러스터 공유 파일 시스템인 $SANique^{TM}$의 설계 기법을 설명하고 $SANique^{TM}$ 시스템의 기본 파일 입$\cdot$출력 연산 성능을 집중적으로 평가하기 위해 상용 DBMS의 기본 연산 트랜잭션을 구성하여 기존 파일 시스템 기반의 DBMS와 비교 분석한다. 또한 표준 성능 평가 도구인 TPC-C 표준 벤치마크 테스트 도구를 활용하여 리눅스 시스템 및 Solaris 시스템 환경의 파일 시스템과 비교한다.

  • As data size increase, a single database is not enough to serve current volume of tasks. Since data is partitioned and stored into multiple databases, analysis should also support parallelism in order to increase efficiency. However, traditional analysis requires data to be transferred out of database into nodes where analytic service is performed and user is required to know both database and analytic framework. In this paper, we propose an efficient way to perform K-means clustering algorithm inside the distributed column-based database and relational database. We also suggest an efficient way to optimize K-means algorithm within relational database.

  • 이질적인 데이터베이스간의 중복 데이터 일관성을 유지문제를 해결함으로써 기존의 디스크 기반 범용 데이터베이스를 사용하는 시스템의 방대한 데이터들을 주기억장치 상주형 데이터베이스에 중복 저장함으로써 디스크 I/O 와 관련된 지연 시간 없이 빠른 성능 향상을 기대할 수 있으므로 네트워크상의 불특정 다수의 서비스 형태에 빠른 응답 시간과 처리 시간을 제공 할 수 있다. 본 본문에서 제시하는 중복 데이터 일관성 유지 기법은 디스크 기반 범용 데이터베이스의 REDO LOG를 참조하여 갱신트랜잭션에 관한 로그를 주기억 상주형 데이터베이스에 적용하도록 설계하고 두 데이터베이스간의 일관성 유지를 위해 수행되는 기능들이 성능 향상을 위한 목적을 위배하지 않으면서 이질적인 데이터베이스간의 일관성을 보장하도록 한다. 또한 두 데이터베이스의 성능 차이로 인해 발생할 수 있는 문제점들을 해결하고, 시스템 붕괴 시를 고려하여 유지되지 못한 데이터 일관성에 대해서도 복구 후에 일관성 유지를 가능케 하는 기법을 제공한다.

  • As the technology in smart device is growing and Social Network Services(SNS) are becoming more common, the data which is difficult to be processed by existing RDBMS are increasing. As a result of this, NoSQL databases are getting popular as an alternative for processing massive and unstructured data generated in real time. The demand for the technique of digital investigation of NoSQL databases is increasing as the businesses introducing NoSQL database in their system are increasing, although the technique of digital investigation of databases has been researched centered on RDMBS. New techniques of digital forensic investigation are needed as NoSQL Database has no schema to normalize and the storage method differs depending on the type of database and operation environment. Research on document-based database of NoSQL has been done but it is not applicable as itself to other types of NoSQL Database. Therefore, the way of operation and data model, grasp of operation environment, collection and analysis of artifacts and recovery technique of deleted data in HBase which is a NoSQL column-based database are presented in this paper. Also the proposed technique of digital forensic investigation to HBase is verified by an experimental scenario.

  • As computer systems of high capacity and high performance recently emerged, various researches about GISs(Geographic Information Systems) have been in progress and many GIS applications have also been developed. From the domestic situation where many people are using mobile devices, because of the recent advances in the mobile technology, we can infer that the time will come when every individual will carry a mobile device with a GPS(Global Positioning System) module resulting from the development of a miniature GPS Module. Therefore, a mobile GIS that can allows users to deal with dynamic GIS data management and perform their tasks while moving will be required. This paper discusses the design and implementation of a mobile GIS using the shareware DBMS, called postgresSQL. The Mobile GIS in which a mobile concept is utilized at the GIS data server makes it possible to insert, delete, update GIS data, to zoom in and zoom out displayed maps, and to locate the user's position on the client device. Therefore, It is possible to manage dynamic GIS data in order to deal with GIS data on the maps while moving, connect various GIS data servers through the middleware, and connected with ITS (Intelligent Transport System) which is one of applications of the Mobile GIS developed in this paper.

  • Currently, contents generated by SNS services are increasing exponentially, as the number of SNS users increase. The SNS is commonly used to post personal status and individual interests. Also, the SNS is applied in socialization, entertainment, product marketing, news sharing, and single person journalism. As SNS services became available on smart phones, the users of SNS services can generate and spread the social issues and controversies faster than the traditional media. The existing indexing methods for web contents have limitation in terms of real-time indexing for SNS contents, as they usually focus on diversity and accuracy of indexing. To overcome this problem, there are real-time indexing techniques based on RDBMSs. However, these techniques suffer from complex indexing procedures and reduced indexing targets. In this regard, we introduce the TK-Indexing method to improve the previous indexing techniques. Our method indexes the generation time of SNS contents and keywords by way of NoSQL to indexing SNS contents in real-time.

S-XML Transformation Method for Efficient Distribution of Spatial Information on u-GIS Environment (u-GIS 환경에서 효율적인 공간 정보 유통을 위한 S-XML 변환 기법)

  • In u-GIS environment, we collect spatial data needed through sensor network and provide them with information real-time processed or stored. When information through Internet is requested on Web based applications, it is transmitted in XML. Especially, when requested information includes spatial data, GML, S-XML, and other document that can process spatial data are used. In this processing, real-time stream data processed in DSMS is transformed to S-XML document type and spatial information service based on web receive S-XML document through Internet. Because most of spatial application service use existing spatial DBMS as a storage system, The data used in S-XML and SDBMS needs transformation between themselves. In this paper, we propose S-XML a transformation method using caching of spatial data. The proposed method caches the spatial data part of S-XML to transform S-XML and relational spatial database for providing spatial data efficiently and it transforms cached data without additional transformation cost when a transformation between data in the same region is required. Through proposed method, we show that it reduced the cost of transformation between S-XML documents and spatial information services based on web to provide spatial information in u-GIS environment and increased the performance of query processing through performance evaluation.
