Design of Capillary Tube for a Refrigeration Systems (냉동시스템의 모세관 설계)

  • 모세관(capillary tube)은 일정면적식 팽창기구의 대표적인 것으로서 사용역사가 길고, 신뢰성이 높고, 가격이 저럼하므로 냉동공조시스템의 냉매제어장치로 매우 많이 사용되고 있다. 이것은 냉동시스템의 응축기와 증발기 사이에서 유입하는 고압의 액상냉매를 증발기에서 증발하기 쉬운 증발압력까지 압력을 강하시키는 감압팽창작용과 증발기의 증발 용량에 적당한 냉매 질량유량을 공급하는 역할 (이 작용은 냉동시스템의 용량과 작동범위를 결정하는데 매우 중요하다.)을 한다. 이 글에서는 모세관의 형상, 재질 및 그장 . 단점과 작동원리, 내부 유동현상 등 일반적인 사항에 관하여 기술한다.

Analysis of the Vibration Transmitting Characteristics of the Insulation-foam for Reducing Refrigerant-induced Noise of a Refrigerator (냉장고 냉매소음 저감을 위한 단열 발포재의 진동 전달특성 분석)

  • In the refrigerator, the two-phase refrigerant-induced noise of the capillary tube in an evaporator-inlet pipe has been a great concern. The capillary tube is usually covered with insulation-foam packed in the space between inner and outer cabinets without any vibration isolation. Therefore, the refrigerant-induced vibration of the capillary tube can be easily transferred to the outer cabinet, which may increase the radiated noise. In this paper, the characteristics of transferred vibration through the insulation-foam are investigated experimentally by using the refrigerantsupplying equipment. The frequency characteristics, such as dynamic Young's modulus and loss factor, of the insulation-foam are also discussed.

  • Natural gas liquefaction process which is operated under cryogenic condition spends large amount of energy. Most of energy in the natural gas liquefaction process is consumed by compressors. Therefore, minimizing energy consumption of compressors is an important issue in process design and operation. Among various natural gas liquefaction processes, propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant (C3MR) process consists of mixed refrigerant system and pure refrigerant system. In this study, to find the optimal design of pure refrigerant system, pure refrigerant cycle is simulated on different number of pressure levels and the necessary energy of each design is compared. After that, the driver selection model is applied to analyse each processes, which has different number of equipments, in terms of cost. As the result, the design using many equipments spends lower energy. Using this result, this study suggests standard of process design selection by the cost term.

Prediction of Two-phase Flow Patterns and Noise Evaluation for Evaporator Pipe in a Refrigerator (냉장고 증발기 배관의 2상유동양식 예측 및 소음 평가)

  • The refrigerant after the expansion valve interchanges the heat at the evaporator. At this moment, the state of gas and liquid becomes two-phase flow and causes irregular noise. In order to avoid the noise, the two-phase flow pattern should be predicted. In this paper, the procedure to predict the two-phase flow patterns such as churn flow and annular flow was suggested using the CFD software. The experiments using refrigerant-supplying equipment was carried out and the noise levels according to the flow pattern were measured. The flow patterns predicted by this procedure showed good agreement with those by experiments. The churn flow is noisier than annular flow pattern.

Reduction of Refrigerant-induced Noise of the Refrigerator by Modification of the Evaporator Inlet Pipe (증발기 입구 배관의 구조 개선을 통한 냉장고 냉매 소음 저감)

  • This research is focused on the experimental study of the noise induced by two-phase refrigerant flow in the evaporator. The two-phase flow in the evaporator has various flow patterns. The effects of two-phase flow pattern's characteristics on the noise of the evaporator are investigated experimentally. The experimental data shows that the generated noise is mainly related to the layout of the pipe and the certain two-phase flow patterns such as the churn and slug flow. Based on these results, we removed the unnecessary vertical pipe and changed the pipe diameter of the evaporator - inlet into small one in order to avoid the intermittent flow condition. The noise level of newly-designed inlet-pipe of the evaporator was measured experimentally by refrigerant-supplying equipment and compared with that of conventional one.

Study on Performance Improvement Air Cooled Condenser Considering Ambient Condition (대기 조건에 따른 공랭식 응축기 성능 저하 개선 연구)

  • Air cooled condenser for power plant is used at inland area of desert or mountainous area because condenser coolant like sea water is not necessary. However, the performance of air cooled condenser is influenced by ambient condition such as wind speed and air temperature. Therefore, various devices have been designed to improve the performance of air cooled condenser. In this study, the CFD analysis for air cooled condenser was carried out according to wind speed and wind screen configuration. As wind speed increased from 3m/s to 7m/s, the fan flow rate was reduced about 15.76% and the rise of inlet air temperature was 5.55 degree of Celsius. When the suitable wind screen is equipped, the fan flow rate went up about 5.18% and inlet air temperature dropped by 2.08 degree of Celsius in comparison with original case without wind screen at 7m/s wind speed.

  • At present, using of electromagnetic control valve (ECV) in external variable displacement swash plate type compressor is a common issue. Solenoid operated ECV controls vehicle air conditioning system through a pulse width modulation (PWM) input signal that supplied from an external source. Different port pressure controls the swash plate movement inside the compressor at certain angles that finally determines the refrigerant flow rate to the vehicle compartment for passengers comfort. In this paper, crankcase pressure flow (Pc flow) is calculated with some ECV samples with corresponding to amount of variable supply of current ranges from 0.20Amp to 0.95Amp.

  • 초전도 시스템에서 전류를 공급하는 역할을 하는 전류리드는 없어서는 안 될 핵심 부품이다. Powder-in-tube(PIT) 법으로 제작한 1세대(1G) 고온초전도 선재보다 열전달특성이 나쁜 2세대(2G) 고온초전도 선재를 이용하여 고온초전도 전류리드를 제작하였다. 사용한 선재는 미국 AMSC사 선재이다. 초전도 자석으로의 열침입을 최소화하기 위해 지지구조물은 GFRP를 사용하였고 금속연결부는 무산소동을 사용하였다. 2G 선재 6가닥을 사용하여 제작한 전류리드는 액체질소 온도에서 I-V 특성을 평가한 결과 약 400 A급 전류리드도 사용 가능하다고 판단되었으며, 열전달 특성을 측정하기 위해 무냉매형 특성평가장치를 사용하였는데, 77 K과 7 K 사이에서 약 50 mW정도 였다. 본 논문에선 2G 고온초전도 선재를 사용하여 제작한 전류리드의 전기적 열적 특성에 대해 논의하고자 한다.

Analysis and Experiment of Pressure Pulsation in a Suction Pipe of Compressor (압축기 흡입배관 압력 맥동 특성의 실험 및 해석)

  • This paper dealt with numerical estimation of the pressure pulsation of the refrigerant in a suction pipe of the compressor. The behavior of the pressure pulsation was assumed to satisfy the wave equation. The boundary conditions and properties of refrigerant are necessary as input data of the simulation. The pulsating pressures at 15 points in a pipe were measured simultaneously from the pressure transducers. From the experimental data, the complex phase speed and impedance at the end of the pipe of the refrigerant were estimated using the signal processing and used as the input conditions of the numerical analysis. A commercial acoustic software was used to solve the behavior of pressure pulsation. The numerical results for the pressure pulsation in a pipe with and without expansion chamber were carried out and compared with those by experiments. Finally, numerical procedure to estimate the pressure pulsation in a pipe was established and verified.

An Experimental Study of Evaporative Heat Exchangers with Mini-channels (물의 증발잠열을 이용하는 미니채널 열교환기의 실험적 연구)

  • The present study shows some results of developing evaporative heat exchangers with mini-channels. Heat exchangers with three different water paths were manufactured and tested to compare performances of cooling and pressure drop. Among the three types of heat exchangers, Type 2 with full-etching was proved to be the best in the cooling performances for considered operating conditions, and thus it is recommended to adopt Type 2 for its simplicity of production and outstanding performance. However, Type 1 was shown to be better when it is operated at a high air inlet temperature condition. The developed evaporative heat exchanger will be installed in Environmental Control Systems(ECSs) for aerial vehicles, and it can be used effectively in case an ECS is not only limited in its weight and volume but also required to absorb heats without supplying water (or a coolant) for a certain period of time.
