삼중효용 LiBr/물 흡수식 냉방기의 사이클 시뮬레이션 (Cycle simulation of a triple effect LiBr/water absorption chiller)

  • Basic design of a 50USRT(175㎾) triple effect absorption chiller driven by hot gas has been carried out for both parallel and series flow cycles. Parallel flow cycle showed higher COP, however, the temperature in the generator was also higher than that in series flow cycle. Dynamic operation behavior of a parallel flow system at off-design conditions, such as the change in heat transfer medium temperature or the construction change of the system components, has been investigated in detail. It was found that the cooling capacity was seriously decreased by reducing hot gas flow rate and UA-value in the high temperature generator. However, the system COP was improved, because thermal load in the system components was reduced. The COP and the cooling capacity was found to be improved as cooling water temperature decreased or chilled water temperature increased. The optimum ratio of solution distribution could be suggested by considering the COP, the cooling capacity and the highest temperature in the system, which is critical for corrosion.

여름철 전기요금이 거주자의 냉방기 조작과 온열감에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Electric Charge on the Operating Behavior of Air-conditioner and Thermal Comfort in Summer Season)

  • Much energy is used in occupying stage of the Building Life Cycle. Electric charge is one of the various factors that influence on energy use of residents. This study focused on electric charge and searched that whether electric charge affects residents' behavior of operating air conditioner and their controlled indoor climate. We surveyed three groups for field study ; A group is residents who live in a studio apartment, B group is residents who live in a university dormitory and C group is residents who live in a apartment with their family. The A and C groups are charged for electric as energy consumption they used. And the B group is students who live in a university dormitory and they are not charged for their energy consumption. We measured the time to use the air conditioner for cooling, on/off temperature of air conditioner, and room air temperature for these three groups. The result shows that consideration for electric charge affects to the residents' behavior of operating air conditioner and their acceptable thermal range.

대향류 핀삽입형 재생증발식 냉방기 연구 (Study on the Counterflow Regenerative Evaporative Cooler with Finned Channels)

  • The regenerative evaporative cooler(REC) is to cool a stream of air using evaporative cooling effect without an increase in the humidity ratio. In the regenerative evaporative cooler, the air can be cooled down to a temperature lower than its inlet wet-bulb temperature. Besides the cooling performance, for practical application of the regenerative evaporative cooler, the compactness of the system is also a very important factor to be considered. In this respect, three different configurations, i.e., the flat plate type, the corrugated plate type, and the finned channel type are investigated and compared for the most compact configuration. The optimal structure of each configuration is obtained individually to minimize the volume for a given effectiveness within a limit of the pressure drop. Comparing the three optimal structures, the finned channel type is found to give the most compact structure among the considered configurations. The volume of the regenerative cooler can be reduced to 1/8 by adopting the finned channel type as compared to that of the flat plate type.

철도차량용 냉방기 배관계의 진동저감 연구 (Vibration Reduction of Pipe Line in Air-conditioner for Railway Vehicle)

  • The air-conditioner for railway vehicle should have vibration durability in order to operate normally in vehicle running situation. KS R 9144(vibration test methods for railway vehicle parts) is used to verify the vibration durability. The specifications of compressor, condenser and evaporator for air-conditioner in railway vehicle are standardized, but the shape and structure of pipe lines are not specified. Because the air-conditioner handler produces the pipe line arbitrarily, sometimes the pipe line is broken during the vibration durability test. In this research the cause identification and solution of pipe line breaking problem in during the vibration durability test were studied for air-conditioner of railway vehicle(diesel multiple unit). It was found that the natural frequency of pipe line is related to the pipe line breaking by experiment. A new pipe line shape was introduced by using FEA in order to avoid the resonance. The prototype new pipe line was applied to air-conditioner and the natural frequency was measured by experiment in order to verify the resonance avoidance. The vibration reduction of air-conditioner with new pipe line was reviewed by comparing to the air-conditioner with original one.

밀집형 재생증발식 냉방기의 냉각 성능 분석 (Analysis of Cooling Performance of a Compact Regenerative Evaporative Cooler)

  • This study investigated a compact regenerative evaporative cooler (REC). To achieve practical applications of an REC, it is very important to consider the compactness as well as the cooling performance. Therefore, a prototype of the REC was designed and fabricated to improve the compactness by reducing the length through the insertion of fins in both the dry and wet channels. The REC prototype was tested in terms of performance evaluation under various operating conditions. An analytical model was also developed to analyze the effects of the axial conduction through the solid body of the REC, the wetness of the surface in the wet channel, and the thermal capacity of the evaporation water flow. The model was validated by comparing the results of a simulation with experimental data. The numerical simulation was based on the model to analyze the performance of the REC and to suggest methods to improve the cooling performance of the REC. Finally, the performance of the present REC was compared to that obtained in previous experimental studies. The results showed that the REC prototype in the present study is the most compact and achieves the highest cooling performance.

  • Regenerative evaporative cooling is known as an environment-friendly and energy efficient cooling method. A regenerative evaporative cooler (REC) consisting of dry and wet channels is able to cool down the air stream below the inlet wet-bulb temperature. In the regenerative evaporative cooler, the cooling effect is achieved by redirecting a portion of the air flown out of the dry channel into the wet channel and spraying water onto the redirected air. In this study, a horizontal regenerative cooler is considered. In the horizontal regenerative cooler, the flow direction of evaporating water has a right angle to the flow direction of supply air. This difference was investigated with visualization technique and simplified 2-module performance test was done in a thermo-environment chamber. Optimum design configuration is changed due to the wet channel which are easily fully covered with evaporating water and block the air flow inside the channel. Applying the optimized fin configuration design with the highly wetting surface treatment, a regenerative evaporative cooler was fabricated and tested to Identify the cooling performance improvement and operation characteristics. From the experimental results at the intake condition of $32^{\circ}C$ and 50% RH, the supply temperature was measured to be around $23.4^{\circ}C$. The cooling effectiveness based on the inlet dewpoint temperature was evaluated 73% which is almost close to the design expectation.

통신기지국용 하이브리드 냉방기의 성능특성 연구 (Performance Characteristics of a Hybrid Air-Conditioner for Telecommunication Equipment Rooms)

  • The power density and heat dissipation rate per unit area of the telecommunication equipment have been increased with the technology development in the footprint of telecommunication hardware. A proper heat dissipation method from the PCB module is very important to allow reliable operation of its electronic component. In this study, a hybrid air-conditioner for the telecommunication equipment room was designed to save energy and obtain system reliability. For high outdoor temperatures, the hybrid system operates in the vapor compression cycle, while, for low outdoor temperatures, the hybrid system works in the secondary fluid cooling cycle with no operation of the compressor. The performance of the hybrid air-conditioner was measured by varying outdoor and indoor temperatures. The hybrid air-conditioner yielded 50% energy saving compared with the conventional refrigeration system when the mode switch temperature was $8.3^{\circ}C$.

온실 포그 냉방 제어시스템 개발 및 냉방효과 (Development of Fog Cooling Control System and Cooling Effect in Greenhouse)

  • 본 연구는 여름철 고온기에 작물을 정상적으로 재배할 수 있는 환경을 조성하여 농산 가격이 가장 높은 여름철에 수확량을 높이고 재배기간을 연장시켜 농가소득을 올릴 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 수행하였다. 바닥면적 504㎡의 연동온실의 최대 냉방부하는 462,609W로 나타났으며, 고온기에 온실을 차광하지 않고도 32℃ 이하로 유지하기 위해서는 시간당 472L의 물을 포그 분무해야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 포그 냉방 시스템은 포그 장치, 유동팬, 차광장치로 구성하고, 이들 장치를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있는 포그 냉방 자동제어장치를 개발하였다. 포그 냉방시스템의 냉방 성능은 온실 외기온 보다 내부온도를 6℃ 낮출 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 포그 온실의 내부 상대습도는 주간에는 40~80%로 대조 온실의 20~60% 보다 약 20% 높게 나타나 오이의 생육에 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 오이의 생육상태는 포그 온실에서 재배한 오이가 대조 온실에 비해 초장, 엽장, 엽폭, 엽수, 엽록소 값이 전체적으로 높게 나타났다. 포그 온실의 오이 수확량은 대조 온실에 비해 단동 온실에서는 1.8배, 연동 온실에서는 2배 높게 나타났다.

인터쿨러와 공랭식 응축기를 동시에 사용하는 냉방-냉동 겸용 캐스케이드 사이클에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Cascade Hybrid Cooling/Refrigeration Cycle Equipped With Intercooler and Air-Cooled Condenser in Series)

  • 그간 캐스케이드 냉동 시스템에 대해서 열역학적 해석은 다수 수행되었으나 증발기, 응축기, 인터쿨러 등 부품 해석을 통한 시스템 평가는 미진한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 냉방 및 냉동 열교환기가 별도로 장착되어 있고 하부 사이클에 공랭식 응축기와 인터쿨러가 직렬로 연결되어 있는 캐스케이드 냉동 사이클에 대해 성능 해석을 수행하였다. 우선 증발기, 응축기, 인터쿨러 등 요소부품에 대해 모델링을 수행하고 R-410A를 사용하는 냉방 능력 8 kW, 냉동 능력 15 kW의 캐스케이드 냉동 사이클의 요소 부품의 - 상부 응축기, 하부 응축기, 냉방 증발기, 냉동 증발기, 인터쿨러, 압축기, 전자팽창변 - 설계를 수행하였다. 설계 사양에 대하여 외기 온도를 $26^{\circ}C$에서 $38^{\circ}C$로 변화시키며 해석을 수행한 결과 냉각 열량은 하부 증발기에서는 거의 일정하고 상부 증발기에서는 9% 감소, 인터쿨러에서는 63% 증가하였다. 한편 COP는 외기 온도의 증가에 따라 감소하였다. 인터쿨러가 작동하지 않는 사이클 대비 인터쿨러 사이클이 COP 측면에서 우위를 보였다. 또한 상부 응축기의 크기를 당초 설계치의 2배 증가시키면 하부 증발기 열량은 변함이 없는 반면 상부 증발기 열량은 4% 증가하였다. 한편 상부 응축기의 크기 증가에 따라 상부 사이클의 COP는 증가하는 반면 하부 사이클의 COP는 큰 변화가 없다. 또한 하부 응축기 크기를 2.8배 증가시키면 상하부 증발기의 열량 변화는 거의 없고 인터쿨러의 열량만이 8% 감소하였다. 아울러 하부 사이클의 COP는 응축기의 크기가 증가함에 따라 다소 증가하였으나 상부 사이클의 경우는 그 변화가 미미하였다.

여름철 집합주택의 거실 온열 환경의 측정 및 거주자의 냉방기 사용행위에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Environment and Residents' Usage Behaviors of Cooling Devices in Apartments' Living Rooms)

  • This study measured the thermal environment and residents' cooling behavior of the apartments' living rooms in summer in Seoul. The purpose of this study is to find out the present thermal environment of the living rooms and to find out the target figure of passive cooling system. The surveys and measurements took place in six apartments of Seoul for 60days(2004. 7. 3${\sim}$2004. 8. 31). The result were summarized as follows; The thermal environment of apartments' living rooms were almost neutral, and residents felt a little uncomfortable. Residents turned on the air conditioner at $27.31^{\circ}C$ of indoor temperature, and $28.89^{\circ}C$ of SET*. Therefore, cooling critical temperature of the passive cooling system can be figured out from this result.
